Received this machine today. Here are my thoughts:
PROS
- Very easy to assemble, very easy instructions
- Well made durable parts
- Beautiful and simple product
- LOVED cleaning with it - could not put it down for 3 hours. I usually HATE cleaning
- First cleaned greasy wooden shutters in kitchen/no need to replace these anymore/finished with Costco Disinfecting Wipes
- Powered off the grimy oily gook on cabinet and drawer hardware (this is a rental unit so years of tenants greasy gook that cleaners could never get off), Used wipes to finish
- Spot cleaned greasy stains on kitchen cabinets. Used Wipes to finish
- Cleaned windows. Steam got off stubborn gook (some streaking but that happens anytime I clean). Paper towels to finish
- Mopped floors. Slate tile has never been cleaner. May need to throw out the disgusting mop pads but will try washing them.
- One tank (1600 ml) lasts a long time
- Very quiet operation
- Not available on Prime but worth the wait.
CONS
- Would like indicator of water level to gauge remaining time.
- Waiting time of 20 minutes to refill water is a bit annoying but admittedly needed a break anyway
Will update if any issues arise later. Would like to know if some vinegar can be added to improve cleaning and keep machine clean as well. Looking forward to using it in shower/bath area.

Nifty, multi-use cleaner
I bought this steam cleaner because I was looking for something to help clean carpet, but I didn't want one more appliance taking up space in the closet. I was drawn to this Neat steamer because of its compact size and myriad uses.
Pros:
- It does a great job of spot-cleaning carpet stains (see before and after attached). Much faster and easier than spray cleaners or soap and water. The heat may be problematic for some kinds of carpet, but if you're trying to fix a stain, then there's not much to lose in the first place
- I loved being able to go straight from carpet to laminate flooring with the flooring attachments, so fast and easy!
- The accessories and attachments feel very solid and durable, a heavyweight plastic that seems like it will last a long time
- The tank capacity is voluminous. I read other reviews that complained it was too small, but I spot-cleaned and steamed our dining room and kitchen floors, bathroom toilet and floor, bathroom grout lines (before/after attached) shower floor, 6 large windows (inside and outside), and my kitchen counter -- about 2 hours of cleaning -- and still had water left over.
- The steam has amazing cleaning power. It dissolves sticky messes so easily and doesn't leave a residue. It removed dirt and dust I didn't even know were on my kitchen counter.
Cons:
- The unit handle and hose get very hot with prolonged use. Not hot enough to be painful, but enough to be disconcerting. Just something to be aware of.
- The unit tends to drip a bit here and there, either from steam condensation or the ends of attachments. You definitely want to keep a microfiber towel on hand. The one included is wonderful, but to do more than one or two things at a time, I had to use more.
Other notes on use:
As the manufacturer notes, the steam is very hot. There is not really a trigger lock (just a button that keeps the trigger open), so you may need to exercise extra caution and vigilance when using it, especially if you have little, curious kids at home (like I do!)
Overall the machine is very quiet, except if you use it with the trigger attachment in an enclosed space like a small shower. I would definitely recommend using ear protection in that situation.
I would give this a B+ or A- for carpet cleaning. To be fair, the manufacturer does not advertise this as a carpet cleaner. It gets spots out very well, but mostly "refreshes" the main carpet if you use the floor attachment. The carpet is definitely cleaner and looks better, but doesn't feel as clean as if you used a shampooing/wet machine. However, I feel like it is adequate for my needs, and is much easier to use than a shampooing machine.
The price point for this machine is highly competitive. It is more affordable than similar machines, and feels like a good deal, given its apparent high quality and cleaning power. That being said, I feel like there is a missed opportunity for built-in storage for the hose and accessories. However, you can easily fix that with a simple storage bin. Overall, it's a great product, and I'm happy to pay a lower cost on a minimalistic machine and add towels or storage options as I need them.
This steam cleaner is neat!
The box has instructions printed on it which are really helpful. But this steam cleaner is intuitive to use. Simply plug it in, push the button, wait for the light to turn green and start cleaning. The thing that I was most curious about are the accessories. I thought they'd be cheaper than what you get with their higher end Tosca which we bought about 2 years ago. I was wrong. They're slightly smaller but they are just as sturdy. Even the clothes and bonnets that come with it are as good of quality as the Tosca. That's impressive. I've seen cheaper handheld or other steam cleaners and they usually have far inferior accessories that just don't hold up to intense cleaning. The fabric will fall apart after a few uses.
This is one of those rare products that's worth a lot more than the retail price. When you compare to the others in the market that have cheaper accessories, cheaper fabric on their covers and less durable plastic it is FAR SUPERIOR. I don't know if I could recommend a product more than this one. I love it! I feel like with the Neat I can go to full steam and hopefully ditch Clorox Wipes and sprays forever or cut way back.
