Mueller 255 Lumbar Support Back Brace with Removable Pad, Black, Regular(Package May Vary)

I have never felt compelled enough to write a review but this back brace made something that hasn't been possible in about 10yrs actually possible. I have had back issues for about a decade and not one Dr has suggested a back brace. I am only able to walk for about 45min before the pain is unbearable. I love amusement parks but I have to rent one of those electric carts and it truly ruins the experience. On a whim I decided to try a brace out. I recently took my family to a large amusement park and about 2hrs in I realized that I was still walking and in what I would describe as completely bearable pain. It was about 95* and I was saturated with sweat and the brace never moved! I did readjust twice but like I said I have never used one before and figuring out the best position took a couple tries. We wound up being there from 9am-3pm I was able to enjoy the entire day walking around and on rides! Since this experience I have started to use it to be able to go on walks, shopping even just grocery shopping. I can finally enjoy/tolerate even the little things. I have NEVER written a review before but I felt I would be doing my fellow consumers an injustice if I didn't.

Well I've been wearing this brace for some 5-years now, so as to protect my back during heavy lifting, and while square dancing, etc. And during that time period, it has helped me immensely, along with thankfully zero set-backs. But unfortunately, it's now looking a bit worn & shabby, so I ordered a replacement. And of course my original brace also stretched out approx. 5-inches during those 5-years, while I in turn added several inches to my waistline. The real problem being that the replacement brace doesn't fit my current 42-inch waist, even though it's range is supposed to be from 28-50 inches. Yes, I can get it on, but without being able to move or breath. But because I like this brace so-much, I decided to take a chance and I ordered the plus sized brace (50-70 inches), which unfortunately was far too large. My overall point being that if your waist-line measures in the 40-50 inch range, you really should be shopping elsewhere, just like I will be, trying to find something equivalent in quality, that also fits. No idea why Mueller doesn't offer an in between size, which they really need to.

Great, wide back support. I have a few others, but this one is the widest. It sites nicely between the hips and the rib cage. The Lumbar lump/pad in the middle does nothing for me. There are 4 stiffeners on either side of the spine, and if you put it on tight, it will keep you upright.

Noteworthy is that when sitting in an office chair with this brace, posture is remarkable. Other back braces I have used allow me to slouch in the chair, but not this one. The width is what keep you nice and upright. Herniated discs, in my case, need perfect vertebrae alignment to manage pain.

I ordered the 28 - 50" size, and I'm 38" waist, 6'0" male. Fits fine, and you can really snug it up. The hook/loop fasteners are remarkable too when new. Once you position the elastic bands, they really stay put...and it takes a good bit of effort to free yourself.

Since it is very wide, anyone shorter than 5'6" should probably have a test run...it might be too wide, and sit either too far up or too far down.

I love this brace...I really wish I bought it sooner. Keep the spine aligned!

I work as a Paramedic, so my back faces frequent strain in all kinds of unpredictable ways. One minute I may be carrying a patient down a flight of stairs, and the next I'm fighting off a dozen ninjas (Are you a paramedic? No? Okay then.) Talk to five people who have been in EMS for a long time. I promise at least one (and probably more) has chronic back problems. I was recently out of work for 15 days with a lumbar strain.

During lifting and totally real ninja battles, I need support for my back, but without sacrificing range of motion. I also need to wear these for the entirety of a 12+ hour shift, so comfort is a must.

I will never wear another lumbar support. This one is perfect. It is very comfortable and provides very even pressure across the back, sides, and belly. It is not noticeable at all between my undershirt and my uniform shirt. putting it on and taking it off are perfectly easy (but the velcro is LOUD. If you have a sleeping spouse or kids you may want to wait until you get to work to put it on.) There are no complicated adjustments, just pull the elastic until you feel there is enough pressure.

I've been wearing it every day at work for about two months now and I have had no problems at all. It has never impeded my movement, or hurt in any way.

Take it from someone who has unrealistically high standards (and needs) for a lumbar support. This is the one to get.

I have tried dozens of braces from Top dollar ones $150 to low end ones $15...this is far the best, doesnt slip off or roll up on you, you can put it as tight as you want to as loose as you want, I use it at the gym for heavy weight lighting, am 6'1 at 260lbs with waist 38-40 an I tell you i have much much room to spare, am so impressed I just ordered 3 more to have in reserve just in case its ever discontinued...Best buy so far I made in a back brace, and I have gone thru a few dozens....Amazon can vouch for it...they accept my returns until I came across this one by accident...if you want a hard sturdy brace and you have a big waist this is for you...trust me....unless they send you a lemon...send it back an get another one...trust me you will be happy....an ohhh its not bulky at all....i wear a tshirt or hoody at the gym you barely can see it

