I am impressed with this box-spring. The quality of the build is excellent, and the craftsmanship impressed me. Years ago I delivered furniture, having put together many different types of furniture, beds etc. I have seen some alternative box-springs and whatnot, but this takes the cake. Unlike a traditional box-spring made with wood, this is not going to wear down over time and squeak due to the grip of the nails in the wood (a common issue with squeaking in construction).
First, assembly took me about 20 minutes, and I didn't even need the instructions. I was able to put this together easily by myself and move it by myself as well.The parts are marked "up" conveniently where you might go astray in the build, and it stays together well enough before adding the bolts/nuts so that one person can do it alone, provided you do it on a flat surface such as the floor.
I love that this boxspring can come apart too, if anyone needs to get it into a tight area (the worst part of a bed delivery, imo is the box-spring as it cannot bend/fold). I have gone from a two part box spring for a queen mattress down to this and it makes NO sound whatsoever.
Craftsmanship is excellent, and the parts fit together like a glove. The "slats" are not attached by screws, rather just sitting in place, but they are wedged in place and do not move out of place. Only weak spot I thought of was having the zipper face down so that the zipper part of it sits on frame (thus possibly cracking the zipper or its mechanism) but the zipper comes toward the center of the box-spring far enough to clear the side boards of my bed, so I will have to see if the zipper takes damage over time from the downward pressure. Certainly not going to knock anything for that.
Edit: Dec 1, 2017: This is still absolutely quiet and no squeaks at all over the past couple months. Really highly recommend this box spring to anyone looking for a lifelong keeper.
1st - the person who gave 2 stars put the frame together WRONG.
2nd - It's super easy to put together. Strong & sturdy. I'm very pleased.
3rd - The covering you need to be careful and help it zip up, don't just zip. It may tear. Pull the to be zipped pieces together a little at a time and zip. It is a tight fit, but works and looks nice.

This is a fantastically engineered and manufactured product. I have been a design engineer in the consumer product space my entire working career (38 years) and I found this to be one of the best products that I have ever purchased . The parts were accurately made so that all of the screw holes easily aligned. Parts that were supposed to fit together actually did fit together! The hardware required was entirely packaged in a blister pack. Not only did this ensure that all screws were sent but Zinus provides spares! The instructions were very well done with pictures detailing each step. They even went as far as marking each part and showed the part numbers clearly in their instructions.
My hat is off the the Zinus project team (engineers/marketing/quality/manufacturing) who put this all together. Good work, look for my resume to arrive shortly!
Solid structural steel! This is one over-designed box frame. Assembly takes an hour. The instructions/diagrams are 90% accurate. One diagram had an error in the way it depicted a connection. But it could only fit together one way so it wasn't a problem. The zip-up fabric covering is a tight perfect fit. Be sure to wrap the bottom of the elastic cover onto the bottom of the boxspring structure first. Pull it all the way up to the top of the boxspring structure. Then it's an easy zip. HIGHLY Recommended!
Honestly this is the best thing ever!! It makes me feel like we bought a new mattress. A few months ago me and my boyfriend bought a brand new mattress but we thought we sank too much and blamed it on the mattress. Two weeks ago our box spring finally gave up and after sinking even more I decide to give this box spring a chance and OMG it's like if I also bought a brand new mattress this box spring has changed the way my mattress is. We no long sink towards each other. We don't feel each other move as much and our bed feels so firm it's amazing this box spring is honestly the best thing ever. Really recommend it

I read just a few reviews prior to purchase, and one rather negative review had to do with assembly. I didn't know there were mattress bases that needed assembly, couldn't even visualize how it would arrive or what would be required. I am a 68-year-old woman and had this base together within 30 minutes! The design is brilliant! And it is solid as can be without any noise whatsoever.
This box spring was very easy to put together. It took my husband and I about an hour. Some of the other reviews said the cover was so tight it broke the zipper, and we thought this at first but realized we had it on the wrong way. We put it on the other way and it zipped up just fine without having to tug on it much. It will work perfectly for our memory foam mattress. I like that it is made of metal and not wood like our old box spring. It seems like it will hold up much better. Highly recommend!
Arrived quickly and none of the pieces had and problems. I can see how people had trouble with putting it together as the pieces themselves aren't labeled, but if you take two minutes to look at the directions and pieces it's easier to figure out. There are different amounts of the screws (I believe it is 2, 4, and 8), so if you only need two screws for a step, it is probably the screws that there are only two of. The most difficult part was putting on the cover, but still doable. I'm 5'5 and was able to get this all put together myself. The only thing I did not do was carry the box up the steps, but if I didn't have someone here to carry it you can open it and bring up the pieces in a couple trips. Probably took me a total of 20 minutes to put together.

Bought these box springs to replace old squeeky ones and love it so far. It took me about an hour and a half to put them together but it was pretty simple, and they do their job. My only complaint is that the king size box spring is less wide than the opening of our bed frame by about an inch or two, so it slides around (we used to have 2 twin box springs for our king bed and it was a perfect fit). I guess I need to put padding on one side to prevent it from sliding, but overall these are great.
