This probiotic is absolutely amazing. It is completely different from other probiotics I have tried, but it all depends on your own GI tract. Other probiotics have given me either constipation or diarrhea completely, whereas this one regulates me as long as I take it twice a day. I was taking it only once a day with a ton of improvement, but now that I take it twice a day it's almost as if I'm normal again. It has so many good reviews, is recommended highly by the pharmacist I asked about it, and research done on this product (e.g., PubMed) has shown that it is very useful for even those with inflammatory bowel diseases. I have cyclic vomiting syndrome and IBS and this has actually improved both syndromes' symptoms. It has also improved my GERD almost completely. I've also noticed I had an increase in energy as well when I started taking it twice a day. The only complaint is that it's a bit expensive, but since it helps me so much I'm sort of forced by buy it and take it twice a day.
I just wish that they would offer some kind of discount or something for this product because it gets very expensive and I can't really afford to spend $57 every one and a half months since I have to take it twice a day. It really adds up, but I need it, unfortunately.
Update: Florastor has removed the titanium dioxide, which they used to make the capsule white, so I'm upping my review from 1 star to 4. I'll definitely try it again.
Original review: This probiotic really has possibly helped a little, but the main reason for my review is my discovery that the capsules are colored with titanium dioxide -- a potentially toxic or harmful substance. Why they add this to the product, especially without disclosing it on the BOTTLE, is beyond me. Won't be buying again.

Whenever you are prescribed an antibiotic, it is important to also take a probiotic in order to keep your gut “in balance”. Not doing so, can, and probably will result in an imbalance which can cause severe problems, such as c-diff, a bacterial infection. That is what happened to me, several weeks after finishing my prescription for Cipro. I ended up in the emergency room and spent three days on IVs . Don’t ever take antibiotics, unless you are also taking a good probiotic, such as Florastor.
I am very pleased with this probiotic. Even though it’s pricey I feel it’s helped a lot. I did read a lot of reviews concerning the color difference so when mine arrived also being in a clear capsule showing a tan content I called the company. They explained that any lot number over 2000 will have the new capsule. They had listened to customer feed back and changed the capsule due to it containing a certain ingredient so this is why you are seeing a new looking pill. It’s not a fake pill. No need to return the item... just call the company if there’s a concern like that.
I continue to use Florastor because it reduces GI upset and bowel issues and I believe it has boosted my immune system. Since starting Florastor 1 pill per day over 2 years ago I have not gotten sick. I've felt things coming on (for instance a cold sore which usually means I'm about to get a cold) but my body seems to fight the virus off before it becomes a full-blown illness. I attribute this to Florastor but you can draw your own conclusions.

For the first time in over 30 years, I now have regular bowel movements and no 'can't make it' accidents. I would recommend this product to anyone having problems with continuous diarrhea. Have been taking antibiotics for an infected tooth for 2 months. I gained five pounds and was bloated,gassy, miserable. Read up and learned the weight gain and discomfort may be related to the antibiotics and that this particular probiotic strain (Saccharomyces boulardii lyo) could help. When I received it, I was concerned about the lactose it contains. A little research on that showed that sometimes it actually helps stimulation of lactase and is beneficial. So I decided to give it a try. Am very happy to report that although I am only on day 3 (taking one capsule per day), I feel so much better. My belly is no longer tight and bloated and I have not experienced any symptoms from the lactose. I will update this later but right now I am very pleased with the results! UPDATE - Feb 2019. I took this from Nov 12 through beginning of January. On January 4, I had my first Diverticulitis infection. Although I cannot be positive it was the lactose in this product that irritated my diverticula, I have stopped taking it and have switched to VEGAN probiotics.
I’ve been taking Florastor for years (it has helped me recover from candida after massive doses of antibiotics) so I was horrified when my normally white capsules arrived and they were brown in color, and looking half-filled. I even started a return, but when I went to my local drug store and purchased another bottle, I found the same clear capsules with the brown powder inside. According to Florastor’s website, and their updated Amazon product description, they made the choice to switch to clear capsules because the older, white ones contained titanium. They say that otherwise it’s the exact, same product. I’ve taken them for a few days and have had no problems. Hope this was helpful!
I think this may have cleared my Candida. I’ve been trying to get rid of it for six months with natural anti fungals but I’ve never been able to rid of it completely. I take this 2 pills in the morning and 2 at night with one earths pearl probiotic at the same time. Took for about 2-3 weeks and no more white tongue.
Our doctor recommended taking this when we take antibiotics as had problems with C-diff in the past. It actually works to prevent diaherrea better than any probiotic we tried plus it is not a probiotic so you don't have to worry about when you take it according to the package info.
