Eureka Mighty Mite 3670G Corded Canister Vacuum Cleaner, Yellow, Pet, 3670G-Yellow

I've had this vacuum for over 5 years now and have never had one spot of trouble with it. I've read some of the negative things other reviewers have posted and I honestly do not understand their complaints. This is a canister vacuum cleaner, not a jet airplane.

PROS:
1. It's hard plastic, as most canister vacuums are. The body of the unit is made of very sturdy, thick plastic and the wheels are solid and work well.
2. It has a long cord length. If it were any longer, it would be unwieldy. I don't think there is any vacuum that has a cord that is long enough to just plug in once and vacuum an entire house. The cord is long enough to vacuum two large rooms.
3. The hose is also thick plastic and does not kink.
4. Not all the attachments fit onto the body of the vacuum but I couldn't care less about that. I bought some extra attachment tools and I keep all the attachments in a small trash can that I carry with me as I go from room to room.
5. There is more or less static depending on where you live. I live in Tucson where it's dry and there's usually a lot of static in the air. It's not a dysfunction of the hose that it has static and that hair clings to it as you vacuum. I just wet a cleaning cloth, swipe it down the hose and all the hair and other little bits come off easily. Then I swipe the hose with an anti-static dryer sheet.
6. This vacuum has a lot of sucking power and has a sliding piece that can be opened or closed depending on how much power you need. I use it for everything - dusting, floors and carpeting. For carpeting, I use it to suck up all the surface hairs then I use my Oreck upright for deeper carpet cleaning. If I don't do this, hair gets wrapped around the wheels of the Oreck and it's a pain to pick them out.
7. The piece that the hose connects to is metal, not plastic, and it can be extended to full length for floors or shortened for dusting.
8. The HEPA filter works great. No more dirt escaping out the back of the vacuum.
9. How the "pet" attachment works is self-evident and no instructions are needed to understand how it works.
10. The bags that this vacuum uses have a flap that covers the hole, so when the bag is full and is taken out to put in the trash, nothing falls out of the bag.

CONS:
None!

I'm very happy with this vacuum, which I've used almost every day for over five years, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good canister vacuum.

4 years ago I scoured reviews on Amazon, searching for the champion of vacuums. All others I tried failed, dying by strangulation. You see, I have long hair, anywhere from past my shoulders to past my waist. My daughter also has long hair. Not to mention that I have a dog. There is a lot of hair going on! And this is apparently a treacherous terrain for the suckers that came into my home one by one. Upright strong contenders with rolling brushes would be wrapped up, unable to move, with one trip through my house. I was spending more time with a pair of scissors attempting to free the brushes from the snares of tresses for more time than it took me to clean. And it would only delay the inevitable day when it would no longer engage in battle. Dare Devils came and went within 1-6 months. But then, this vacuum arrived and Eureka! It lasted 4 years. With no spinning brushes, and perfectly clean floors, I was very happy. But alas, this fine warrior finally lost its strength. It still runs and maybe I'm just not knowledgeable enough to fix it. He is the tired champion. I've come back to buy another one.

I've had this vacuum for over 5 years now, and as I was hosing it out again to clean off/out drywall dust, I fell in love all over again. I have abused this little machine, even dropping it off a ladder recently. I wiggled the innards back together again, and it works like a charm. But where it really shines is in cleaning up drywall dust! I brought this into the remodel job (a bathroom) and used it to clean up the horrible aftermath of an evening of sanding new drywall mud--there is fine dust everywhere. My Mighty Mite stood up to any Shop Vac, but took up a lot less room. The HEPA filters are MONEY! The bags themselves are a dream and catch most of the dust, but the HEPA filter on the back of the vacuum really kept the job fully contained--no blowing dust out the back into my relatively clean bedroom. When the vacuum stopped sucking, I changed disposable bags--which are affordable--and was back in business. I'm buying a couple more filters--also affordable--just to have on hand.
A good vacuum is priceless, and this one is excellent.

I have two German Shepherd dogs and three cats. I have a lot of pet hair. Sometimes I vacuum daily, sometimes I ignore the hair for a day or two. I had two upright vacuums - you know - the kind with two or three filters, and a little tiny canister. I would need to empty that canister at least 3 times while vacuuming. The filters would get nasty. They're never the same after you clean them and trying to replace them is expensive IF you can even find the correct filter. THAT'S why I purchased this vacuum. So glad I did too! It has a bag that holds lots and lots of dog hair (German Shepherd dogs shed approximately two entire dogs every other day) and there are no filters... well, I guess there is a filter at the exhaust end and honestly, I have never changed it. I have laminate flooring with area rugs. This particular model does not have the best rug attachment but a friend had a nice rug attachment (she has no rugs/carpeting) that has the rotating brush bar and gave me hers and it works great (you could probably find that here on Amazon). This vacuum has a nice long cord so I don't need to keep unplugging and replugging as I clean house. Love it! Will never use another vacuum. Highly recommend!

