Bissell Cleanview Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, Orange, 1831

Over the past few years I have bought several vacuum cleaners. Some were bagless and some had bags. I've had poor success with vacuum cleaners until now. I had a Eureka vacuum cleaner that was supposed to be specially made for people with pets. But before the bag would ever get full, the brush would get full of fur so that I couldn't use it anymore. I recently got another vacuum cleaner, but I couldn't make one pass through my living room before it too was clogged full of hair. So when I got this vacuum cleaner out of the box, I didn't expect it to be better than all the rest. But I had read a lot of comments before purchasing this one and decided to give it a chance. As soon as I began vacuuming the area rug on top of the carpet in my living room, I was amazed as the rug began to appear under all the fur that previous vacuum cleaners couldn't touch. But as amazing as it looked, I knew not to get my hopes up. Many times I had begun vacuuming this same rug when clumps of fur would finally cough up. But that didn't happen with the Bissell Cleanview! As long as it kept sucking up the fur, I kept vacuuming. Finally I began seeing little fur balls appear. Looking at the canister, I realized I probably should have stopped and emptied out the canister. I had just been so excited to see one work!

I liked the way that the canister could be lifted off and taken somewhere to be emptied. When I emptied it, it was so full of fur that I was having trouble getting out fur that jammed up near the filter. No wonder some little fur balls had appeared. I finally took all the fur that got sucked up in the living room and hallway and took some photos of it (I placed it in a plastic container to give a better idea of the amount of fur with top and side views). Then I took a photo of the bottom of the vacuum cleaner - there wasn't any fur down there like every other vacuum cleaner I've ever owned.

But this vacuum cleaner is made to pick up all the fur and dirt and make it easy to clean it up. I was only able to get all the fur out of the canister by lifting out the filter. But it is made to do that easily. Then there is a sponge which was caked with fur and dirt in my case. Instructions said that you could use water and mild detergent to clean it so I rinsed out the parts with a little Dawn dishwashing soap. I put a couple of drops of Dawn on the sponge and all the brown dirt came out. The instructions say to make sure that all the parts are dry before using them again. I dried out the canister with a towel then set it aside to air dry the rest. The sponge looked brand new after I washed it out. By the next morning, everything - including the sponge - was bone dry and ready to go again.

So it seems like my dog has met his match and not a moment too soon. This is peak shedding season. If I had any idea that it was going to perform as well as it did, I would have taken "before" photos of my rug. Now the vibrant colors are back - it is no longer covered with fur.

And one more bonus, it did a great job of sucking up leaves and parts of leaves near my back door! I would give it 6 stars if I could and a definite two paws up!!!

Have long hair? Have you killed other vacuums with your (slightly worrying amount) of shedding? Then look no further.

We bought a bissell canister vacuum a year ago, and it didn't take long for my long hair to just kill the little vacuum. Now, we have this vacuum and our apartment is actually clean because my hair is not too much for it. The bristles have grooves that prevent hair from caking on it, and it's very easy to clean it. The brushes are also adjustable, so you can really get into the carpet if you want.

It's also pretty light for something so heavy duty. I also love that all of the attachments stay on the vacuum, and I don't want to look for that hand attachment. For the price, it's a great vacuum and would really work if your place isn't very big, as the cord isn't super long.

I am both delighted and horrified by this vacuum. The amount of dog hair (100 pound German shepherd and 65 pound lab/shepherd) this sucked out of the family room carpet is impressive and disgusting. I thought the Dyson was doing a decent job on the shag carpet in the family room. Apparently not. The real reason I needed a new vacuum was the black patterned dining room area rug, which attracts dog hair and is the first room guests get to in my house. The Dyson has never done an adequate job on that carpet. This vacuum was true to the 1 pass claim and took all the dog hair off the black carpet. It does sound like a buzz saw, which I don't care about at all. I only care that it picks up dog hair.

The holding tank is huge and easy to empty. The vacuum itself is lightweight enough that my 10 year old used it easily. I really like that the user controls the deck level instead of the automatic adjustment, which never seems to work well. It has been used on low pile carpet, shag carpet, and hardwood. On each surface it did well. The hose was easy to use and did not topple the vacuum over.

This is the single best thing I have purchased this year, it has literally changed my life. I have a husky that sheds 24/7/365 & I have fought with all types of vacuums in the past. After doing enough research that I could get a job writing owner's manuals, I decided on this one because a friend recommended it to me & her carpet always seems clean even with a dog around.

I have to admit, I put off getting a new vacuum for a few weeks when the old one finally died, so my place looked like a fur bomb exploded. About 5 minutes per (large) room with this bad boy & it looked like I had brand new carpet!! I love how easy the canister detaches & the fact that the mechanism for opening/emptying it isn't easily bumped.

I've used a friend's Dyson & honestly I can't tell a difference, so if you have pets & don't want to drop a ton of money - this is a life changer!

This is an inexpensive bagless upright vacuum with a quiet motor and easy controls. Assembly was easy. You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver to fasten the handle. Everything else snaps on. The power is controlled by a foot switch. I was disappointed to find one needs to remove 6 screws to service the brush or replace the belt. I would have expected a more user friendly access method. I'm a bit disappointed in the quality of the attachments. I wouldn't use the dusting brush on my lampshades as I feel the bristles are not soft enough. The bristles on the turbo brush tool are cheap. It did clean my family room carpet very well. I was surprised and embarrassed on the amount of dirt it picked up. If it keeps working this well I can overlook the highlighted deficiencies. Only time will tell if this vacuum is sturdy.

