Shark Steam Pocket Mop Hard Floor Cleaner with Swivel Steering XL Water Tank (S3501)

This is a great product. I did not know how much I needed this until I had it.

Through trial and error, I've basically tried every floor cleaning solution that is not this product. String mops, sponge mops, Swiffers, and the Swiffer wet-jet thing. They all fall short in some way (or in every way for some of them). This product is all of those things combined, but better.

It's a Swiffer that you don't have to buy pads for. It's a mop that you don't have to buy floor cleaner for, or change water for. It's that wet-jet nonsense, but it cleans better, and PICKS DIRT UP instead of turning it into mud and pushing it around.

I was skeptical when my wife ordered this. The first time I used it, I became a believer. The steam thing is not a gimmick. Fill it up with distilled water (I was warned sternly not to use tap water), and it's ready to go. It heats up faster than the hot water on the sink, cleans better that whatever floor cleaner or Swiffer baby wipe you can buy, it dries much faster, and then you just toss the pad in the laundry and reuse it. I wish everything worked this well.

This isn't a vacuum, and this isn't a broom. You should sweep the floor, at least half-assedly, beforehand. That's true with all of the other products too. I'm lazy, and I don't sweep every time. I put my hand flat on the floor, and if there are no more than three visible pieces of stuff stuck to my hand when I look at it, I skip the broom and go right to the Shark. Please don't tell my wife.

I've known I wanted one of these for a very long time (first time I saw one was on an infomercial as a kid! Heh). What made me FINALLY purchase it was Amazon's low price and knowing that I would be cleaning my floors chemical free. What made me pick this one vs any other steam mop was a review another person wrote comparing this mop to other steam mops. Sure, this was the average rated rated steam mop, but it has the longest cord and I already love my shark vacuum.

What has impressed me is how easy it was to put together (less than 5 minutes), didn't even need to look at the instructions. The long cord allows me to clean longer and larger areas, which I need! The pad is easy to put on and take off, plus it picks up so much dirt and gross stuff off the floor. I also appreciate the easy pour cup. It doesn't take very long for the water to heat up either, you're moping in only a minute. It sounds so much like a cross between a steam iron and a clothing steamer.

I was nervous to buy this mop because there were more than usual poor reviews about this mop either being defective, or not working as advertised. The one I got was perfect, absolutely nothing wrong. So it's either user error, or the quality control for this product isn't as good as it could be...this is the cheapest shark steam mop.

I LOVE mine, I hope you love yours too.

So, I just had a professional cleaning service do a deep clean of my house. They did a great job. Then, just for kicks because I just bought it and I want to try out my new toy, I mopped the hardwood floors in my house. No disrespect to the cleaning service because they did their best, but this mop pulled up the ground in dirt and grime that a traditional mop couldn't hope to touch. The bright white mop cover came up dark brown after just one pass! I'm super glad I bought this, and I'm really glad I bought the extra covers because I could easily use multiple covers during a cleaning! At first, I thought that the cord that came with it was excessively long, but now that I've used it, I'm glad it has such a long cord because I was able to reach my whole house with minimal cord movement. The only unfortunate thing is that the handy cup that comes with it to fill the reservoir does not store on board and I can see myself losing the cup over time. Not enough to reduce the rating, just an observation.

This review is going to out me as the lamest person ever, but with my Christmas Amazon gift cards, I got myself a steam mop. Holy cow, you guys. Game changer. It's super easy to use and quickly cleans even my filthy front entry, which is often covered with messes from wet, dirty winter boots. The mop is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The technique takes a bit of getting used to, but you’ll have it down by the end of your first use. With this mop, cleaning my tile floors takes me less than half the time I spent with a mop and bucket, and my floors dry a lot faster, too. Only drawback: I wish I could more easily see when the mop is running low on water. A note if you purchase this mop: do the dirtiest part of your floor last, when your mop has had some time to really heat up and the pad has gotten a little wet.

