For the last decade or so, all modern dishwashers have had a removable/cleanable metal screen at the bottom. For years, I would go through the painstaking process of removing this and other associated parts every 4 to 6 months, and cleaning off the sludge that always accumulated and clogged it up. When shopping for a new dishwasher, I described this problem and asked the sales person to show us models without this screens. To which he replied "they all have them now, it is a code required feature, however it sounds to me like you're simply using too much dishwashing soap. The liquid stuff does not dissolve very well, and if you squirt a bunch in and fill up the cup, it causes that build up that's very hard to remove." He recommended the dishwasher packs (which I always thought were a more expensive gimmick). I've been using these in a new dishwasher since 2015 and I haven't had to clean anything out yet! I haven't seen any change in performance of the cleaning power either. I recommend.
I used to use Cascade dishwasher detergent but then started using another well-known competing brand because they were a little cheaper. All I can say is, you get what you pay for! The other brand never fully washed off my dishes so my dishes and dishwasher had a gross, soapy film left behind & didn't get fully clean. Now that I've switched back to Cascade, my dishes are super clean again and my dishwasher is even fresh & clean too. If you're wondering whether Cascade Complete ActionPacs Dishwasher Detergent is worth the price - it is!
Cascade, as a product, does an excellent job at cleaning dishes. Having a teenage son, we go through a LOT of dishes. And, as expected, most of his are never scrapped of or rinsed before being put in the dish washer (rolling eyes emoji). At times, some even appear after a week of being hidden in the abyss called a tern’s room (like the milk glass, used for cereal, in the photo). The glass, stained with almost week old cereal and unrivaled, was iplaced slid in the dish washer, with a load from our spaghetti dinner. As you can see, it came out shining; Cascade Complete to the rescue!!
The only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5, was because of how it was shipped. As you can see, from the other 2 photos, the interior package was damaged; the outside package didn’t show that level of damage. The box had no padding/paper on the inside to prevent it from being slammed around.
After reading the glowing report from Consumer Reports on these pods, we bought these. We’ve only used them two or three times, but we’re still getting some white residue, but only on plastics, mostly plastic glasses. The glass glasses are good now. Per the instructions of a user on CR, we placed the pod powder side down in the bottom of the d/w and then put Borax in the soap dispenser. I’m not a recthe Borax helped or not, but it seemed to help a bit. The CR reviewer also put vinegar in the drying dispenser and said the combo did a great job on a low end dishwasher. So, we’re still experimenting and that’s why I gave these pods a 4 star, instead of 5 star review. We have also ran empty cycles to wash the dishwasher by tossing a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar in, which it is recommended on a monthly basis. Ironically, CR has down rated these pods and replaced the top spot with Kirkland (Costco) brand. Most likely, they are the same pod, just cheaper...CR seems to like to support store brands by not revealing the real manufacturer of the store brand. But, smart consumers can get around this by researching and asking sales people, as when buying appliances.
Cascade is a quality brand dishwasher detergent that will clean your dishes thoroughly and leave your dishes sparkling clean. This was my first purchase of any type of pod detergent online or in a physical store. I have an older model dishwasher and was slightly anxious about using any brand detergent pod.
However, I am happy to report that Cascade pods worked great in my older model dishwasher. As you can see from the photos, I did not have any pod residue left over in the detergent container and the drinking glass is sparkling clean. Also, my shipping experience was great. As you can also see from the photos my Cascade container was not broken, chipped, or damaged in any way. Also, none of the Cascade pods were broken or pierced. I even emptied the container to make sure I didn't have loose detergent in the bottom. Everything was good. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. I may even try laundry detergent pods next.

Packaging is not sufficient enough at times to protect an item from damage. The product inside the broken container (the dishwashing pods) were unharmed. These pods are about a penny per pod cheaper than anywhere near me. (I LOOKED..lol) Note: I am using the using the 15% discount through monthly subscribe and save for 5+ monthly items to calculate 15% vs 5%.
Easy to dispense into the dishwasher. The only thing I feel like is when I run the “quick” cycle on the dishwasher, there’s a residue of this product on our dishes. Not a visible residue, but one we can taste. I’m not sure if that’s my dishwasher’s or the detergent’s fault, but all of the dishes come out clean and residue free on my normal cycle. I’m not the kind of person that puts super rinsed off dishes in the dishwasher, I load up the 24 hour caked on food residue and hit start, in normal cycle, all sparkly clean!!
I've used all of the other 'budget' brands. I'll never use them again. EVERYTHING in the dishwasher is sparkling clean. Hint: I run the hot water at the sink before I start the washer -- so the washer uses the hottest water available.
Love love love this disher detergent! Very rare that I ever find a dish or silverware not completely clean, and when I do it is always user error. I can be confident with detergent knowing I don't have to wash my dishes before the dishwasher washes them. It's never let me down!
Great clean smell, never had to rewash anything. have it in subscribe and what a life saver to know that it'll be delivered, right when you need it and not have to stress about purchasing one since Amazon has it on a monthly delivery, once or twice we switched it to every 2 months, the subscription is so easy to use. Great buy and great price on Amazon