This vacuum cleaner is amazing! I hate having to vacuum the house and usually try to get my girlfriend to do it but this vacuum actually made this mundane chore a breeze! Setup was so easy I didn't need to read the instructions and I vacuumed the carpet and hardwood floor with no issues. It's lightweight, less noisy than previous vacuum cleaners we've owned, moves around easily, and actually picks up all the dog hair in legit one pass! I'll never be in the dog house again for not vacuuming! Thank you Bissell!

Oh and emptying the container is a simple button click!

I love this vacuum! We have 2 cats with thick hair, I have long hair that seems to get anywhere and everywhere, a teenager who gets crumbs everywhere and grinds them into the carpet and a partner who does outdoor work for a living so brings home dirt, plant debris, snow salt and more. I'm asthmatic, so a good vacuum to clean up our messes is VITAL with these household members, for air quality, sanity and health.

This vacuum picks it all up and does not line when it says "one pass." Even on its lowest bare floor setting, it works great. The "silicone" like material around its base helps keep from scraping up walls and getting a close pass each time. I like seeing how full it is and not fussing with bags. Very easy to empty and clean. No issues yet. My favorite small perk is that all the hose heads store right on the vacuum itself without getting in the way. Great vacuum for the price!

This...vacuum... Oh man. I first vacuumed my stairs with the appropriate attachment. Once I turned the vacuum on the wheel in the attachment started spinning at warp speed. I was like, “Oooh, we’re in business now!” THEN I vacuumed the carpet. “One Pass Trchnology” is no joke. It looked, and felt, like I was replacing my carpet with each pass. That’s how deeply it cleans and how manicured it looks afterward. I’m super conscientious about ratings and the reason why I give it 4 stars and not a million is because the hose isn’t very flexible. It stretches but really doesn’t feel like it can when you’re using it. The other functions are so good that I don’t really care, though. However, I haven’t tried the other attachments yet. Oh, and this vacuum assembles easily! Assembly is always a daunting task for me, but really, it was easy! That is my honest review. 👍

I'm very happy with my purchase for this vacuum. Our house is heavily carpeted (and all white carpet, too) plus we have a small dog who sheds and a baby. This vacuum cleans great!

Pros:
Lightweight (we have 2 flights of stairs, and this is easy to carry up and down them)
Super simple to assemble (just have to screw in the handle)
Has a really sleek gliding movement (a lot of vacuums I've used in the past can be cumbersome to move back and forth - this one's not)
Excellent price (I honestly can't believe this vacuum is priced as low as it is!)
Cleans wonderfully on even just one pass
Comes with a "turbo brush" which can be used for smaller areas

UPDATED:
One thing I don't like about it is the that the hose can come loose easily when I use the turbo brush extension, but overall, I still love this vacuum.

Very happy with this purchase!

For those of the customers who do not have severe allergies, you have no idea how much of a pain it is to live with it. I was constantly sneezing up a storm.
Now, I must tell you that this vacuum is amazing. From the tiniest particles of dust in the carpet, there's no escape. I was so excited when this arrived, that I opened the box and immediately opened it, set it up and started vacuuming.
Prior to this vacuum, I had multiple Shark vacuums and another really expensive, heavy-duty piece of crahhhhp. Among all of the vacuums throughout my life, this is the by far, the nicest one so far. And for the price, you really can't beat a high-quality vacuum, considering it's going against all the other vacuums.

Pros:
- It's Bagless - no more dust bunnies everywhere from having to remove dust bags.
- It's not that heavy.
- It maneuvers easily, where the core of the vacuum moves side-to-side easily so I can get into the nooks and crannies of the house.
- It's lightweight, but sturdy and reliable.
- Easy to remove the filter.
- Because the core is clear, you can see the dirt buildup clearly. It's really amazing how much it picks up. Just shows that no matter how clean your carpet may look, there will always be an incredible amount of dirt, hair, and particles that aren't quite visible to the eye until you see it for yourself.
- Easy to remove the dust/collected gross things picked up from the carpet -- just by pressing the bottom and out into the trash can.
- Picks up dirt and everything else with ease.
- Option to switch up the volume from low (wood / tile floors) to high (carpets).
- The lever that is pushed to lower the core of the vacuum (for easy maneuverability of the vacuum) is also really nice. Instead of pushing directly into it, you actually push outward, to the left.
- Long cord so I'm able to vacuum from the room, the bathroom, and onto the living room before I have to replug into another outlet for the tv/desk area.
- Has a mini vacuum that can be attached to the core -- great for smaller pickups like dog hair.
- Can remove the core and wash it with water to clean the dirt off it (dries in no time and back into place it goes).
- Price is really great for such a great vacuum.

Cons:
- I have nothing. I can't think of anything.

Overall, really amazing vacuum. Sucks up all the dirt, hairs, and nasty things from the carpet and tile floors of the house. For the price, this vacuum is a life saver. More than satisfied with this vacuum.
