Velvet hangers. Often purchased because they’re cheap to buy in bulk, save space and are non-slip.
I switched over solely to these about a year ago when I came to the conclusion I wouldn’t magically have more closets but needed more space. I’ve bought priced bundles as premium stores and cheaper bundles at HomeGoodMaxxMarshallRoss stores.
They’re all nearly identical.
Yes, they save space.
Yes, they’re perfect for clothes that normally slip and slide.
Occasionally, some handles swivel loosely and occasionally some don’t.
Some seem sturdy and perfect, while others are ridged and snap or the handle pops out.
This is why I buy double what I need and loose about 25% to breakage.
Perfect for 100% cotton clothes, bad for silk, rayon and the like.
Rules of thumb: if it bunches up when ironing or normally slides off a plastic hanger, the clothing item may stick to these. If it pills up or sheds or leaves a lot of lint in the dryer, the velvet may rub off on these. The latter is solved with a decent multi-handle lint brush.
If you hang your clothes wet or damp, maybe wait to transfer to these.
If you’re worried that much about velvet rubbing off, there are ridged, low-profile all-plastic hangers out there, but they’re pricier.
For cheap, space-saving, decent hangers that nearly double your closet space and keep clothes from sliding off, these work great.
Just be wise and pay attention to what you’re hanging on them and use a little finesse.
If you have expensive items or a lot of silk, maybe skip these.
If you’re really worried about the velvet rubbing off, get the grey and NOT the black. I’ve found the grey doesn’t rub off as much, but the handles are less likely to swivel and more likely to pop out.
Overall< know what you’re getting into with velvet hangers or stick to wood or plastic.
This is the greatest deal on velvet hangers---if you can get them for under $13 or so for a pack of 50 then it's a steal, and you should snap them up. I can't sing their praises enough---just do yourself a favor and buy 1 or 2 packs so you can do a closet overhaul---you'll be amazed at how much more you can fit into your closet when the clothing is on skinny hangers.
The velveteen flocking really does grip even the slipperiest silk shirts, so no more finding shirt puddles on the floor of your closet!
Unlike some of the dissatisfied reviews here, I had no problems with the flocking. There's no velvet dust , and no residue on my hands or clothing. I'm guessing sometimes there are batches that aren't as good as others, just like everything else. If that happens, just exchange them---Amazon stands by anything with the AmazonBasics brand.
I just received these today and already changed out my old plastic hangers for these ones for my portable closet. It did save me space and it looks more uniform instead of having different types of hangers. I didn't receive any broken hangers and did not notice any shedding from the velvet like some other reviewers. Possibly there are some good batches and some bad ones? I will definitely be ordering another 50pk of these to start on my actual closet. The price if very good compared to other retailers. In my before and after pictures (ignore the mess I am rearranging and going through stuff) I took out 3 shirts but then added probably about 10 more shirts. Not all of the hangers are these ones (just the 50 black) the rest are from either the Dollar Tree (3 for $1) or Ross/Marshalls which was maybe 10/20 for $10 or something. So the colored ones and some of the black ones are not these ones. I have only had them a few days and they haven't broken nor have I noticed any fuzz/lint from them though as you can see most of my clothes are dark colors.
Reviewing bc there are so many GROWN adults crying over bs. They’re hangers. They do the trick.
1. these hangers are cheap AF, so if they break O M G get over it and spend $15 to order another set OR go to your local dollar store, get some super glue, and fix it. Again SUPER CHEAP!
2. Why are we rubbing the velvet when we order??? Are y’all dumb????
$15 hangers are gonna rub off. Again C H E A P - you want better quality, SPEND THE MONEY FOR BETTER QUALITY!
3. Before you right a childish review, act your age & not your shoe size. Smh.
SO happy with these so far. I had heard multiple times that these hangers would change my life. While this sounded nice, I struggled to justify spending money on hangers when I already have a couple hundred here that work just fine. However, after needing to add career clothes to my wardrobe and completely losing all free movement remaining in my closet, I put these in my cart. They came today and I've already switched out my whole closet (except for skirts - I am awaiting finger clips from Amazon to convert these hangers to pant/skirt hangers).
