Can people not READ? This is exactly as described. It SAYS cardboard backing and it SAYS MDF, not glass. And for those of you that think $30 for an odd-sized frame is EXPENSIVE - try having it professionally framed - it would be hundreds in a store. I received today and framed my 17 by 24 photo. The frame is excellent quality and the MDF is thick and looks like glass. I own many framed posters and this is nothing like those frames. The cardboard backing is very thick and sturdy. The frame itself is wood. For $30 you can't beat the price. My only issue is that my photo did not fit. It was about a half an inch too wide and it measures exactly 17 by 24 so the frame size is incorrect. Other than that it looks great. And all the OTHER complaints about hardware not attached are hilarious - people are first-time art hangers and don't understand why - some people need it vertical and some horizontal. Amazing how people expect a $200 frame for $30 and then WHINE about it. Wow
I needed a frame to display my new "Temple of the Dog" show poster (12X36) but didn't want to spend crazy money on it. After reading both positive and negative reviews for this frame I decided to roll the dice and grab one based solely on cost.... I'm so glad I did; the frame I received is fantastic for what I spent! Once you take the protective film off the plexi glass (both sides as displayed on the product) it's super clear. My package also included mounting hardware including a wall hook. The only thing that I can see to complain about is the frame backing which is cardboard but who cares??? The cardboard had no issues holding my concert poster in place and I'm the only one that will ever see the back. I'll be ordering more to complete our "Wall of Concert Flyers"
I don’t usually write amazon reviews as I typically agree with what’s been previously posted. Before I bought this I saw a lot of mixed reviews and was hesitant to purchase because of some of the negativity being brought on by others. Yes the clear solid that comes with it that allows you to view your framed object is Plexiglas. This is sort of funny because the box it ships in is glass. Yes it just has a cardboard back with those little metal bendy things to hold it in pace. And yes the frame itself is made out of some compressed particle board material. For my purposes though it worked great. I got what is pretty much a custom sized frame shipped to me in a few days through prime. There was a myriad of size choices and color choices. The packaging was great and the frame came out unscathed. It even came with a hanging kit although I did have to use a drill to attach the hooks to the frame itself. The Plexiglas is a little extra reflective but as other users have pointed out making your own custom cut glass isn't that hard if you really need it. For me though this worked. The object I am displaying is more than nice looking in this frame and that’s all I needed for it (the ability to put it on the wall and call attention to it). The cardboard functions well and I didn't pay an arm and a leg for a custom frame job at a crafts store with a 'museum quality' frame, not to mention the quick shipping time. Last I checked they were $100+ with a coupon. So if you’re hanging some great family heirloom or something you might want to go to the crafts store but if you’re hanging that finger painting you’re 5 year old did in art class these are perfect.
Great quality frame for the price! Very hard to find this specific size I was putting some news paper articles in it and it came out awesome! The plexi glass is slightly cheap but I mean I'm a bachelor and it looks awesome to me!
The frame is great and there are many reviews that agree. I wanted to write a review about the packing. I have received frames from other vendors and they arrived with broken glass because of the way they were packed. The packing from Art to Frames was the most professional boxing of a frame I have ever seen. The frame was in a cardboard cradle within the box so any rough handling would not even touch the glass.
So if you are concerned about damage, have no fear. You will get a well made, nice looking frame in better condition than if you picked it up in person.

I definitely was a little nervous ordering these but I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised. The shipping was quick and they arrived very securely packaged. But most important The quality of these frames really is great for the price. Yes they do have cardboard backing but that isn’t a downfall, nor is the plexiglass! I cannot say for sure if smaller sizes come with real glass, but if you are ordering a larger size (I ordered 24x28) in this product just know the plexiglass does not take away from the look and feel of these. So so happy I took a chance. I would definitely order more frames from this company.
I bought a 14"x17" frame from this seller to display my odd-sized diploma as I didn't want to fork out a fortune just for a diploma frame (the cheapest I could find on Amazon was about $80++ and other places sell it for $100++).
