Leather Journal Cover for Moleskine Cahier Notebook Pocket size 3.5" x 5.5" Field Notes Cover Vintage Refillable Notepad Handmade

Leather Journal Cover for Moleskine Cahier Notebook Pocket size 3.5

I needed a sleeve for a school project and this one is perfect! In fact, I’ll probably use it for things after my finals are over. It feels nice, smells nice, and even looks good after getting a few scratches and dings in it. The stitching is impeccable as well. It’s not super thick and not thin or cheap either. It bends nicely too and fits in my (female) back pocket when it has a notebook inside it.

Leather Cover:
The leather seems to be around 1.5mm in thickness and the side pockets are around 3.0mm since it is the same leather doubled over which means that it grasps the notebooks very well, it protects the notebooks very well, and it is a good hefty weight in the hands. The threaded binding used for the pockets is very sturdy, but watch out be careful about how you insert your notebooks in-between the leather since it might catch itself in the wrong place and you might end up bending the notebook itself. As far as notebooks go leatherette seem to slide in nicely and paper sometimes gets caught. I recommend this cover for most pocket notebooks and anyone who is looking for a simple cover without a string to close it or a rubber line to hold the notebooks in place.

Packaging:
The packaging for the product is card-stock that lends itself to being crushed and bent very easily. This lead to the leather cover becoming bent on one side. In the pictures I've provided I placed a pen on either side of the cover to show the unbent side and the obvious bend on the crushed side. I would recommend buying this product with other orders so that you might get a box instead of an envelope that is used for single orders.

I hope that they find better packaging for the product. I'm not talking about the orange envelop it's shipped in but how the product itself is packaged in the white cardstock box. It's a gamble when it comes to shipping and hopefully you get folks who handle your package with care.

Besides that I would definitely buy again but I would try to buy more than one product from them to see if they might package them in a box instead so that they can be shipped over safer.

very nice product the leather is thick and supple. you have to hold your tongue just right to get a standard field notes into the slot but they will fit, and once in there, very secure. it definitely has that quality heirloom feel to it. seller also apparently has an Etsy page where they can take custom orders. i am thinking about having them make a similar case for an odd shaped notebook i have. very pleased!

Got it as a present for my son. It look and feels great. Moleskin cashier fits just fine in it, a lil tricky to get it inside the cover but its not to bad. I really like this a lot that I might end up buying one for myself. I had his engraved with his name and it looks great. My only complain is that you can only get it engraved with 6 letters, would like up to 10 to fit my pen name on it. It comes with a card that tells you the leather has no surface treatment so to warn you that you can get blemishes, but as the card states, it adds character.

So long story short, its a nicely put together leather cover.

Ordered this cover for my Field Notes notebooks and haven't been disappointed. It's well made, looks great and will age into a distinctive leather cover. It has pockets on the inside front and back for cards, and is more than adequate in protecting the note book from dog-eared corners. Although there isn't a pen loop, there plenty of room inside to clip a Zebra pen modified to use a Fischer space pen refill. Get it for your EDC, you won't be disappointed!

The Best Way to Sew Leather Is Actually By Hand! All our goods are sewn by hand using the "saddle" stitch method. Very nice distressed leather! This is exactly what I was looking for, leather thick & great quality.

Exactly what I was looking for. I often jot down quick sketches and ideas with pencil or pen (shock in this day of Wacom, etc) and this leather cover (and size) is perfect. And the more it gets dinged up or scratched, the better it looks. It looks and feels like something that would have been found under Ernest Hemingway's passed out body in a 1930's Key West tavern. But smells much nicer.

I should probably order another one before they're all gone - tho this thing looks like it will outlive me.

*there are also a number of 3.5 x 5x5 refill options available.

This got five stars instead of four mainly due to the price, and ultimately I'm not going to knock something that does what I bought it for (holding notebooks, fitting in my back pants pocket) very well.

As other reviews have noted the leather dye leaches into the notebooks, and the sleeves are tight enough it takes some practice to insert the notebooks cleanly, but those are minor concerns at best, in general it gets the job done.

Like that I can fit two books in it but the only bad thing is that is is treated with something and it bleeds over to the pages or anything it is in contact with.

Very nice little tablet to keep in my purse. The leather has a nice feel to it and any scratches rub right out. I use a larger rubber band to keep all the pages together and a pen connected while it’s in my purse. Feels like the perfect compact size for any purse yet large enough to have a little space to write.
