NICETOWN Blackout Curtains for Girls Room - Thermal Insulated Solid Grommet Room Darkening Curtains/Panels/Drapes for Bedroom (Lavender Pink=Baby Pink, One Pair, 52 by 45-Inch)

I bought these in the olive color (for my son’s woodland themed nursery) and chocolate color (for our living room) and am very, very, very pleased.

Allow me to address some of the negatives people have mentioned:
1) all of the curtains I ordered were the correct, even length (I purchased all of them at 52x95 and they were all exact);
2) yes, washing alone won’t release the wrinkles. I YouTubed “getting wrinkles out of polyester,” followed the process and they’re fine now;
3) if you want a total blackout, then you’ll need a combination of products or different curtains, but, having said that, I get migraines and have light sensitivity and these are great. I get full sun in these rooms and now they are dark. Pitch black? No. But solidly dark.
4) I do think there might be slight thermal reduction in full sun;
5) no noise reduction, alas.

Here’s the thing: for what you’re paying, they’re amazing. All the complaints I’m seeing make me laugh. Do people know what true blackout curtains cost? They start at ~$100 per panel! As in, each.

You just got two for $37. What more do you want?

They’re soft. They work. They’re even. The colors are lovely. Mine are floor to ceiling and they look clean and sleek.

Maybe I got lucky. Maybe not. Either way, decidedly chuffed.

We recently moved into a new home, which is about a mile or two from a major interstate. We didn't really realize how noisy it was until night time when all the trucks are going down it. There is just an open field between us and the highway. I was skeptical when I purchased these curtains that they would actually block very much sound. I know layering up bath towels can block almost all the sound, but its also really ugly.

These curtains reduced the interstate noise to just a low hum. I was actually able to get some sleep last night.

They also do a decent job of blocking out the light in combination with my existing blinds. They do look pretty decent, the color was accurate to the picture.

As they said, the lighter colored curtains do not block as much light as the darker ones. So if you want a pitch black room I wouldn't buy the grey-white color. But they're perfect for my needs, and I love the way the color stands off of a white wall. I originally wanted all white curtains, but I'm glad I went with these. The back of the curtains don't have a lining, so they are the same color as the front, which I like. In my pictures you can see direct sunlight hitting my curtains. In the second picture I tucked the curtain into the window sill to keep the light from bleeding through. I have these curtains in the living room to keep the sun from glaring on my tv during the day and they work perfectly for this. ( On the fourth picture, you can still see on the screen where the direct sunlight was shining, but it really isn't all that noticeable when watching tv ) So if your window gets direct sunlight most of the day, I would buy a darker color. I needed 4 panels to fit my 95" in width window.

My parents do not like to run the A/C in the summer whatsoever. The days they DO run it, it is not as efficient at keeping the house cool. The sun faces their room and the living room during the hottest part of the day. Because of this, their room makes the rest of the house hotter. I decided to buy this for them because last year I suggested they use a dark blanket to block the sun out. They did the entire summer, but this year they haven't been.

Their room also faces a toll road, so I can also comment on this, as we do not have sound-proof windows.

Right off the bat, my dad loves these curtains. he is the most apt to use these in order to nap during the day as he sometimes has nighttime work shifts and sleeps in the day. During the brightest time in the day, the sun is probably blocked 95% with these curtains, while 4% makes it out the sides, and up and down, and the last 1% coming out through the fabric.

My parents do not have blinds to help whatsoever. Because I bought them the chocolate color to match their room, instead of the black, I think their is more room for light to come through. Black absorbs color the best, so if you are really sensitive to light and don't care about looks, do the black. If you aren't picky, the brown is functional if you are trying to match a room.

For the heat, I would say just cutting out the light has made the upper part of our house much cooler. I don't think you could cut away light without cutting away heat as well. Since it is not made of double layers or special material, I don't think the fabric itself dispels heat in the way some might hope.

Does it cut away heat? Yes. Will it act as insulation? NO.

As for sound, I mentioned that we live up against a toll road. This claims to deflect a lot of noise, but I think it is much like the heat situation, where simply because you have this against your window, it muffles the sound a little. I went into my parents room and, with the window open, could still hear the cars speeding by. Had I shut the window, I'm sure that the noise would have disappeared.

Since we have lived in our house for over twenty years, the noise from the cars is almost like white noise for my parents. They are so used to it that the blinds don't really matter. I didn't buy this to block out sound, but it does help a little.

I bought this to block out light and *help* with the heat. I did not purchase this for sound-proofing, but I got a little bit of that. Would I say this product has lived up to what it was supposed to do? Yes. My parents don't have to worry that their room will be a sauna when they don't run the A/C and if they do it will work more effectively because the curtains are there.

Reviewing the Grey, 2 Panels 52" W by 45" H curtains

First off, I am going to say this is one of the few curtains this size I needed for my windows. Most range too long, and would end up causing frustration trying to push behind furniture I place my plants on for light. Although there are other curtains out there about 42 inches, these 3 extra inches made a difference in helping blocking out more light.

