As written in other reviews, these seem to be built to last. The wiring is heavy and the sockets appear to be made of brass (I'll know as time passes.) The string is heavy enough that you'll need to use the holes molded into the vinyl above each socket to place a hanger (I used stainless steel screws to attach each socket to the wooden structure.) This string includes seven 2-watt LED bulbs that feel and look like glass (some LED bulbs are plastic.) Since I had no familiarity with the brightness of LED bulbs of this size, I took a chance on the seven light set, figuring I could buy another if it wasn't bright enough. The string has a plug on one end and a receptacle on the other, so they could be easily joined together. I purchased them to provide ambient light under a 10 x 14 pergola. I was not looking to cast enough light to read by; rather, just some mood lighting. I installed an LED dimmer switch in weatherproof electrical hardware just in case they would be too bright. I strung the lights on the front of the pergola (five along the front joist and one on each side joist.) Since I didn't know what to expect, I was surprised to see that the lights cast just the amount of light I wanted when full on -- not too bright and not too dim.
One caveat: With this particular seven-light set, there is about three feet of wire between each light and from the last light on either end and the plug or receptacle. This means that if you connect a second set to the first, you'll have to deal with about six feet of wire between the first lights in the two connected strings. Ideally, the strings could be designed so that this length of wire would be the same as between any two lights in a string (about three feet.) I found the three-foot distance between lights a bit long, so I had to tack the wire between the lights higher on the pergola than the light sockets.
Overall, I think you'll be pleased.
Just got this yesterday and installed. I bought one 48 foot and one 24 foot strand to cover the area I wanted. It is 24 foot from my house to garage so I zig zagged back and forth to create 3 strands. First impression is excellent. Seems to be heavy and very high quality. Also glad I choose to go with the LED version. They are very bright. At midnight my backyard looked like it was complete day light which was a little to bright. So since I needed to install an outdoor plug on the garage I went ahead and installed a lutron universal dimmer switch in its own box. Now I can flip them on just like any other light switch and control the brightness. They are heavy so I installed coated wire with eyelets etc to support these between the house and garage. I would not hang these by their own weight. Too heavy. Excellent purchase so far.
I love these lights! I have always had a thing for cafe lights, so once I got my own house, they were one of my priorities. I hung 3 strands of the 24' lights, which each have 7 bulbs, and it was more than enough to light a small backyard. I paid $27.99 for 2 of the strands new, and $17.49 for a used strand. The price now shows $34.99, which seems high for 7 bulbs, so I would recommend buying the used option if it is available. To hang the lights, I used plastic zip ties to connect each bulb holder to the wire that came with this kit which I also purchased on Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B078SZ554L/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 .
Installation is labor intensive, and can take a while to figure out for a first timer, but it is well worth it for the permanent result! So far, the lights have held up great. I noticed 3 adjacent lights on 1 strand were out when the temperatures were in the single digits, but now that it has warmed back up they are working fine, so it must have just been the fixture contracting, and not a permanently broken bulb.
Tip: Daisy chain all the light strands together, and then plug them into one smart outlet so that you can turn them all on or off using your smartphone or smart home device.
These are very nice lights. Heavy duty feeling and bright. A little brighter than I expected actually, but look great on our travel trailer awning. I'm look for a dimmer for them so I can control the light.
On a side note, the dimmer listed with these as "frequently purchased together" item didn't work for me with these lights. I love the lights but for me, the Lutron Credenza C.L. dimmer didn't pair well with them for some reason.
Update May 27th, 2019
I am still enjoying these lights and have purchased another set to fit around our new 10x10 gazebo. The 2 strands fit but I had to make some adjustments so that the lights wouldn't be too close to each other. 2 strands stretched out would probably fit perfectly around a 12x12 gazebo.
This is a great product that I feel is going to last a long time. We purchased this light strand to replace the incandescent light strand we had since after 2 years a good majority of the bulbs are starting to burn out. It was hung in our 8x8 gazebo and was just long enough to light up the entire area we had hoped it would. The lights are very bright and unfortunately we don't have them on a dimmer switch and so they are going to stay that bright until we decide to change out the switch. I was impressed with how they were packaged in the box. Each bulb was in it's own box and once the strand was hung, the bulbs were very easy to twist in place. I feel with how durable this product is that we won't have to worry about replacing it anytime soon.

I wanted lights on my deck under the pergola beams. I purchased a set from Sams Club that were outside waterproof. Well one of the sets died within 3 months due to water entering the bulbs. They were much cheaper than these - so I am not surprised. I have one set ready to go, but it has been too cold outside for the past several weeks.
These appear to be well constructed for installation where I want it. Bulbs are sealed well and the LED bulbs can be replaced like any bulbs in the house. Cables are much better than the Sams Club versions. A neighbor has these installed on his pergola, and they look great. When the temperature moderates a bit, I will review this one again.
I am very hopeful that these will last a long time.
We live in a very rural area on 2.66 acres. At night, it gets pitch black. During the winter months, we also deal with quite a bit of fog too. I purchased these lights to hang along the front of our house along the patio to see if it would help eluminate the area around the house and we were not disappointed! Easily hung and they give off an amazing amount of light! We are so happy with the outcome, we purchased more strands to hang around the entire perimeter of the house so we are lit up all the way around. We have had quite a bit of rain this past week and these lights are definately weather proof. Don't hesitate to buy these lights. A quality item! I have attached before and after pics.
I am hoping that this review isn't premature in that these arrived yesterday and have been up for 24 hours. I have them hanging on insulated cup hooks under the eaves of my roof and out of the weather. The will never get wet from direct precipitation nor will they be exposed to direct sunlight which should prevent UV and weather damage. The strand was easy to hang and each bulb was intact in the individual boxes. I made a custom-length extension cord (less than 15') that allowed me to run the line from the exterior GFI outlet to the remote-controlled switch (weatherproof and also mounted under the eaves and protected from weather exposure) that the light strand was plugged into. After installing the lights and electrical extension and switch, the lights shown brightly, illuminating my secluded patio. After one night with them on, I am considering replacing the remote controller with one that provides dimming capabilities.
The wiring and the light housings seem to be quite substantive and stout and should withstand year-round usage though I am as yet, undecided whether I will take them down in the fall.
Hard not to repeat what has already been said but the quality of these lights are amazing for the price. At first I was hesitant on so few lights per foot, however they are so well spaced with high lumens lighting it looks like the middle of the day at midnight. My method of installation was inside two open 2x6 pergola beams so basically directionally downward lighting over my grill area and dining table. I used 3/4 eyelids with white rubber coating as my beams are white and they really grip the cable to help ensure there is no sag. Since the spacing is 36 inches they manufactured openings hit the traditional joist spacing on the crossing members - which is a bonus. In terms of lead they give 36 inches from outlet to first bulb and 36 inches from last bulb to next string (if you add one). I simply zip tied up my leftover cord for a clean install. Bottom line I am trying to find a reason to buy more.
We are loving these lights! We bought two strands to string along the town of our patio roof. It’s been about six weeks and not a single light has broken or stopped working, even during heavy storms. The lights are cheerful and warm, and we are looking forward to entertaining a lot this fall.
