I was skeptical when a member of the family first ordered this. We'd been using national name-brand dish soap for generations, and this seemed like another hipster/millennial fad product, complete with retro label and très chic ingredients. The price seemed to confirm my suspicions.
But we had it so we used it up, and then used some more. I forgot about it.
Lately we picked up a bottle of the national brand when we ran out of Meyer's, and I noticed a few things:
- The National Brand is hard to rinse clean. Meyers rinses quickly without obvious residue.
- The National Brand always seemed to leave a scent / taste, on account of previous point. Meyers just left our dishes clean.
- The perfumed scent of the National Brand seemed repulsive. I'd gotten used to the lighter, botanical scent of Meyer's.
- The National Brand seemed to require more product per wash-load than Meyer's.
So now we're sticking with Meyers.
UPDATE: Turns out, Mrs. Meyers is a brand of Caldera Company, which itself is owned by ... the S.C. Johnson corporation.. And (in some markets at least), S.C. Johnson is owned by Colage-Palmolive... Maybe Madge's last name is Meyers?? Well as long as the product continues to be decent we'll buy it. But we're certainly not attached to any particular brand if the formula changes for the worse.
...that doesn't leave my hands cracked, peeling and itchy! Have tried numerous natural/natural-ish liquid dish soaps that didn't get very sudsy or cut grease, and most left my hands terribly dry. I use gloves most of the time but sometimes it's just not convenient or I forget and all too often I've paid big-time for even just a few minutes of bare hands in soapy water. Now I don't have to be crazy diligent about wearing gloves. Mrs. Meyers Lemon Verbana became a very quick favorite for bubbling up and cleaning well without drying hands, plus the smell is wonderful without overpowering the senses or lingering on washed items. I've used it for every kitchen purpose under the sun as well as cleaning up after DIY projects. I filled a couple bathroom dispensers when out of regular handsoap and never went back to the other. Have also used for washing delicate clothing by hand and even toothbrushes which we wash after brushing. I love the smell of lemon and this one is particularly appealing to me. Easy recommendation. No free or discounted products received for writing reviews and not affiliated with merchandise in any capacity.
There's so many good things to say about Mrs. Meyer's products. I love the Lemon Verbena because it smells like summertime. I've been using Mrs. Meyer's products for.....12 years now, and I have never been disappointed. Their dedication to creating household cleaning products that are environmentally friendly and also effective is commendable. The bottle is recyclable, the ingredients list is easily pronounced, and your dishes are going to come out in fabulous shape. Seriously, I'm a 12 year customer. You only get this kind of loyalty from creating a superior product with a good mission.
I usually buy the cheapest dish soap because it's hard for me to spend money on good stuff for my dishes. This was a "splurge" for me and I'm so glad I did. I won't go back to my regular stuff. Buying in bulk makes it more affordable and it's worth it with the smell and good ingredients.
i was reordering my regular method lemon mint dish soap but, saw this in search results and decided for the price i would try it since the method has become weak in the scent area these days.. glad i tried this, do love the scent that i can actually smell but, i wouldn't mind it being a tad bit stronger so i can smell it better when actually washing dishes...it will still be strong enough to smell for most that don't have sinus issues i think though if fresh bottles.
personally i have no issues with this not rinsing off easily, it rinses off quickly and faster than method soap to me. Also cuts through meat fat grease quite well and my sponge didn't have any grease stuck on it at all like it normally does when i wash off pans with hardened burger fat/grease in them..
only been three days and i can already tell how friendly it is on my hands. hate dishwashers so i handwash all my and animal dishes at least 2 times a day and usually end up getting at least one brittle/split nail break on me almost every day, even when they are short..since using this, that has not happened and my nails actually look moisturized right now.. Will definitely continue to buy this monthly/bi-monthly as long as it stays the same.

Advertised as "lemon verbana" scented, though really just lemon and vaguely herbal. That said, it is a heck of a detergent! Because it is rather concentrated, we dilute it 4 or 5 to 1 in an old handsoap dispenser, and I find a squirt on the sponge will do several dishes before running out of steam. It also cuts grease on the stovetop.
I use the rather heavy duty bottles in the shop. They are cylindrical and a useful size.
I have been using this product for 3 years. I chose this brand/product for the fact that it is natural and less toxic. It cleans the dishes really well. Both my husband and I have sensitive skins, but we have never once feeling uncomfortable or itchy using this product. We bought detergent for other similar brand but just used once and got itchy hands. We have since not trying other brands. And keep this as a subscription item to make sure we always have it in stock.
i was so tired of replacing the sticky sponge ., no matter brand new sponge out the package. using Dawn/Palmolive any kine dish soap purchased at our local groceries store rented or non-scented .After 2days the sponge smelled of old mildewy stink., tried 3 different types of cleaning sponges...nope., when i used this product ..brahthe kitchen was so wonderful ., no more pissin and moaning bout who gonna do the dishes., happy kitchen ., big Mahalos for this product.''its the little things'' Aloha
The dishwashers in my family call Mrs. Meyer’s “miracle soap”. I’ve used several different fragrances and they ALL work amazingly!! Got something burnt on? Simply clear as much away with a paper towel or something, put a squirt of Mrs. Meyer’s and warm water in the pot/skillet/pan and let it sit for about 10 minutes and you’ll be shocked!! I LU❤️ this all natural dish soap! It truly is AMAZING!!!!!
Finally! This soap cleans all dishes perfect, smells fresh and awesome (not overpowering) and doesn’t dry out my hands. We have 6 people in our home, lots of dirty dishes to wash everyday. With Dawn lotion soap my hands used to bleed every winter. No more bleeding or dry skin. This is the only hand and dish soap we use in our house now. I’m loving all Mrs. Meyers products.