Been in pain in lower back for nearly 3 years... Went to doctor, spine specialist, and have gotten most relief through stretching, massage and chiropractic...! After 2 weeks of wearing this brace.... I can bend over again, I can stand up without agonizing pain... I've prayed and done everything I knew to do... Including inversion - I put it in my bedroom:) I've worked out regularly, strengthened my core... The whole nine yards... But for me, this brace brought it all together.... I am excited to be active again... I thank God for giving this a shot.... I have worn it pretty much from 8 am to 5pm daily.... It's been a major blessing:)))) this is the longest review I've ever done because I hope to add to all the other positive reviews in hopes it will help somebody else the way it's helped me:)))

First , I would like to say that I don't generally like writing reviews, mostly because I don't think my opinion has ever been so great that it would actually help someone. But in this case, I am making an exception. My husband has suffered from serious sciatic pain for years. He has a demanding physical job, is tall and thin. He has zero tolerance for prescription pain medicine, and Advil takes him only so far. We have been in emergency rooms twice, used cheap and expensive tens machines, ice, heat, lidocaine, aspercremes, icy hot, you name it we have tried it. Nothing touches it and what results is him being basically a pain ridden invalid for days on end, making me his maid and caregiver (which is no picnic for me as well), I love him, but jeeez... Anyway, he didn't want a back brace, but I purchased this one anyway. I was desperate. I purchased this one because another review from a wife said it worked so well for her husband that he wouldn't take it off! So, I had hopes but no illusions that this would work for him. He complained about it being stiff and uncomfortable in the morning, but left with it on anyway. Eleven hours later, he's home and in good shape, standing upright. He was amazed at how well it worked for him. He now uses it almost everyday, and we are both delighted. He has said that it offers magical support in all the right places of his lower back, and supports him so well he can sit on a forklift for long periods without pain. This is a giant thank-you to the makers of this product. I can't tell you how much it means to me to offer my man some needed relieft and in doing so, made my life much easier as well. This wasn't even that expensive, completely reasonable, totally effective. Debi Kelly.

Near-instant relief for my spine problems. Pain is a relative thing and difficult to describe given that each of us has differing thresholds. For me, there are four significant areas that have been diagnosed as "serious" with no particular location identified as the source of my pain; it may be all - some - or one; perhaps coming from somewhere else. Simply do not know.

The back brace was my idea - not the physicians nor from pain management. Just my idea to get some relief after two weeks of being unable to sleep, sit or stand without shooting, stabbing pains in the lumbar region at times extending down the back of my legs.

Once the brace was put on - almost magically - I was able to tolerate the situation. Not complete relief, not a cure, but simply able to get on with life without the insufferable pain associated with whatever is going on in my spine.

I wear it for several hours at a time and remove it until feeling the return of the pain. On it goes, pain subsides and my comings and goings resume.

Highly recommended purchase but by all means ensure that competent medical authority is consulted with regard to its use. I had the benefit of imagery (MRI, etc.) and have more than a cursory knowledge of what they reveal.

The velcro forms a tight bond - perhaps too much - but it works and works well. Adjustments may be made to fit ones particular situation. Whether standing, sitting or walking - this works well for me. I do not sleep with it on nor recommend doing so.

I do not wear this against the skin. My preference is to have clothing between it and me - works fine that way with no itching or insensitivity.

Finally, non-narcotic pain medication and muscle relaxers used in conjunction with this device makes the wait to see a neurosurgeon much more tolerable.

This review is 5-star for a reason - only one reason: wearing it provides near-instant relief.

Own three of these after nearly herniating an L3-L4 and L4-L5 degenerated, bulging disc. Two years after the injury, I have pain after sitting for about 30 minutes. If I use this while sitting, I have no pain at all. I also use this while weed wacking now, and it works wonders. Have not had any issues, pain, or sciatica and I have recommend this to many friends. Purchased my first one from wal-mart, but afterwards ordered from Amazon. I have three around the house; one for mowing/cleaning, and two for taking to work. Best back brace I've used with a triple velcro latch so that it gets really tight.

Why I needed the brace: I recently had left hip arthroscopic surgery (Nov 2017) and through physical therapy have realized my core has become weak. I had back fusion of the L5-S1 (1992). I had done daily PT core exercises since the 1992 surgery, but I was unable to do so when I tore my left labrem and gluteus medius in Feb 2017. I only use this brace near the end of the day for standing and ironing or cooking or doing a short walk with the dog. The brace, plus size, ran larger than expected, but it's ok. I like the support and comfort it gives me when I am tired and my posture becomes sloppy at the end of the day.
Description of item: The item came quickly and just as described. It is soft and has some hard areas of support. I like that I can adjust the size and tightness. I am able to wear it over clothes or under them. As I mentioned above the plus size is larger than expected, but still works well. It has a removable lumbar support cushion, I have never removed it as I like the way it feels. The brace gives me support, but allows me to move. I am happy with my purchase.