Pros:
- They are still darker but lack the depressing aspect blue and dark-blue can give a room (and modern blue is among my preferred colors).
- Size: One of the few curtains that have a 45" height while still being effective at blocking out sunlight, all for a good price.
- Blocks out almost all sunlight, but not a complete blackout like with drapes (they are curtains, after all). The darkening effect is extremely significant compared to standard, thin curtains and allows me to sleep peacefully as the sun sets. Can even get an idea where the sun is in the western sky just by looking at the curtains (albeit, the sun shows up as a severely darkened, light-reddish-brown blob through the grey) and estimating where the sun should be.
- Price: This was among my strongest considerations along with size and effectiveness on light- and heat-blocking (especially for the west room I bought them for). Could probably help against the cold this way, too.
- Strong grommet rings. Could be a con if you do not want to buy thicker, sturdier curtain rods. I found for a while I got away with the thin rods just fine using a single panel per window. One panel a window is still great, even with thicker rods if you don't mind a significantly wider "wave" look when closed.
-They feel sturdy, and like they should last for a good while.

Cons:
- The material is kind of like a gentle microfiber, so if you have rough hands or if they end up rough you might not like the feel as well. My fingers caught onto the material slightly when this happened, giving a clingy/rough fabric feel.
- The curtains will rarely be 100% square on edges and corners because of the slight elasticity of the fabric. This doesn't bug me, but other reviewers seemed upset about it.
- You might notice a slight "pinhole" or two in areas if you have intense/direct light, but I only just happen to find these at the right angle. Again, these are dang nice curtains and not drapes.
- Even though I left mine hang for a while, they still have not relaxed on their wrinkle folds. I guess slight, cooler ironing should do the trick though. If it bugs me enough sometime, I will update how they turn out.

I unfortunately don't know how well the noise cancellation works as I often phase out familiar noises in the background. I tend to leave them slightly open when I also open my windows at night for air anyways, and may not just realize how well they are doing as I've gotten used to them. But given construction and fabric density, you should benefit from at least some noise cancellation.

In all, these cons don't bother me enough to deduct even a single star. They are great for their price, and do their job well. Would definitely buy again. I should probably save this product for when I need another pair.

Have you decided which color to pick?

I read through a lot of reviews for a lot of curtains before buying these. The material is very thick and the navy blue really blocks out most of the light. I definitely noticed a difference in the temperature of the room - for now, blocking out the cold air from older windows. Noise cancellation - I was pleasantly surprised. They seem to absorb sound from inside the room as well as blocking some outside noise. They are not soundproof but performed better than I expected.
My one issue - like many others noted, the panels are not exactly the same. My experience was better than most of the bad reviews. I ordered six sets - twelve panels. Three sets were navy and three were cappuccino. The navy were all the same color and length. The cappuccino - five of the six were the same color, same length. The sixth was about 1/8th of an inch longer and slightly pink. It wasn't enough of a difference to make me want to send them back. I put that one in the corner with the least light and you can't really notice it.
I also didn't have any issues with the stitching that others mentioned. There were no pulls or odd stitching. The navy curtains did have a little dust on a couple of the folds but it easily brushed off.
Overall, for the price, I really like these curtains.

Just got them last night, and I couldn't sleep until I installed them. My review- damn, these black out the light, they are best at night. Like a fancy hotel room. I had gone 20 years with just those twisty shade things, what a difference, I mean wow. I'm ordering more this morning. For the morning, they are effective at darkening (not blacking out), they don't block 100% of the light because the material can't make a tight seal, but stlll a huge improvement; I do not regret this purchase.

I will probably have to upgrade at one point because I would need a white color on the window facing side- I live in a complex that doesn't allow anything else, which I agree with, it would make the neighborhood look junky. One warning, if you get add ons, you will probably need something to hold the curtains back when they are open, and spend a little more than the cheapest thing you can find- I like to save money too, but for the rods, etc that you would buy for this, quality will matter.

I setup these curtains at the brightest part of the day facing a north window. Unfortunately I overlooked the length of curtain (ordered 63 inch instead of 84 inch) and will use these on another project and have ordered 84 inch. I expect all light will be blocked out except what peeks from above once I replace with correct length and that's not so bad. Curtains are lightweight, smooth, a sheen to them but looking out close and carefully pinhole light will come through the material but not enough to affect the darkness of room. Very pleased I made this purchase, super buy.
...Note... Curtain rod was hung 5 inches above top of window. I cannot comment about noise reduction as window faces the quietest part of house.

I got these curtains in Greyish-White and the color is beautiful. The material used is very soft and as you can see in the pictures it gets the job done. I still have light coming in from my patio door which has no curtain on it so it looks lighter than it should. The description says 85-99% light blocking and that was very accurate. The amount of light that it blocks depends on the color you get, obviously the darker colors will block out more light closer to the 99% side but since I have a studio I want to stick to more light colors to keep it from looking smaller than it is. I will be getting a film for the patio glass door to completely darken the apartment. 10/10 would recommend.

The curtains are heavy, hang well on the rod and appear to be made of great quality fabric and quality workmanship. You will need a metal rod for use with these panels as they are quite heavy. Love that they will help keep the room from being so cold in the wintertime. The only issue with these is that I ordered silver white and the color is actually a light gray--I was expecting more of a white color. But, the color works fine and I chose not to opt for an exchange. If you want white, please order plain white color. Fantastic value!