Going through my entire closet lead me to get rid of a couple of things that I no longer wear. However, the difference in my closet because of the hangers alone is striking. I can finally shift clothes to the side to actually see what I have. While some may think that saving their money and dealing with a tight closet is worth it, I am completely sold on making the change. So happy I pulled the trigger. I've purchased 100 more just now so that I can do the same for my boyfriend's closet.

Description
An Amazon Brand.
After reading a few reviews I was perfectly prepared to embrace a few duds and setup casualties with these hangers. After all, what can you expect at $33.99 for 100 hangers, right? That's more than half the price of any other hangers out there.
Well, 300+ hangers later, they are all happily dangling in my closet, making it look pretty :)
The heads do swivel, yay. As a few reviews mentioned, you have to give them a firm twist, they'll make a snapping sound, and swivel from then on effortlessly.
They are skinny and lightweight, freeing up a ton of space in your closet. I was a little concerned about the flimsy feel, but they don't act flimsy at all. The hangers are holding up heavy jackets just fine. I did put two hangers inside the heaviest full-length men's winter coat just in case (my hubby's idea actually), so that's an option if you've got something extra heavy.
I got the ivory/beige ones and have seen zero shedding on my black tops.
All in all, I have zero complains. At this price-point I was willing to give them 5 stars even with a few duds so long as they did their job right. The fact that they were all 100% flawless leaves me wishing they had 6 stars. Impressive job Amazon!
I bought 100 black velvet and 100 ivory velvet. This is because I decided I wanted to hang up my clothes and change my closet set up. Originally I picked up the 100 black ones thinking it would be enough but it wasn't so I went back and got another set. The ivory ones were cheaper so I picked them up. 200 hangers was perfect. Including the Christmas and Black Friday stuff I had use for exactly 200 hangers.
The black velvet hangers did not obviously shed but I did notice some black velvet on the ivory hangers.
The hangers have some shape difference but nothing major.
None of them were broken on arrival and none have broken since. I am rough with things and as long as you don't furiously yank things you will be ok.
I love the low profile and the nice look but it can get tiring having to make sure the clothing item is facing the correct direction because the hanger does not swivel. Other than that nice product at a great price.
Love these hangers! I have very limited closet space and it's amazing how many items I can hang up in my tiny closet. The hangers are thin so they don't take up much space. 4 of these hangers take up as much space as 1 plastic hanger. They are covered with a velvety covering so thst once I get the clothing properly aligned on them, the clothing stays put. I don't have to worry about strappy tops falling on the floor or hanging oddly on them. They stay put. Also, these hangers don't leave puckered fabric on the sleeves (like you can get from other hangers). These are the only hangers I use in my closets. I have the multiple pant hangers and the shirt hangers also.
I decluttered my closet but something was still ‘off’. After seeing recommendations to get a single hanger type to streamline, I dug in and looked at every kind out there. I settled on these slim black and silver hangers and I LOVE them. My sweaters don’t slide, nor do my straps dresses and they hold up to my long wool coat. I didn’t have a shedding issue with mine but I also don’t have white hanging clothing for the fall / winter season - all my whites are folded. Either way I haven’t noticed shedding on my hands / bed / or clothes so far and I’ve had them maybe 2 months .
One thing I would say - someone in another review mentioned you could turn the hanger head to face the other direction or perpendicular to the hanger body. I tried and found that the plastic was molded around the hanger head and when I twisted the head, the plastic around it snapped. I fixed it with super glue easily. I would not say they are flimsy — I did rotate it 180, so no fault of the product just wanted to mention it.
Would definitely buy again although after decluttering, I need to stick to the 50 hangers and NO MORE! ;)
My closet, like many women’s, is overflowing with clothes and not enough space. I got these hangers because I literally could not fit 1 more hanger in there! Wow what a difference...I even ordered more (and more) I love that everything and I mean everything like tanks, cami’s, dresses, shirts and heavy sweaters hang on these perfect. I don’t have to ask for hangers from the store or look for a special one to hang a certain item! I absolutely love these. My boyfriend won’t use them which stinks because as you can see, his side (right) takes up tons of space with his thick plastic hangers. He likes to just pull his shirts out in the morning off the hanger and not have to take the hanger out and take the item off. Since they are velvet you can just yank. I have so much more room now and all my clothes are hung up again! Yay!
