EasyCare FounTec Algaecide and Clarifier, 8 oz. Bottle

EasyCare FounTec Algaecide and Clarifier, 8 oz. Bottle

I have a solar fountain in my bird bath; the fountain was overcome with grue. I added three drops of this stuff, and the fountain is clear! For all of those reviews indicating that this product is toxic based on all the warnings on the bottle: yes, if you were to drink this stuff STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOTTLE, or use the bottle, undiluted, to fill your bird bath, it would be waaaay too strong! And cost a lot, too. But you are just dropping a few drops into a volume of water, which - according to chemistry, right? - dilutes it, and makes it safe. So please keep that in mind. Most products in full strength are bad. But when diluted in water are good. :) The birds, your fountain/pond/source of water thank you for cleaning the grue out of your container. :)

This works fantastic for my small 25 gallon pond with a small waterfall. It is in full sun all afternoon and the algae builds up really fast. I wanted something that would kill the algae but not hurt the wildlife. I have a lot of birds and squirrels that drink or bathe in the pond and also my dog will drink out of it. I have not seen any sick birds or squirrels and my dog is fine. Will definitely buy again!

After using bleach, which was becoming only a temporary solution, I figured there must be a product on the market for cleaning algae out of fountains. After a Google search I came upon EasyCare FounTec Algaecide and quickly ordered from Amazon. I only wish I had found this product in the spring instead of half-way through the summer. Works like a charm. Cleared the brown and green algae right out of my fountain and kept it clear in the summer heat. They do suggest you follow the weekly maintenance after your initial dose - which is a must. I thought I'd skip the first good week of maintenance after the initial treatment to test the continual clarity and the algae started growing again. Lesson learned. First treatment is large, based on gallons, but the weekly maintenance is just a few drops, again based on gallons in your fountain. Don't hesitate buying this product if you are tired of your beautiful fountain being taken over with algae.

I am using this for my 2 indoor fountains. I don't know about it being safe for birds, etc., but it is fantastic for indoor use. I used this in my fountains for almost a year, and when I moved, I had to empty them of course. There was no odor and never has been since using this, and I was amazed that that was no sludge or slime when I emptied and cleaned my fountains. It only takes about a teaspoon and I only added it when I had to add water which is approximately once a week. I purchased this about a year ago and still have over half a bottle left!! So glad I tried it and will never use anything else in my fountains unless this product is discontinued. Almost 2 yrs later: Still have about a quarter of a bottle left. I started using only 3 drops and it is just right for my indoor fountains. Wish I had one outside, would definitely use it there as well. When diluted it is safe for any kind of reptile, fish, bird, animals. Just don't go crazy and use half the bottle, totally not necessary. Oh btw, the water here is very hard with lots of minerals and there has never been a build up of sludge, slime or even a water line. Going to buy more as I am afraid the price will go up or it will be discontinued as most everything I really like seems to happen this way.

I was skeptical at first but it seems to be helping significantly. I have 3 birdbaths around my yard and the birds, esp. robins bring so much mess to them. This mess causes excess growth of algae on the bowls. Since the directions say to only use 1 or 2 drops it's inexpensive in the long run. The birds have not been affected by this product. Squirrells and birds drink daily from the treated water. I gave it 4 stars because it's too soon to say it will deter algae growth during the warmer days to come. So far I'm happy.

I bought this for my indoor fountain . All the info I could find in the reviews said it was okay for pets and wildlife. The label says harmful to humans and domestic animals. I called the number on the label and left a message. They returned my call within the hour and assured me it is safe for pets. Undiluted it would be harmful but diluted it is perfectly safe. I started with a drop per gallon in a new fountain. I will update as I use the product and see how it does keeping my fountain clean.

I am back to update my review. Seems to work well but I opted not to use it in the fountain my cats drink from. For the time I did use it I noticed no ill effects on them but I would rather clean the fountain than risk long term effects from an algaecide. Until they put clear safe use instructions on the label for domestic animals I decided not worth the risk.

So far, so good. Bought a cream colored fountain so any kind of algae will definitely show. Nice to know that it will be a "healthy fountain" as well.

Works great! I put one drop a week in my desk top fountain, and even after two months with no cleanings, there is no slime, no bubbles, no nastiness at all! The fountain instructions said to clean weekly, but I've only cleaned it once, right before I added this product. Before I got this product, I had only had my fountain for two weeks, and it already had slime growing on the rocks and on every wet surface, even with distilled water. This product REALLY works well. I read about it on a website that sells fountains, and they boasted that they had fountains that hadn't had their water changed in two years that were still running clean with this product, and that's what spurred me to buy it.
I highly recommend it.

Amazing results. I have tried numerous products and this is by far the best. I don't have animals I'm worried about and my fountain has enough movement that generally wild birds aren't bathing in it so I'm not factoring that aspect in as much. But, they do say that it's safe, and unless you've got an animal with a very fragile constitution, I'd say it's worth trying. We have a large (at least 50 gallon) fountain that had gone all winter without cleaning. I did clean it before using this, but we've had the fountain for 4 years and never had anything keep it pristine for more than a few days. This stuff knocked out some residual "green" and has kept the water absolutely clear for over a month. I am a committed fan!

Very rarely do I write reviews but this product rocks!!! Easy and long lasting. Very inexpensive compared to our temporary fixes and makes our fountain look great. I also use it in a smaller fountain (with the same results) that our cats drink out of in the courtyard.
