Genesis 6-Inch Clip Convertible Table-Top & Clip Fan, Two Quiet Speeds - Ideal For The Home, Office, Dorm, More, Black

This fan is perfect. I bought it for my new elliptical. I attached some photos below of how I have it set up. It stays clamped well. isn't wobbly etc.

I LOVE this fan.
So it's quiet, takes up very little space, has a 2 wonderful speeds that move a bunch of air, the clip is pretty great with only a little understandable slipping... I will be buying more of this fan. So, I HIGHLY recommend this fan. My husband laughed at me when I bought it, but here's the thing: I've been through early onset menopause, which means I've got about 50 years worth of hot flashes ahead of me, off and on, and night is the worst. Thing thing helps SO MUCH. The air is consistent, cool, and even. The low setting is almost TOO quiet, I prefer the high setting as it makes the PERFECT white noise. My hubby kept laughing when I put it up... THEN he got a fever and now I'm out my fan because he's so busy laying under it clipped to the head board in the spare room saying how AMAZING it is. lol. Whose laughing now?

so why does it have 4 starts? Even though I'm gonna buy 2 more? Well, the upright base on mine is USELESS. The nut that is supposed to fit into the upright's fork to hold the fan just spins in the hex hole. It's a BRILLIANT design, don't get me wrong, the hex hole holds the hex nut and you use the T bar attached to the bolt to tighten it on, loosen it to adjust then re-tighten... no wrench needed! Unfortunately the hex hole in my standing base was already bad when I got it (too big, didn't catch), and after adjusting the position of the fan a few times with the clip base on it's starting to warp the soft plastic and isn't holding the hex nut firmly either.
So I'm probably just going to go to the hardware store and replace this bolt with a longer one and 2 wing nuts instead of the one T it's got going on now. If you're going to hold the fan in the same position and don't ever adjust it, you likely will not experience my issue damaging the plastic using as intended.

If you're looking for a fan that you need to clip to something, this one is brilliant. and the price is right. It does better with half to one inch surfaces, but I have it on my 1.5 inch headboard all night with no problems for the last month or so. I just make sure to adjust it with 2 hands and press the clip all the way onto the surface.

Been using it for a few weeks now and love it. I purchased this fan specifically for white noise when I'm sleeping, and it's loud enough to provide that, but quiet enough that I can still sleep. It seems to provide a nice breeze for sleeping too, although I don't usually have it pointed at me.

This is the best littlengan I've ever owned. With the two speeds and it being as quite as it is there is no comparison. I bought this because I'm very hot natured and my temp in my house stays at 69° year around. This fan helps keep me cool at night and the way it moves air across my body it's the perfect fan to replace the big stand fan that takes up so much room: I am extremely happy with this purchase probably the smartest purchase I've made in years. So this item gets 5 stars times 2. I would encourage anyone looking for a small clip on fan to give this one a try. It is absolutely the best bedside fan I've ever owned.

I wanted something small and quiet for my desk where the office A/C doesn't reach so well. I had hoped to clamp it to my cubicle wall but the cord wasn't long enough to reach my surge strip on the floor. No worries though because I snapped on the tabletop base instead and just slid my phone over to make room. There are 2 speed settings, which are controlled by a switch on the back of the unit. At just an arm's length away, the low (1) setting comes in at 69 decibels. Switching to the high (2) setting only raises it to 71 decibels, so both settings are very quiet. Air flow is great and I actually have to turn it off after just a few minutes because I'm already cold. The fan is 100% plastic, but it's very pliable and not brittle so I think it will hold up well for my use.

Description

The Genesis 6 Inch Clip-On Fan with Attachable Table-Top Base is an energy efficient personal fan with innovative design. The fan has dual features. It can be used as a clip-on fan or as a table-top fan. To use as a table-top fan, simply loosen the butterfly screw on the fan head, then attach the base to the fan head ad tighten the butterfly screw. To use as a clip-on fan, loosen the butterfly screw on the fan head, then attach the clip to the fan head ad tighten the butterfly screw. The clip can accommodate a 1.06 inch to 1.65 inch thick structure. The fan has two quiet energy efficient speeds. The fan head can be adjusted to all angles making it so much more convenient to use. This fan has been ETL listed and employs overload safety protection with a fuse in the built-in power plug.

I have a Tsunami Pro "Waters" indoor cycle. It doesn't come with a fan like the bikes do at the gym do and I was really needing one to help keep me cool. This is a perfect, cost-effective fix! The fan comes with 2 bases, one for clipping and one for setting on your desk. The clip base is firm and doesn't slide around. I put it on the pipe that runs around the top of the bike (by the control panel) and at its widest, the clip is open 1½ inches and the grip is so firm that this fan isn't going anywhere (see the picture)! The head pivots up and down too, so I can have air blowing on my face or on my chest. The fan is about 8" across so it is bigger in real life than it looks in the picture. It has 2 speeds and I like the high speed for when pedaling my heart out.

This is one of the quietest fans I have ever owned. Perfect for an office environment, I have mine clipped to the underside of the upper cabinets in my cubicle. It does make an audible noise but the sound level (to my ears) us about 1/3rd of the typical desk fan. It reminds me of a batter powered fan of the same size my grandmother used to have back in the early 1980's. If there is anything I am disappointed with it would be that the fan can only be turned to face 8 directions, you can not adjust the rotation gradually which may mean the fan points at the top of your head or at your desk in my type of situation where the fan is mounted to an upper cabinet. I have found pointing it at the top of my head works perfectly fine though and keeps the papers on my desk from rustling. One feature I would like to see added is a remote control or on/off switch somewhere other than the backside of the fan, for convenience.

I bought two of these. One for me, the cheap but enthusiastic keyboardist, and one for the old church amplifier that overheats and no one will replace. They were just what I and the amplifier needed. They are light weight and easy to put together and move around. One down side is that they don't swivel very much, and they don't point upwards much at all. Since they are so light, that didn't end up being a big deal.

The Holmes fan has a sturdier construction with thicker plastic, stronger clip, and a metal cage. The base is cleverly designed so that you can just clip it on to make it a desk fan without any assembly. However, the cord is annoyingly short and the fan lacks flexibility. It only adjusts left to right and not up or down.
The Avalon fan has a cheaper all plastic construction but I would not describe it as fragile. The clip is reasonably strong but not as good as the holmes fan. However, it has a longer straight cord and is very flexible allowing you to adjust it to different applications than just a table top such as on the back of a bed frame or chair.
Both fans blow reasonably strong. I would recommend the Holmes fan if you just need a straight table top solution and the Avalon if you want something more flexible.

I've actually found the clip-on mode to be more useful than the table-top mode, although the table-top option is a plus.

Pros

• Really sturdy clip-on.
• Good air flow for size.
• Owner's Manual (Although not indicated in assembly, note that Butterfly Head Screw is inserted on side opposite of hole with hex cutout -- so that Nut does not rotate when tightening screw after adjusting fan angle.)
• 'UL Listed' registration mark on fan label and box.
• Quiet, especially on low speed.

Cons

• Notched, fixed positions swivel for clip-on base vs. continuous variable swivel (but continuous swivel probably would introduce other problems).
• More effort than expected to adequately tighten screw to set fan angle.
