We bought a house in July that was built in the late 70s and has needed some work to spruce up. It also seems that the previous owners didn't have a vacuum that actually worked, or they just never used it. That combined with the smoke from the fires in August/September (we live in Lolo, MT) made for not great air quality. I bought the Levoit Air Purifier and there was a deal at the time on extra filters, so I grabbed those too. We've been using it non-stop in the house, whether in our bedroom, our son's room, the bathroom we are remodeling... anywhere I know the air needed some freshening. The "replace filter" light came on this morning... the first ones didn't last 6 months, but I think after we go through a few, they will likely last longer each time. I'm going to get another unit exclusively for our son's room before spring... we recently had allergy testing and I'm hoping it will help him not suffer from seasonal allergens as much! Anyway, I'm attaching a picture of the one I just took out next to the new one... obviously it is working!

Air cleaners are basically boxes that suck air through a filter. It's all about the filter! This one works like a dream. After two months of use the filter replacement light went on. I was amazed at how much dust it had accumulated. Running it under the faucet cleaned the filter completely, and it was ready to go for another two months. This is pretty expensive, but well worth it if you suffer from alergies or have an extremely dusty house. I have found this to be an extremely effective filter, and would highly reccomend it.

Works very well especially for the price paid. One thing I don't like at all is the reset button is extremely hard to get to since it is right behind the small grill -it takes me several attempts at pushing it and I'm afraid I will damage something because the whole "board" that the button is attached to moves. Instructions for cleaning the "lens" are vague in the little manual that came with the unit. I realized a couple weeks ago after reading another comment that you need to pull the foam piece back in order to clean the lens.
I would like to comment that in my situation at least, the filter doesn't last anywhere close to 6 months and the filters are expensive. In fairness I do have the unit where it picks up kitchen odors.

After adopting two kittens in January 2018, my son's very mild asthma started flaring up. His asthma specialist recommended an air purifier in his room as part of his treatment/prevention plan. When I saw this one on Amazon, I had to wonder... is it really possible to get an effective machine at this price point? The many positive reviews convinced me to give it a try (and save my receipt!). After almost a year of use, I can say this purifier is well-made, effective *and* excellent value for your $$. We have to change the filters about every 3-4 months, but we live in the woods = tons of tree pollen. I know this purifier is working b/c my son's eyes get very swollen and itchy during the week before I get the "change filter" notification. Two thumbs up from us!

Works great! I live in a condo close to a freeway in Southern CA it’s pretty scary to see all the dust/etc outside and clearly more than we realize is inside as well! I have two of these units in my house and change the filters about every 3-4 months.

We had a huge fire in Santa Barbara last year and the air was literally unbreathable, so I purchased the air filter machines that go along with these filters and not only do they look lovely and are pretty quiet for the job they do, but I was also drawn to the fact that you have to change the filters and not wash them, which I know sounds wasteful, and it is, but I didn't have the best confidence in the washable filters with the amount of muck that was in the air. After the air got better after the fire I kept them because I have a cat, and it is shocking every 4 months or so when I have to change them how much crap they keep out of the air.

Really love the machines. I bought 2 . In Arizona when dust storms I had asthma. Now the air in my apt is kept clean and no breathing problems. the look of them is modern fits nicely with the decor and they are quiet even when running on high. Much nicer than the big round ones.

all allergy symptoms of nasal congestion and scratchy throat= gone. The air is so much improved. I bought one for office as well. Quiet, light wt, easy to read and adjust setting. I advised my exercise induced asthma adult child to get one for her bedrm as well as her children’s rooms. I am a physician and recommend this unit to my patients.

Purchase the air purifier in December of 2017. Works perfectly. Really cleans the air and eliminates dust which I like. Very happy with this purchase.

The filters are easy to change which is a plus.

The amount of gunk that builds up in these over a period of just a few months is astonishing. If you live in an area with a lot of pollution (natural or unnatural), dust, wildfire smoke, etc., then one filter will last 2-3 months. They're expensive, but if you have serious allergies, asthma, lung disease, or an other pulmonary issues, you do need something high-quality, so that's what you have to pay for. If you don't really have any health issues and just want cleaner air, this might be a more serious filter than you need.

Installation is extremely easy. Just pop out the old ones and pop in the new, hit the reset button (easy enough with anything thin and pointy), and go back to having cleaner air.