I found myself sometimes avoiding getting the Dupray Tosca out because it's quite heavy and takes a while to heat up. So I only used it for heavy duty cleaning or when I have a bigger project. It's not something I wanted to bring out for smaller jobs, like to touch up my car. The Neat is great for that. It doesn't heat up as high so I will save the deeper cleaning like the sink (lots of built up grease you can't see) and the oven for the Tosca. But this is a great companion unit for jobs without grease and touch up work.
The handle retracts and so it's not sticking up and it's easy to grasp. Super simple design to turn it off and on - you just push in the button and wait for it to turn green to start cleaning. I also LOVE that you can push a button for continual release and so you don't have to grip the handle the whole time you clean and can use both hands. I wish so bad the Tosca had that.
Dupray is the Apple of steam cleaners. Love that they've made a machine that is simple and elegant - not just a copy cat that looks like the others. We were willing to pay more for the design and lifetime warranty with the Tosca but not everyone can or wants to. We want both but honestly you can spend far less and get a great machine with the Neat. It doesn't heat as hot and the tank is smaller, but I would recommend to anyone who wants to use steam instead of chemicals to clean and for a superior cleaning tool with no residue.
If I could change anything it would be a way to see how much water is inside when filling the reservoir. I like that they made it indented so again, nothing is sticking out of the machine and it's fast to refill.
Other nice touches include that it has wheels and the cord wraps underneath for easy storage. So it stays super compact.
It's lightweight at 9 lbs and it's a lot easier to carry than the Tosca - even with water in it. No one is allowed to borrow our Tosca but I could easily transport the Neat and demo it (my neighbors are all curious about it). I might even let someone like my mom borrow it. The Tosca is like a member of our family and the Neat is like the Tosca's little brother or sister.
Got mine early last week. I work cleaning a commercial kitchen in a small restaurant and wanted to try to find something that would help reduce chemicals used to clean a reasonably neglected commercial stove I had recently been tasked with cleaning. Thought I would try steam but didn’t want to jump right in to the higher priced models until I had gained some familiarity and had some sense that steam was really going to help. Well, I was actually shocked. I can’t say it was any faster then using very expensive commercial carbon cleaners but I will say the speed and ease of use of this was about neck and neck with chemicals. Yes it takes a bit of effort but in the end there isn’t nearly the mess to clean up because most of the water has evaporated away. I brought the steamer home to try it out on the grout lines in my shower. Knocked that out so fast and still had hot water so just kept going. After a couple of hours I had steam cleaned every single inch of my bathroom and I do not think it has ever been cleaner since being in this house.
I still intend on buying a more advanced model likely toward the end of summer. And at that point wil bring the neat home where it will stay and use the more advanced model in the commercial kitchen. Likely the Tosca but unsure just yet.
Only suggestion I have is if you prefer this, go to Dupray’s website and order 10 of the Little nylon brushes. They are great but keep in mind they are nylon and sitting next to a 275 degree heat source that makes them soft and they don’t hold there shape well. I can usually get 1-2 projects done, per brush till I clean them and throw them in a ziplock thinking I may find another use for them another time.
Anyway. I do recommend the product.
When I received the unit I used it right away! I love that the water reservoir give you plenty of time before having to refill. The attachments that come with the unit are very sturdy...the only problem is the floor attachment. This is a flaw in the design. One of the perks is that you clip to the floor attachment your own microfiber rags. This is great because I change them frequently as I clean. The floor attachment get very hot, and because hinge is a button like plastic and doesn't run to the other side of the clip...it popped off. There should be a small metal rod that holds the clip. I attached a picture because I feel my description is dismal lol. I called customer service and they said someone would get back to me....I received a call almost a week later..smh Luckily Tamara from Dupray had sent a follow up email regarding the purchase..she immediately sent out a new floor attachment and some extra microfiber pads. The pads are great!! They clean the floors wonderfully and absorb well the water. Overall this steamer is wonderful!! The quality out weighs the cost! If the company fixes the design flaw on the floor attachment I would give it 5 stars. Even with floor attachment issue, I still highly recommend the Dupray Neat steam cleaner.

I had this on my wish list for months before the price dropped from 200 back to the introductory price of 150. Because a slightly higher-end version from Dupray (the Home) was 250 from the big box store that begins with a C, I spent a lot of time trying to compare the two. My mom got the higher end one, and I purchased this one when the price was right.
Having used both, I can tell you what I’ve noticed.
The good:
-This unit makes the same high-quality steam that the Home does. There’s so much of it that I can’t even see my bathroom floor when I’m doing the grout cleaning.
