Thermos Stainless King 16 Ounce Food Jar with Folding Spoon, Army Green

I am self-employed and I work out of a van doing service work, so to have a nice hot meal ready sometime in the afternoon is really nice . I put hot soup into this thermos at 8:45 AM today, and I ate it at 4:50 PM and it was still so hot I had to blow on it to eat it. Not only does it work extremely well it is beautifully designed the height and width proportions are perfect and it has a brushed stainless steel exterior , it is perfectly balanced it just looks nice and feels nice ,absolutely a perfect product . There is just enough room to fold a small paper towel inside the cup between the thermos and the stopper so you can clean up after your meal. This is one of the most efficient , beautiful products I have ever reviewed .

Let's start with the obvious it is 16 oz in size. It is a really nice deep red, they say cranberry, it only means that the base is from the blue side of the spectrum not orange. Which is the red tints I really like. The spoon is in the inner lid. It does have a tendency to fall out if you don't make sure it "clicks" into place. It doesn't make an actual click but feels more secure. The outer lid can be used as the cup for yourself or share with someone else and you eat out of the thermos itself. The mouth of the thermos is nice and wide, 2 3/4", so no spills putting your liquid in and easy to get it out once you have filled the thermos.
It is of stainless steel construction, so there is some weight to the little guy. So if you happen to drop it, well it may dent (depending on what it fell onto) or it may just roll on down the floor. Done both, the paint isn't flaking off hasn't hurt the integrity of the thermos at all.
Does it really keep things hot/cold? For me it does. I bought this because of the winter and wanted my own soup to bring with me. I would heat my soup up (like it very hot) put it into the thermos and by the time lunch came around, still had to be careful not to burn my mouth. Oh a neat trick is to fill the thermos with hot tap water before filling with your soup/liquid keeps it hotter even longer. The time span would vary (when I ate my meal) usually within 5 hours but if I didn't get around to eating my soup then it would still be hot 8 hours later.
The folding spoon is such a nice idea, I didn't have to carry another spoon with me, and lose it or get a plastic spoon. It is a sturdy spoon it folds down to 2 3/4 inches and unfolds to 6 inches. There are little metal stoppers on the handle so it can only unfold it one way and then refold the opposite way.
I haven't had it leak either, seals up pleasingly. It is made in China. But the Thermos name still has its reputation intact.
I did wait to write this review I wanted to put the thermos through usage to make sure that my initial impression held true, and it has. This is a sound investment that will last for a good length of time.

Just tried out my new Thermos for lunch today. I hate using a microwave, so I was looking for a healthier option to have hot lunch at work. This was absolutely perfect! I heated up my soup this morning at 8am. I ate my lunch at 12:30pm and it was still piping hot! I was so happy because it is cold outside and this warmed me up so nicely!

I will say the the mouth is wide enough to eat from (with the included spoon which is nice) but I had a hard time getting my hearty soup into the container (filled with chunky veggies and beans) without spilling. But the perfect solution for me was a Canning Funnel - it fit perfectly into the opening and I was able to fill the container without issue.

I have already recommended this Thermos to my family and friends - great investment!

It was down to the Stanley and this Thermos. After seeing exploding lids for the other product, it was a deal breaker since I intended this for piping hot soups. I throw this into my work tote and couldn't imagine cleaning out chicken noodle from my car keys, wallet, etc. Plus, if I was going to send it with my kid, there was no way I was going to risk the lid popping on him, possibly freaking out everyone in class and having him be busted with an exploding device!

So that was the tipping point to the Thermos but honestly, in the end, I'm so glad b/c the color of this jar is SO beautiful. But more to the point, it has kept my soup HOT 4-5 hours later and not one drop of it is leaked into my bag.

Coming from using cheap plastic Aladdin 10 oz. containers from Target that never kept food warm, leaked and had small parts that got lost, this Thermos is the bomb! It's like comparing a firecracker (or a little snap pop thing that kids throw on the ground) to an atom bomb. I ordered one for each child that takes a lunch to school and they work! All I ask for in a thermos is that it keeps food warm for 3-4 hours, they are big enough to fit a decent kid's size meal into and that they don't leak. This one delivers.

I made my daughter a very healthy lunch of ramen noodle soup and she said that it was almost too hot to eat 4 hours later. Both kids were highly impressed with the retained heat and the incorporated spoon which I thought looked more like an indented spatula, but my kids said it worked well. It's great if you run out of plastic spoons.

I've only had these in my house for 3 weeks, so I can't speak to how long they'll last, but so far, they're the miracle I've been waiting for.

NOTES:
1. When washing, take ALL the parts apart (even the rubber washer) and HAND WASH.
2. Before each use, fill with boiling water and let heat up for 5-10 minutes while you're making whatever it is you want to fill it with. I haven't tried without this step, but it's recommended. This step is annoying, but it helps especially for non-liquid items like those delicious mini chicken tacos from Costco.

PROS:
- no leaking
- keeps food warm for at least 4 hours
- good size for elementary and middle school kids
- Navy is a versatile color for either gender (or the 386,492 current gender identities for that matter)
- lid can be used as a bowl
- cool to touch on outside
- great price for the quality (it was $15.98 when I bought it)

CONS:
- a bit hard to open for small children
- spoon is a little flat
- does not clean itself after each use (ahem, college students)
- does not come with a personal chef

I was looking for something that would keep my dinner (stew) hot from the time I heated it up in the morning until about 5:30pm. I used the Stanley one like this one and my dinner was stone cold by 2:00. So I poured boiling water in it first and totally wrapped it up. Nothing worked. So I thought I'd give Thermos a try. Holy mackerel... at 5:30 I finally had to take the lid off and let it cool so I wouldn't burn my mouth. I won't put boiling water in the Thermos one first anymore! The fold up spoon that snaps onto the lid is a bonus. I've got a Stanley Thermos for sale, if anyone's interested.

Love it for making oatmeal! Before bed at night, I just preheat with boiling water, dump that out, then add steel cut oats, boiling water, and any sweetener or flavorings I want. Then stir. In the morning, lo! Behold! Glorious, fully cooked steel cut oatmeal!

I've noticed that the cooked oats are still warm after about 7 hours but room temperature after about 8 hours. Pretty good for a little Thermos. I don't mind room temperature, anyway. I just like that I can have the oatmeal cooked by morning without spending an hour at the stove.

And that's it. That's the only thing I use this little jar for. It does this job admirably.

I got this for taking hot foods to work... I get up at 4 o'clock in the morning to prepare my hot foods I'm taking to work in this thermos and by the time I'm ready to eat my food at noon it's hot and I'm very happy that I purchase this item.

What's more to say... it does as advertised and the folding utensils that comes with this thermos are a plus. Five Stars All the way and a strong recommendation to buy this item.

Absolutely LOVE this thermos! I cannot bring myself to use the shared (gross) microwave at work and this is the perfect solution! Be sure to follow instructions and warm it with hot water first. I warm it as instructed, add my hot soup at 530a, and when I open it at lunchtime (anywhere between 12p-130p usually) it is still hot (not just warm). I bragged about this so much that a few coworkers have purchased and also love it! Zero complaints!!

This Thermos is awesome. It is the perfect size and keeps my food hot for hours. By the time I get to it at work, the food is still too hot to eat immediately. As a tip, use a canning funnel to prevent messes, it's almost like it was meant for a Thermos! I only wish the spoon would stay in the cap, it will fall out sometimes when opening the lid.