I love my Shark steam mop-did an awesome job on my tile!!!! I've owned 2 Shark steam mops in the past-loved them, but they quit after using them for about a year. However, I used tap water and Arizona has hard water, so I'm sure it's the minerals that eventually clogged the machine and contributed to it's failure-my fault. In the interim, I used another brand of steam mop, which was far inferior to the job the Shark did. I re-ordered this Shark steam mop after the last brand died, and I'm so impressed...again! Way more steam, bigger water tank, longer cord, and love that you can flip the head over for double cleaning with 1 cloth.

Description

Shark Steam Pocket Mop Hard Floor Cleaner with Swivel Steering XL Water Tank (S3501)

I've had this product for 2.5 months. I like that I can clean my laminate flooring well without the use of chemicals. I have found that the best way for me to avoid streaks on the floor is this. First, I vacuum the floor. Then, I clean the floor with the Shark Steam Pocket Mop with the grain of the flooring. I start at one side going over the same area 3-4 times before moving on to the next area. I overlap my strokes as I work across the floor. Even though I vacuum, I found that just 2-3 swipes across a given area is more likely to leave streaks and not really clean the area well. I move slowly and let the mop do the work, meaning I don't put any undue pressure on the mop. The mop pads wash and dry beautifully in with my towels and/or rugs and bathmats. If I need to change them out and continue mopping without time to wash them in the washing machine, I rinse them under hot water in the sink with the nozzle set to spray. Then, I wring them out well by hand and they are ready to keep cleaning. If the dirt builds up on the pad, I am also more likely to get streaks on the dry floor. At this point, I feel like this was a good value.

This is my 3rd Shark mop. They change very slightly of the years. NOT well made in places. The reason they fail not necessarily faulty design but less than optimum parts in steam passage areas. I recommend (as does the manufacturer) distilled water in this appliance. Hard water will make it fail quicker. A small shot of vinegar in the water tank won't hurt either unless you're using this on a carpet. Even that won't hurt except for the smell of vinegar lingering for a few days (which I don't recommend). The item itself is very easy to use. The reason for 4 stars is because if you know nothing of maintenance for this mop, it won't last long. Take a few moments each use and make sure you DRAIN IT upon finishing using it. In fact I would turn it upside down (mop end up) and leave the small cap on the water tank OFF to allow air to circulate. This also allows any residual water "drain" back towards the tank and the air should assist in drying it out. The reason for vinegar? : It cuts alkali in water. It is a softener of sorts as well as a cleaner for your tiled surfaces. I recommend this item with no misgivings. Take care of it a little and it will last longer.

I clean the floor every other day, usually on my hands and knees, with scrubs and floor cleaning products thinking it was the best way to get all the dirt out. I have messy kids and definitely have had plenty of dirty shoes walked thru the house. But I have been trying to lean off chemical use in the house and the organic products don't seem to do the trick for me. I saw the review on this product and thought to give it a try.
Pretty sure the picture itself says it all!

So I ordered this because I got approved for an amazon prime store card and it came with a 60 dollar gift card and voila! After adding more cleaning pads this easy to use steam mop and two more mop pads cost me a mere 10 dollars. I wanted to newer version but who can argue with 10 bucks, essentially a free steam mop. I have several pets some of whom pee on the tile floors so I really needed this item. Like any Shark product, it was easy to assemble and to use. It doesn't have an on / off switch. You have to plug it in and wait about 30 seconds. Then you pump the handle up and down for steam and it really brings up the dirt. You turn a dial on the body of the mop and pull the dial out and use the provided funnel to add preferable distilled water. I vacuumed well first and then the steam mop did it's magic. The mop pads are double sided so you can flip them over and use the other side. So 1 mop pad is like having 2. This means I can almost eliminate Swiffers which are very expensive. Make sure to read the directions because to sanitize you need to go over the area 15 times.
I highly recommend this item due to its low price and ease of use. Don't like that it doesn't have an on off switch but you can't have everything. It's a great deal.

Works great, is compact, light weight and simple to use. It is somewhat difficult to find the right replacement heads. Even though many companies make them, they have extremely variable performance. The ones with the longer nap, like string mops, are best.