Honestly, I was really skeptical at first on whether I should get the frame as most of the reviewers complained about the saw tooth hanger and cardboard back. But I bought it anyway thinking I could always return a $21 frame if it didn't work out.
Upon receiving the frame, I was really surprised at how well-built the frame is! My husband hammered the saw tooth hanger onto the frame and it worked just fine! I hung the frame on the wall and I don't have any problem about it falling. I seriously don't understand what all the complains was all about. And seriously, I don't mind the cardboard backing on this frame because come on, who looks at the back of a frame anyway?! 😂
All in all, I'm really glad I bought the frame as I could finally display my diploma now! So, if you want to get nice looking frame(s) for a much lower price, you can probably check out the ones from this seller! I'd totally recommend. Thanks!!
Custom frame size? Yes please! I think the haters on here have never actually purchased a custom frame. They are expensive! Know why the ones at Walmart are cheap? Mass produced standard size. You're getting a custom size frame shipped to you in a matter of days. The price is absolutely reasonable. Go to a shop if you want higher quality and spend a lot more dough.
We're very happy with it. My only foible with it was my own fault. Take EVERYTHING out of the frame before attempting to attach the hooks. The screwdriver slipped and cracked the plastic. My fault, so don't be like me. But it still looks good either way. I recommend these if you need an odd size. Standard size, yes, you may get higher quality for less, but that's why it's standard.
Over the past several weeks, in a few different orders, I bought quite a few of these satin black frames in various sizes from Art To Frames, and I'm really pleased. They're very inexpensive, particularly when you buy multiple frames in one order directly from the supplier Art To Frames, rather than choose the Prime shipping option. The combined shipping costs are very reasonable, so that even when just buying 2 at once you save quite a lot over the Prime price by buying them directly.
And inexpensive was important since I had to buy about 25 in all kinds of sizes. But it was also important to me that they look good, since I was putting the finishing touches in a room we recently spent a lot of time & effort to renovate. The simple black frames were just the look I needed. While the backing is cardboard and the tabs holding it in are cheap, the exterior of the frame (what you see when it hangs) is well-finished and looks high-quality. That's what matters to me. Plus they provide quality hardware for hanging. The cheaper hidden parts are fine with me to save money, since it looks great where it counts. I also bought mats from them for these frames in most cases, and again, they were high quality, cut to exactly the size I requested, and they look really sharp.
Also, they're extremely careful with handling & packing - only one frame arrived less than perfect, out of all the ones I ordered, and I would have been happy to keep it as is (it was a small scratch along a side that wouldn't show) but they insisted on sending a replacement.
The supplier was quick to put orders together & get them out - it was usually the same or next business day, depending on what time I placed my order and how large. Then, since I'm not far (Philly area), I receive my order the next business day after it ships.
I've seen a few comments complaining about the plastic rather than glass front, but these people have clearly not bought large frames before. They use glass in the smaller frames (like 11x14), and some kind of plastic in the larger ones because it's lighter. You really don't want to hang a huge piece of glass on your wall. The plastic has a thin static cling film on either side to keep it from scratching. Do be careful cleaning it once you've peeled that off. I don't recommend using paper towel, but I had a lot of luck with a Swiffer duster.
I definitely plan to buy these or their other frames & mats when I need them again.
A very high quality and well put together frame. This frame was of a higher quality than i would have expected. This frame is not at all flimsy, does Not warp and is made of a solid feeling wood, not pressed cardboard, from the best that i can tell. The clear pane that holds in the photo is a thin plexi glass plastic (with plastic wrap on both sides to prevent scratching while shipping). The backing plate that holds in the photo is simply a piece of average cardboard, so if your photo is smaller than the frame be sure to have a mat. This frame is also cut to hold the exact size listed maybe a centimeter of give so be aware that photos larger that the given demotions WILL NOT FIT. Please also be aware that the mounting wire does come with the frame but it does NOT come installed into the frame, you will have to screw in the brackets and tie in the wire yourself. The color of the frame is also of higher quality than i expected based off of the photos provided. While the color of the frame is a matte black, some of the wood grain texture shows through slightly and adds to the frame quality. 10/10, I will be buying from this company again.
