Epica Silicone Coated Ironing Board Cover- Resists Scorching and Staining - 15

I just replaced an old, old, ironing board cover. The ironing board I have is nearly antique (an old fold up wooden board that was my mother's. Probably goes back to the 1930's). It is a bit larger than the dimension that were given in the description and at first I thought I would have to return it, but I stretche and stretched and go another inch out of it. It holds up beautifully, especially when I get overzealous and fill my iron with too much water and it spills out. The water is easy to wipe off without the cover getting wet. Items I iron also glide easier over the board. I do wonder how many people will read this as the number of women that I know that still iron are few!

Just over six months ago I purchased a Checkys Deals Silver Silicone Metallic Wide Top 18" X 48" - 49" Ironing Board Cover and Thick 6mm PAD from Amazon. It is a nice ironing board cover and I was happy with it. One of my cats decided that the ironing board would be a great place to do a little claw cleaning and she put several holes in it. The damage was not a result of any defect in the cover. I am not sure that Kevlar would have escaped unscathed. I tried ironing on the damaged cover but realized I was going to have to replace it as the iron was catching on the holes. I went back to Amazon and decided to look at all the available silicone coated covers and I found this one. This one had more positive reviews than the Checkys cover so I ordered it. I can honestly say that the Epica is, in my opinion, the better of the two because:
1. It has more padding than the Checkys cover.
2. It fit on top of the old cover giving it even more padding. I had to remove the old cover to use the Checkys cover.
3. It has two velcro straps to hold the cover in place. I added two more Dritz fasteners but I doubt I really need them. The Checkys cover
has no straps and it moved around a bit. I had trouble trying to use the Dritz straps on the Checkys whereas they fit fine on the Epica.

The overall quality of the Epica cover is just better. The one piece of advice I would give to anyone buying this cover is to make sure to install it nose end first. There is more material at the nose of this cover and while that makes for a nice secure fit, it does make it pretty much impossible to put the wide end on first.

I feel rather ancient after having received my Epica ironing board cover. It is awesome, actually more than awesome, it is Epic-a marvel to behold. To remove wrinkles, I've used irons that create tremendous amounts of steam; I've used presses, starch, no starch, water, no water, angry stares, a bag of middle fingers--I've tried it ALL to make ironing easier. Being ambidextrous, ironing would perhaps seem to be easier & quicker, switching hands, but when you do not have the right tools, what do you do? And never once did it occur to me that my ironing COVER could be an issue. I thought all covers were made the same, so I never bothered to investigate this.

BUT NOW, shoooooooot, gentlemen, ladies, the last letter in my acronym will now & for always be properly maintained. ~Smooth is in session, and Epica has taught me a very valuable lesson~I guess I'm confessing, and though I upgraded my iron, Epica is also a true blessing~I have an attitude about everything I do, and to enhance my loveliness is not just for me: it's also for you~No matter what you wear, you shouldn't have a wrinkle~Care enough to add some sprinkle to always make sure your ensemble blissfully twinkles~Fitting like a glove, this is like no other~Whether you want creases or no, Epica literally & truly has you & your ironing board covered~It doesn't cost much, they're clearly thinking about you & me~And along with their low, low price comes a two year warranty~So for just a little bit of money that you'll have to spend~The price & coverage ensures it's undoubtedly a win-win~Keeping It So Smooth, that's what Epica is all about~You won't be disappointed~
~No diggity~No doubt~

Looked in all my local sewing, dept & craft stores, but Amazon was the only place that had these reflective covers. It makes a big difference, esp when ironing things that can scorch or be easily damaged by high heat. I don't need to use any sprays or starches, etc to remove wrinkles or set creases, and I was able to turn down the temp a bit, and only had to make a single pass over each area to get the job done, even on very wrinkled, heavy linen. It was easy to put the pad on my ironing board, it slipped right over the existing cover, and secured easily with the velcro and ties on the underside. Unlike another reviewer, I haven't noticed any of the coating coming off, or leaving any shine on my fabric. Some fabrics do need to be pressed inside out, or with a pressing cloth on top, or they will appear shiny after ironing - perhaps that's what they actually experienced, and that's not from using this pad, and can happen no matter what kind of surface you are using to iron on. Be sure to measure your board to make sure this is the right size for you. It fits a standard size (cheaper, lighter) board, like you'd find in most stores like Walmart, Target, etc. If your board is a heavier, wider leg model, the top is likely to be a bit longer or wider, and this won't fit.

