I have extremely sensitive skin and developed many contact allergies. I was reacting to any detergent that was scented as well as many other household products and had hives and rashes everywhere for a while before finding out the cause. When first diagnosed with these issues, I immediately got the holistic, super organic detergents, which improved my skin greatly but did not do so much for my clothes. I had always had great luck with regular tide pods for cleaning clothes but couldn’t use them with my skin, so when I saw they had a free and gentle version, I was curious to try it out. I will admit I was skeptical; I wasn’t sure that the detergent would be strong enough to clean, and also wasn’t sure that it was gentle enough for my extremely sensitive and allergic skin. But being that I felt like all of my clothes were essentially unwashed, I gave it a go. At first, I would do a normal wash cycle and then an extra rinse cycle just to be sure that the detergent was washed off really well and didn’t cause a reaction in my skin. It cleaned extremely well and no reactions at all! Eventually, as my outbreaks started to clear up, I tried doing just a regular wash cycle and again, have been totally fine! Recently I borrowed a friends sweater that was washed in scented detergent and developed a rash so I can attest to the fact that a) my allergies are still very much there and b) that this stuff is very much free and clear. For a clean freak like me, it’s amazing to get a good wash and still be easy on my skin!
As far as pricing, Amazon has been great with this item. It can be pricey in stores and hard to find in larger quantities, so you are paying more per count. I do subscribe and save and am very happy with that. Additionally, Amazon sometimes has coupons for it as well.

UPDATE: I was concerned because when i went to return it, I was told I couldn't. That was upsetting so I email customer service. They responded within 12 hrs and had the replacement at my front door within 24 hours. Not bad at all. And I checked, every pod is intact this time.

Good price, good product. These pods leave very little sent, work well, and do not irritate my skin or nose. I do suggest calculating for 3 with a large load in a non HE washer.
Hands down, a good product for those sensitive to smells or more traditional detergent formulations. There are even more gentle products out there, but not at this price, and most not as effective at cleaning.
Halfway through first carton and quality seems consistent.
I really love the concept, here. Clean and easy, these little gems make laundry a lot more approachable. If you're still doing your laundry in a Coleman cooler, however, this might not be your best alternative. But if you've been introduced to the mechanized world, and have a REAL washing machine tucked away in some corner of your domicyle, or even visit the local 24hr laundromat (Pssst, hey, buddy, wanna buy some combustibles?), you're gonna love the simplicity of pre-measured 'pods'. I like 'em, too, but still avoid the crowds and employ the Coleman on occasion.
I have been using these for months now. Decided to wait to review based on other reviews to make sure i could review properly. Not sure how every one else is washing their clothes but i have never had an issue with these pods. I place them in my top load lg first and then put clothes on top. I have put 2 king sized blankets in or huge clothes loads. They have never dissolved funny on my clothes. Even if they did, simple just rewash them. My clothes are clean and this seems to be better with our kids skin.

I recently switched to tide pods now that I’m in college, and carrying a couple pods down to the basement is easier than lugging a whole thing of detergent down. So, this is very convenient for college students or apartment dwellers. I’ve never had any issues with the pod sticking to my clothes. I always put them in the drum before my clothes, and I usually wash with cool water. I love that they’re unscented and not dyed, it’s much more gentle on my skin. (PS to ladies– it’s much better for your vaginal health too since perfumes from regular detergent on your underwear can mess up your pH balance and cause irritation and infections. Just an fyi!) Even though it’s unscented, I can tell my clothes are getting cleaned just as good. Plus, I only use one or two per load so the large drum of them is very cost effective. Cheaper than my local stores as well. Overall, I love these tide pods since they’re so gentle, really get the job done, and are convenient for my college life (and budget).
These things are delicious! I’m kidding. Hopefully. But really, these are great for my laundry. I hate heavily scented laundry soap and these actually clean my sweaty workout clothes and dirty dog beds without just covering up the smell. I like the convenience of the pods over the liquid variety. I don’t know why. But I’ll definitely be buying these until they come out with something more convenient and/or delicious.
So glad to have the Free & Gentle--we get these on Amazon Pantry subscription. They work well--clothes are clean, pods always fully dissolve. Easy to recommend. Our basement is humid, so I keep the top latched. A few have been stuck together (it's rare)--I pull them apart and try to use each one ASAP, as they do leak if pulling them apart caused a small hole.
My dog is very allergic to purfumes and scented oils. He is especially sensitive to D-Limonene, which is basically citrus oil. After trying “all natural” detergents, we realized he was only getting worse and scratching more. I switched to these pods which are full of chemicals, but none of the “natural” purfumes or oils. All his scratching and hives are gone and I’m so thankful for this product. I will continue to buy these for life!
I love these! And getting the large pack for about $16 is a great price. I use them to wash everything except for my husband's work uniforms! I have twins so we do have a lot of laundry but these are great and one box lasts at least a month for us (four person family) and it saves time and money to not have to buy two different types of detergent for our normal clothes! When the boys were born and for several months afterward, I used arm and hammer brand sensitive skin for all of our clothes and that worked great too. I didn't see the point in buying special baby detergent unless the doctor told me to and he never did (our doctor also had twins....)
