This Is a great bed. I got three of them and no problem. I think some of the bad reviews come from people who are not very Mechanically inclined not to say this that's some kind of engineering degree but it helps to know how to tighten bolt without over tighten and striping out the screws. I have a couple of Tip that might help.
1: Put the whole frame together very loosely before you tighten it down.
2: Put Loctite Red on all the screws this will help them from backing out and the bed frame squeaking during your extracurricular activities.
3: Don't jump on the bed it is not a Trampoline. If you can't help but jump on the bed buy your self a Trampoline to sleep on.

I bought this platform bed frame about 9 months ago and it is holding up well. I do not use a box frame with the platform. I ordered the queen size and the package got delivered within a week. I had my boyfriend assemble it and it took him about half an hour. The frame started squeaking like crazy after a couple of months (which is awkward at times) because of loose screws. I took the advice of some other reviews and had my boyfriend go back in and coat the screws with Loctite Heavy Duty Threadlocker, 0.2 oz, Blue 242, Single and now it is as silent as a ninja! If you buy this, make sure to coat the screws with Loctite the first time around so that life is easier! I learned the hard way.

After reading extensively through the other reviews, I went ahead and ordered this knowing what the possible problems could be (drilled holes not lining up and middle support too short because of facing legs the wrong way when putting together). I could always return it I figured.
Mine arrived perfect. No scratches, no mismatched holes, and I found the directions easy to follow especially with the tips from the other reviews. I set my pieces out and lined up my numbers before screwing anything in to ensure I wouldn't realize an earlier mistake at the end and have to dismantle the whole thing! I found that helped me visualize too. All in it took me about 25 mins (but 5 mins of that was unpacking and laying the pieces out on the floor with my five year old daughter's assistance!) and I only needed the provided tool. I was nervous about the wood slats from other reviews and while they don't seem as rock solid as the metal frame, they are slightly better than I expected. This was purchased for a full size mattress for guests and overall I am extremely happy with it and would purchase another in the future.

The price of this frame is awesome. The assembly couldn't be easier. The material is Ok at best. I've seen a lot of photos of the tubing literally tearing off at the legs by other reviewers. I definitely will update if that happens, but I trust it enough now.

My biggest issue was the center support and leg. The leg is about 1/4" too short, but I can easily remedy that with a 1/4" plate under it. Perhaps they made it that way to allow the center of the bed to flex a little? Who knows. The hole for the single bolt was already torn right out of the box (see photo). There is no spacer to keep you from crushing the tubing when tightening up the screw. No washer or added material to widen the pressure from the screw head which is quite small to begin with. If I had used the screw in the hole I had, it likely would have just popped through where the tear was. I ended up just cutting some thicker rectangular tubing I had and drilling a hole in it for a washer. Someone had a picture of another zinus bed (1000 perhaps) where the center support just collapsed and the center leg bent sideways. Hopefully this cannot happen now with the piece I added.

I just hand tightened all the screws first with loctite on each one before going around and tightening them all twice. This was done as an attempt to prevent the squeaking so many people have complained of.

Super easy to install - I did it myself in less than an hr. It turned out great. I put a box spring AND mattress atop it so my bed is super high which I like. I was able to store tons of stuff under my bed which is exactly what I was trying to do. I definitely recommend it. (I put a 21 inch bed skirt over my box spring and it looks great).

Super easy to assemble. Alone, on a hardwood floor, I managed to put it together in about 20mins with no scratches to the floor. Also had to take it apart and put it together again only a little while later, and it was just as easy to disassemble and reassemble. The pieces were easy to move out of their packaging, as well. The wood slats are great for memory foam mattresses, as they are close together, and I like that they're nice enough looking that when they are visible under my mattress, they're not unpleasant to look at. Lots of room for under-bed storage, perfect for a small space. Seems sturdy. Doesn't squeak, but you definitely need grips under the legs to keep it from moving.

This thing was SUPER easy to install, literally took me 10 minutes. Here's my suggestion. Take everything apart EXCEPT the wooden pieces. DO NOT ATTACH anything. Line up all the numbers. Just set the pieces next to each other. You literally just match all the numbers. 1-1 2-2 3-3 4-4 5-5 6-6 7-7 8-8. That's it. Do the head or footing first. Then do the other side. Just put the nuts/bolts in tight enough to hold it together, meaning, use the allen wrench tool that's provided, but don't tighten it up more with any pressure, just close enough so that it doesn't fall apart. Do this all around. Then go back all around and tighten it. Don't ever tighten it more than you need to. The rule of thumb is you hand tighten it as much as you can, then 1 full turn. If you over tighten ANY bolts/nuts, you will damage the pieces.
tldr; first line up all the bolts/nuts then go back around and tighten all the bolts again, the last 1 full turn should not be over tightened as you will damage the product - it happens with anything you over tighten ... If you are not mechanically inclined... DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Put it on just enough so it doesnt fall apart, then do 1 full turn. That's it. Goodluck

Ultimately it all went together and it feels solid, the bolts have locking washers on them and I don't see them coming loose, but at the same time:
* several of the bolt holes should of been re-tapped, I would have if I had an appropriate tap on hand.
* the distance between centers on the adjacent bolt holes varies wildly between corners. On one corner the washers where almost overlapping, if they where overlapping I would of had to return the entire bed.
* on one corner I had ample clearance to turn the included allen key 360 degrees. On another corner, I couldn't even turn it 180 degrees.
* tightening the allen bolts down, I rounded out some of the allen heads, if I ever have to move this bed and can't do so without disassembly, I will probably have to replace the bolts. I would also re-tap the bolt holes.

Otherwise, if I had spent a little bit longer shopping I would of bought the 10 inch platform w/ headboard.

I wish they sold the legs, headboard (and footboard?) separately.

Zinus is now my Go To brand. The Zinus 12 Inch Performance Plus/Extra Firm Twin I ordered was my first "Hybrid" mattress. I wanted the Extra Firm because the bed would be used as an occasional Guest Bed and a daily use Day Bed. The bed is in my home office and is wonderful to sit on or lye on during the day. The package came quickly and in great condition, being a hybrid it relaxed from the packaging very quickly. The quality is fabulous and I now own two Zinus bases because of the confidence I have in the quality of Zinus products. The base I put under this Zinus 12 Inch Performance Plus/Extra Firm is the Zinus 14 Inch MyEuro SmartBase / Wooden Slat. I gently modified the Zinus Headboard Bracket (stated it would not fit but was easy to bend a tab and use) and am thrilled with the result. I was so impressed that I ordered the Zinus Modern Studio 14 Inch Platform 1500 Metal Bed Frame for a double old school bed we have and tossing the box spring and using this base made the bed new again. The this unit uses a simple assembly method that had it together and bolted to a headboard in no time. It really added value to an old mattress and guest room.

For a frame that costs less than $100, this is a stylish bed for your buck. It assembles very quickly and easily, the red paint is glossy and even with no bubbling or chips, and it looks like a fancier parsons style bed once it's made.

Not all of the pieces line up 100% perfectly but this is not visible/noticeable and doesn't seem to be affecting the stability of the bed. The other slightly weird thing to note is that there is no lip to contain your mattress in place--instead, there are double-sided tape strips on the wood slats which are not particularly effective at gripping the mattress. If you're a lighter person, I'd recommend a heavier mattress to keep it from shifting around on top.

Overall this is a good-looking bed for the money. Would love to see it in additional interesting colors and with head/footboards--the color really gives this a leg-up in terms of looking like a higher-end design.