-This unit seems to do just as good of a job cleaning with its super hot steam - it’s way better than my handheld Bissell steam cleaner. The dirt came up out of my grout in no time and with very little effort.
-It rolls on wheels (like the Home) and comes with lots of accessory items - even more than its big brother.
The mediocre:
-The mop head has NO swivel. It’s permanently fixed at the angle it’s assembled in. This might sound like a minor flaw, until you’re trying to get it to clean between your toilet and the wall or vanity, and there’s no possible way to make the mop head contact the floor. You end up needing to use the grout brush or the upholstery cleaner on the floor around and behind the toilet. The same problem happens when you’re cleaning the floor under butcher blocks or chairs - tilting the handle to get the mop head underneath means you can’t actually keep the mop head on the floor. In my opinion, this is a pretty big fail.
-The trigger button takes some effort to push down - significantly more so than the Home’s trigger. Thankfully there’s a lock function - I wouldn’t want to use this without it. The lock button is super sensitive - it has a tendency to pop off when I didn’t even realize I touched it. This is irritating, but not a deal-breaker unless it becomes incessant.
-Both handles - the white handle that allows you to carry the base AND the steam mop handle get pretty darn hot while you’re working. It’s not hot enough to get burned, but it’s hot enough to be uncomfortable.
-The plastic scrubbers melt with the heat of the steam. This happens in the Home, as well. After one use with not very much force, the plastic bristles are deformed and flattened. This doesn’t happen with my Bissell hand cleaner, but I think it’s what’s to be expected when the temperature is so high. You can order new heads from Dupray’s website, but shipping is something like 14 bucks. Would be great if Amazon would start offering those, as well!
This machine has similar cleaning power to machines that cost several hundred more dollars. I use it for my car detailing business and it works great. Awesome for getting in cracks and crevices and blowing out debris in between the seats. I also used it to clean windows for a streakless shine. 10/10 would buy again.
Dear Dupray Team and Future Prospects,
Absolutely Love It. Truly, this is what I was looking for, light wait, and yet produces steam for log enough time to clean the whole house (mine 2400 sq.ft). Makes cleaning much easier as no need to bend, and faster. To clean the grout I first used a glycolic grout cleaner and then washed the floor with the steamer, looks like I wouldn't need to use a chemical cleaner for a long time. Baseboards, I also first sprayed with the Windex and then steamer (you know all this dusty corners, where you can't reach), for the second cleaning I haven't use any chemicals. Haven't use the window cleaning tool, assuming will be happy with it as well. The only downside, is Dupray doesn' ship this model to Canada, had to ask relative to bring it yo me.
A question to Dupray: where can I buy the grout and baseboard little brushes and fresheners tablets?
Thank you
I researched a lot of models before deciding on this one. I have to say that this thing has been amazing so far. The first night I had it, I filled it with distilled water and tried it out on a number of areas of the house that needed some attention. I first cleaned all of the grout in the shower, which wasn't bad at all in the first place but this thing made everything just pop. I then cleaned up the nasty vents in the bathroom where dust gets caked on with hairspray. This thing blasted through it like it was nothing and a few wipes with a cloth later I was done. Outside of the bathroom there was a chocolate milk stain that I had not been able to get out with chemicals so I put on a brush head and steamed through it like magic. After a rub with a towel, it was literally seconds and the light carpet was again clean and matching the rest. Amazing for not even being an extractor. Next, I cleaned the inside edges of the dishwasher door and the inside of the refrigerator, which was a challenge seeing with all of the steam. I will say that it is a very satisfying experience seeing this thing clean, kind of like media blasting rusty metal for restoration.
This thing will leave you so happy that you will be looking for things that need a refresh. It is just that good. I would really recommend using distilled water so you can prolong the life. After all of that cleaning I still only used two quarts of water, so 40 cents of cleaning materials. Yes, it will take a long time to see a return on investment avoiding chemical purchases but the time savings alone is worth it. I know I am going to be able to use this for a LOT of things around the house and detailing the car interiors. I cannot comment on the durability since I have only had it a day but I get the sense that it will be a good unit.
I love this steamer. I have been looking for a while to find a compact steamer that wouldn’t cost a lot of money. After a ton of research I came across the Neat. It is amazing! I wanted to try it out on my tile floor, and the floors came out so clean. Then I ended up cleaning my whole house, because once you start to clean with this steamer, you don’t want to quit.
A friend asked about this machine and I brought it over to his house so he could experience how wonderful this steamer is. He even used it to clean his fridge inside and out. And he wants one of his own! My mother now wants to borrow it too!!!
I only wish I had bought this sooner.
