A must have for anyone recuperating from foot, ankle, or knee surgery. After struggling to make my way to the toilet on my own after 2 foot and ankle surgeries, finally decided to humble myself and get this potty chair to make recovery from surgery #3 easier. I wish I’d gotten it earlier! Easy to assemble and move around as needed. Extra bonus is that you can place a roll of toilet paper on the bar next to the seat (see photo). Doctor tells you to drink lots of water to flush your system of general anesthesia and remedy constipation caused by pain killers. Only problem is, you’re going to make countless trips to the potty. On one foot. And under the influence. Placed next to the bed, this potty chair made going #1 safe and convenient. My caregiver (husband) said it was easy to pour the bucket’s contents into the toilet, rinse, and sanitize. Tip: He sprayed the bucket with an enzyme cleaner we use to mop up cat and dog urine with to keep it smelling fresh. The chair is sturdy and stable, with a seat that’s similar to our portable camping potty. The bucket is shallow, which could pose a problem for relieving oneself of more than urine. However, when empty and clean, I found it useful as an emergency container for “throw up”. The lid helps to contain odors. Weighing 165 lbs., balancing on the good foot, and holding the solid arm rails, I was able to transfer from bed to potty chair comfortably without fear of everything collapsing. Full disclosure: I scootered myself to the bathroom toilet for #2, because I thought it too much for husband to have to deal with that. He’s never even changed a baby’s diaper.
Serves its purpose. Was easy to put together, except I had problems snapping on the seat and back because I've had surgeries on my hands and they were just not strong enough to snap them on, but otherwise it was no problem to assemble. I do wish it had a tissue holder with it but I'll rig up something for that purpose.

I totally thought I wouldn't need this, but when I was alone at night and for days at a time, wheelchair bound, this was a lifesaver.
I put it right next to my bed so I could swivel on my good foot onto the potty.
I was afraid I'd tip it over and end up on the floor in a writhing mess of pee, but it held me just fine. (Was around 195 lbs at the time. Don't judge.)
I got but didn't use the plastic bags. Why bother? You can just wash it out, and then you don't have your pee-in-a-bag sitting in the municipal dump for the next 2,500 years.
My first order of the Drive Medical Steel Folding Bedside Commode arrived 4 days ago in a beaten up package and the product was missing a part ... also a badly crushed part that made assembly impossible. I tried to return this and got "Item not returnable". Then I called Amazon and they immediately offered to send me a replacement or refund. I chose replacement and was told that I should just scrap the first shipment ... no need to return. Today we received the replacement Drive Medical Steel Folding Bedside Commode and everything is perfect. It is strong, made of quality material and adjustable to quite a range of heights. It was very easy to assemble, taking less than 5 minutes.
I would recommend this product to anyone needing a bedside commode. We are using it to be prepared for medical problems we will be facing in the future. Until then it is stored, fully assembled in one of our closets. Amazon's great customer service is one of the reasons we shop often with them.
Extremely NICE! VERY STURDY, FOLDING commode! Bought this for my mother who had major reconstructive foot surgery so she wouldn't have to get up and go all the way into the bathroom Everytime she needed to use the restroom and it has been a lifesaver to be honest. This is such a nice, extremely well built product that is very sturdy and can be used as a commode by itself, the bottom taken out and put over the toilet for a raised toilet in the bathroom with handrails, or folded up and put away discreetly for another time. It's alao be great (I know this sounds weird) to take with you when you travel and camp for those who don't like to squat outside.... You can raise it with the adjustable legs to make it as High or as low as you need it based upon your height THIS IS DEFINITELY WORTH MORE THAN WHAT WE PAID FOR IT AND IS THE BEST ONE OUT THERE FOR SURE IN MY OPINION

If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would. The only reason I'm giving a 4 rather than a 5 is because of something that went wrong during assembly which I'm sure was just a fluke and not indicative of the overall quality of the commode. The legs adjust by brass push pins; you push the pin in then slide the leg up or down to the next hole and the push pin will pop through the hole. Well, one push pin wouldn't pop out, so I tried pushing it in to get it to pop out. It didn't work, so I did it again and the pin disappeared. I had to take of the rubber feet from the leg (easy) but then there was a plastic plug in the leg which was not easy to remove. I had to get a wire coat hanger to go up and get the thing out. Then, I wasn't sure how to position the spring-like device onto the push pin and into the leg. I managed to get it working. It was extremely frustrating but may partially have been my fault.
But this is an excellent, lightweight but sturdy, Commode. I bought this for my elderly mother who recently had a bad fall trying to lift herself up from the commode in her bathroom (it's a high commode, but only 17"). This commode, with the legs fully extended, measures 22" high at the seat and those 5 inches make a world of difference. The side arms help as well. The bucket under the seat has a handle on it and also comes with a lid. Mom uses it only for urinating and uses the regular commode for the other, but I bought some commode pail liners if she needs to use it for bowel movements as well. I would recommend anyone using this for bowel movements buy the liners. They're waterproof, have a drawstring closure and you just throw them away and no commode pail to clean out. This potty chair was exactly what was needed for me. I broke my ankle and although I could get around reasonable well, this chair came in handy at night. I have a 9 inch step up from my bedroom to get to my bathroom and I would hop up backwards on one foot and then pull my walker up after me. During the day, when I would be very awake, alert, and it was light in the room, this was very doable. But when waking up in the middle of the night, it was somewhat nerve wracking and I did struggle a bit.
So, enter this inexpensive chair and voile! An excellent solution. Easy to clean. I kept toilet paper and wet wipes next to the chair and it worked qell for me.
Bought for my mom, who can't always make it from her bedroom to the toilet in the middle of the night. She has said several times now that this commode is wonderful. As for fit, she's maybe 5' tall and 130 lbs. The legs can be adjusted even lower than she needs and quite a lot taller, as well. I sat on it just to sit on it and it seems fine - I'm over 6' and 250 lbs. It does not include a toilet paper roll holder, so I had to find one separately to solve that minor issue. Lastly, the bucket is easy to carry, empty, and clean and includes a lid.
I bought this potty for camping. The other outdoor potties were very expensive and weren't very sturdy. I remember seeing my great grandma with one of these in her room and thought "hey why wouldn't that work for camping too?" I took out the little pot part and we dug a hole in the ground under the potty and used that instead of a bucket, we did put a rock or board in front of the potty to keep the "splashing" down and we could adjust the height to something we all could agree on. I'm not going to lie, because we went camping when weather was very cold this made for a very cold seat in the mornings but nothing so intolerable that we couldn't use the potty. All in all very sturdy and great for camping as well as bedside use if needed.
Great and less expensive alternative to camping potty
I broke my foot which required 3 months to heal so taking care of business was frankly hellish. This affordable product made the healing process bearable. It improved my quality of life while I recovered so I am eternally grateful for that.
It’s easy to assemble and pretty light, it seems to hold weight well but horizontal movement makes it feel flimsy and rickety. The adjustable levels work great. The seat is very thin and not comfortable but at this price I was not expecting luxury. It helped get the job done and I would recommend it to anyone who needs one temporarily. I’m sure it’ll last but if you need one for regular use I’d suggest looking for one with more comfortable seating. If that isn’t an issue than you can’t go wrong with this one.
