These work all through the night and lately we have been having rain for the last few days and they are still lighting with no direct sunlight only dark clouds. One day it was completely raining from sunup to sundown and I did not think they would light at all, but they did and were still working 8 hours later when I went to bed. I have them on my wood fence outside my front door and have the solar panel attached at the top of the fence.

UPDATE: SO DISAPPOINTED IN THESE. Well, these did not even last 4 months. Another set that I had by another company lasted 2 years. Looks like the solar panel that is on top is breaking all apart. Evidently not meant for hot weather we have down in South Louisiana.

I have been decorating our double back deck, backyard and arbor for years with solar lights, color changing stake lights and mobiles. Our backyard is a real fairy land which is greatly enjoyed by neighbors, friends and family. Neighbors are adopting the idea too. These nice long strings of tiny lights on green cords disappear on plants and trees nicely until night when they light up. I've even put them on my nine huge tomato plants that are in 20 gallon buckets on the deck. The only thing to watch for is to be sure the chargers have good sunlight exposed, I.e. move leaves from covering chargers as plants grow. I've put them on my Asian pear trees too. Beautiful!
I highly recommend these
Love these mini solar lights!

First things first...These are solar-powered lights, so they have drawbacks that electric-powered lights do not have. For example, if you have a cloudy day, your lights will probably not make it through the night. Additionally, they do not put out as bright a light as electric models. However, for solar-powered lights, these rate five stars. And for me, their drawbacks are far outweighed by their electricity savings and environmental friendliness

But, here are some tips to to deal with their drawbacks:
(1) For added brightness, wrap the lights very tight rather than fully extending the string. At 72 feet, the string is pretty long. I have about ~15 foot-long railings leading up a stairway to my front door, which itself is 10 feet tall. I wrapped a strings very closely along the length of each of those railings, and still had plenty of room to run the string fairly up the side of my front door so that the two strings met in the middle at the top. In my opinion, the lights are plenty bright that close together.
(2) For longer lasting light, make sure the solar panels are in a place where they receive the longest exposure to the sun. They have a decent lead from the beginning of the lights, so extend the lead out as far away from your house as possible. And, if you're home (like on the weekend), move them to receive more light in the evening. Even on cloudy days, I've never had them turn off before midnight.
(3) For longer lasting light, turn them on "Flashing" mode. It saves energy, so after a cloudy day, the lights will last longer.

One final note - they have a sensor so they ONLY light up when it's dark. I made the mistake of thinking mine were broken at first because I thought when I pressed the "ON" button they were supposed to come on right away. Pressing the "ON" button just turns the sensor on. You cannot make them turn on before the light gets low enough outside.

After a trip to Belgium, where we marveled at all the LED string lights everywhere, we went on a mission to find the equivalent in the states. Most of our lights are either the old incandescent bulb style, or just a conversion of that old (fat) housing with LEDs in place of the old bulb. The ones in Europe we noticed were tiny in comparison, with the LED itself being the widest part, rather than fitting into a wider housing (old-school style), and these are perfectly that!

This also comes with a battery pack that serves as a control unit, with a ton of great settings, most importantly the ability to run for 6 hours, every 24 hours. Perfect for and evening patio! As the batteries fade, the light gets dim, and in my opinion, this is where the lights look the best - like tiny pinpoints of light. I'll be attempting to hook these up to a solar panel and replicate the voltage of dying batteries :p

Definitely waterproof and last a long time on a set of batteries. These were wrapped around a wire Christmas reindeer and set outside from Thanksgiving to New Year and worked without a hitch. I put the battery pack in a plastic bag and set it under a raised shed wall to keep out the worst of the weather, but it got wet all the same, and kept working.

THese work perfectly- our old house didn't have a plug to do front Christmas lights the old fashion way- these wrapped our columns as well as some extra on the front. Very satisfied

I was told these aren't that bright by the seller...not true if you live in the country where there is NO city lights. I am very pleased with these solar lights and I'll definitely order more to decorate for my mom's birthday party.

UPDATE 11/24/18 over a year and a half later: I left the lights up since I purchased them. They are still working 100%. Even on days when it’s an overcast they work, They're just less bright. They were a very good buy. I would still recommend.

It's been one full week and so far I LOVE these. Two strands fully covered a 7' christmas tree. The timers and various blinking options are great. Each strand is powered by three D batteries. I totally expected to have to change the batteries frequently, but no. I put some 4 yrs old batteries (seriously, they were old) and they have been going 7 days now and barely looking weak. I even had them on most of the weekend. I even took a third strand and created a long garland like in the hallmark movies. It's so nice not worrying about plug in lights getting hot and burning the tree. These are awesome. I did NOT receive these free or at discount for a review, I just seriously enjoy these.

UPDATE: Week 3 and I have some concerns. Some of the lights seemed to have dimmed. Brand new batteries and many lights are bright, but some have a few have dark spots. For $13 per strand and $26 per tree I can't complain much. Wish I knew why they were failing. But I would probably buy another set of these anyways because I like the way their blinking patterns alternate and my fear of the tree burning down is completely eliminated.

My granddaughter had an indoor fairy garden but when we spread these lights around my flower bed she moved the fairies outside. These lights are tiny and beautiful! I can't help but admire them each night before I go to bed. I live in southeastern NC and we have abundant sunshine. On sunny days they last from about 8:30 pm until 6 am. If we have clouds or even an occasional mostly rainy day they still come on for a few hours when it gets dark. Everything arrived as ordered and there were no surprises. I ordered the white lights and they are exactly that. I am more than delighted with this purchase. And, the fairies are happy, too ;-)

So these lights are super cute but very fragile. I put them on two fences at,the front of my house and after 1 day one of the strings were broken...not sure if an animal or maybe the lawn mower cut the string...either way the string was tight to the fence and I had no explaination...now my front is lopsided lol. Not really willing to buy more until I see how the second string holds up.
Updated:
So the company contacted me following this review asked about the damage and for pictures....they then refunded me for 1 string....pretty awesome company will be reordering!