It's perfect! It's exactly what I wanted. Strange that a ironing board cover makes me happy. But it does.

Description

Stubborn Wrinkles Are No Match For The Epica Ironing Board Cover

Ordinary board covers can actually get in the way and make your work harder when they scorch and absorb spilled starch, but the Epica cover has extra-thick padding and an amazing silicone coating that repels spills and withstands high heat to resist scorching.

The Silicone Coated Silver Cover Allows Clothes To Glide Effortlessly

Your Epica cover won't work against you the way most cloth covers will because the silicone coating doesn't create friction to pull your clothes out of shape. You'll love ironing on an Epica Silicone Coated Ironing Board Cover.

Reflective Heat Helps You Iron Faster

The silver silicone coated surface reflects the heat of your iron back at your clothes, so it's like ironing both sides of the garment at once. Your clothes come out looking fresh and crisp in half the time.

Super Thick Felt Padding Will Never Bunch Or Shift

On ordinary ironing board covers, the padding is thin and can separate from the top cover, making your job harder when it bunches and shifts around. The Epica Ironing Board Cover will never get in the way because the thick padding is fully attached to the cover. Taking the cover off and putting it on is a breeze because it is all one piece. Elasticized edges and two adjustable velcro straps help you achieve a custom fit that won't shift around.

You Are Covered By Our 100% Iron-Clad 2-Year Warranty

When you order your new Epica Silicone Coated Ironing Board Cover today, you can relax knowing there is no risk involved. If the Epica cover fails to perform to expectations, you'll get your money back.

Works great, I iron often, and frequently, as I sew daily. This cover has held up as advertised, no stains or burns have been left behind and my iron glides smoothly over the surface even after working on a quilting project that required almost constant ironing on high heat/full steam for at least a few hours if not more for a week straight. I am impressed.

AWESOME!!!! I'm a seamstress and have replaced many, many ironing board covers over the years. Installation of this cover was the easiest and most simple I've ever experienced. The 2 Velcro straps are perfectly placed to provide the tightest fit possible. The elastic in the sewn casing on the edges is strong and snugly holds the cover over the board. The elastic holds the cover on so well that it's possible, in my opinion, to not even use the Velcro straps. (I used the straps for sure because my covers get a lot of action!)
The cover feels generously coated with silicone and the reflective quality amps up the heat from my iron which makes smoothing out wrinkles even easier.
I don't usually get excited about things but this ironing board cover has made me very happy! I'm going to order 2 extra so I'll be certain to have quality replacements when I inevitably need them!!

I think this is a good product. It is nicely padded, and the velcro strips are sturdy. I haven't had it for long enough to rate durability, and haven't needed to clean it. Fortunately it has elastic all around, to hold it on the board. I've had my ironing board for years, and just assumed it was a "standard" size. Oops, not so. I apparently bought an extra large board all those years ago. It is 17" wide, so this product doesn't fit. That's on me, not on the seller. I think you would like the cover so long as you have the right size board.

Use the ironing board cover to iron all my clothes that tend to wrinkle during the washing machine cycles. I do not use the dryer. I hang dry my laundry. The cover was easy to put over the ironing board and I especially like the velcro united each side under the cover. It is much easier that trying to pull the string to get a tight fit, so the cover won't slide.
Using the proper iron setting the materials from wool, cotton, synthetics iron nicely and no scorching or burning from the silicone on the ironing board cover. I am very pleased with the product. Much nicer that the cloth cover with strings to tighten I used before.

If this had arrived undamaged, it would be a really nice ironing board cover. I really like how the padding is integrated with the cover so it's all one piece and therefore the padding won't wrinkle underneath the cover like those with two separate pieces. I also really like that it has elastic all the way around and the velcro straps are also a nice touch these would keep the cover on and one wouldn't have to mess with those silly and flimsy drawstrings that so many other ironing board covers have. The design and construction of this cover is WAY better than any other ironing board cover I have encountered. Unfortunately, my ironing board is just a touch too wide for the broad end of this cover and the velcro straps will not reach across (my ironing board is wider than most 18" at the widest part) it did fit lengthwise. Also unfortunate was the fact that the particular cover I received had an imperfection in the fabric, kind of like a snag or a run in the fabric, which I am sure is a fluke. If it had fit my ironing board, I would have asked for a replacement, but it was just too small. I would love to have a cover just like it minus the fabric flaw and the size discrepancy.