This little vacuum has super powerful suction and is really lightweight. I would only recommend it for hard floors though. I also replaced the floor brush with one that doesn't have wheels (picture included). I hate the ones with wheels because it prevents you from putting any pressure on the brush. What good is a brush if you can't scrub with it?
I clean houses for a living and I use this at a home with 4 dogs and 2 cats. It has all hard floors so this vacuum is perfect. I really don't have to replace the bag very often either, which is surprising since it seems small.
The hose is super long which is a plus, however it does kink easily. Still, it is worth the money, I've used Dyson, Meile, Rainbow, Hyla, Hoover etc, this vacuum has as good of suction as the best of them.

The Mighty Mite canister vacuum is equipped with powerful brush rolls to deep clean carpets and a full set of tools are provided for specialty cleaning such as stairs and upholstery. This canister vacuum can pick up dust and pet hair easily. It has also made cleaning the insides of a car more convenient as it sucks up dirt and other small particles from under the seats as well as the sides. Refer to page 16 in the user guide for troubleshooting steps.

A great little vacuum. But it could use some improvements.

PROS:
1. Impressive amount of suction (more than you'd think in this price range).
2. Lightweight. It's easy to pull around the house, or pick up and carry.
3. Bag is very easy to replace. And it holds a decent amount. Also, you can look inside the bag opening to easily see how full it is.
4. Cord wrap is on the bottom. And the front caster swivels to allow a quick release of the cord.
5. Very reasonably priced.
6. There's only one bag to replace. Unlike a lot of vacuums, it doesn't have several expensive filters and pre-filters that must be replaced. A HEPA attachment can be added to this vacuum. But seriously, I just need something to vacuum the floor (not clean the air).

CONS:
1. The hose easily kinks, cutting off suction. At least once every time I use it, I have to unkink the hose. Without a doubt, the cheap hose is the worst thing about this vacuum.
2. There's a device on the handle that you can twist to reduce suction power (for things like drapery). But it's too easy to activate. And I often find myself vacuuming with reduced suction, because I didn't realize that I accidentally opened it.
3. If you disconnect the hose, and you tilt the vacuum forward, dirt falls out of the bag. They really need some sort of flapper to prevent this.
4. The plastic extension wands are friction fit. Unless you push them together very tightly, they come apart while vacumming. And then when you want to separate them, it can be a struggle. The wands really need some sort of locking collar.
5. No rotating brush head. Because of this, I don't recommend this vacuum for deep cleaning of rugs and carpet.

Despite the drawbacks, you'd be hard pressed to find a better lightweight cannister for the money.

This is definitely a budget vacuum and the attachments that come with it barely adequate. You also have to take care that the model has a blower or a hepa filter. I don't believe it can have both as the hepa filter will go in the same place as the blower port (from my extrapolations). In other words, you'll have to do more research than reading amazon reviews to know for sure. Again, from my extrapolations, I believe the violet pet version is the only one with a hepa filter. Otherwise, the vacuum is surprisingly powerful for it's size. I also haven't filled the bag despite vacuuming a large, dirty house. Now the Mighty Mite can do carpet well on a small scale but is more for hard surfaces. It's very portable and the extension wands provide impressive reach. I've read that the hose is easily bent though mine is fine. I would suggest purchasing other attachments along with ascertaining exactly what features go with the specific model you intend to purchase. The amazon reviews are muddled in this regard though it seems color and model number are linked. The model only comes in one color; change the color and change the model number as well as the features.

Powerful suction in a compact vacuum--the Mighty Mite has been around since 1982, and it's a proven design and product. Prior to its introduction, Hoover dominated this niche with their excellent Porta Power vacuum. The Eureka was an improvement in almost every way.

Eureka's Mighty Mite offers outstanding suction in a handy vacuum that is a great accompaniment to an upright vacuum cleaner (dedicated for deep-cleaning your carpets). In fact, the Mighty Mite is more than up to most other dry vacuuming tasks, with its huge 12.0 Amp suction motor, and versatile attachment/tool set.

The hose seems flimsy and cheap, but this is by design. It serves its purpose, and is relatively inexpensive to replace. The hose is for the most part, crush-proof, and unless you cut it, it'll last a long, long time. Price the nicer, wire-framed hoses and you'll know what I mean--this version is far less expensive to replace! But it is a bit stiff and unwieldy in close quarters, like on a stairway, say.

The air-driven turbine attachment does an outstanding job on fabric upholstery, and the vac's handy size takes it right into your car, van, truck, boat, etc.

For a smaller home without carpeting (you need a motor-driven brush roll to properly deep-clean carpeting), you'll find the Mighty Mite is up to cleaning the whole house!

By virtue of its design, the Mighty Mite has a smaller bag capacity, and will lose noticeable power as the bag fills, so you'll want to keep plenty of disposable vacuum bags on hand.

I'd also recommend keeping a spare motor air filter on hand, so you can pop the clean one in while the one you've washed and rinsed out dries...

The wand attachments give plenty of reach, but I'd recommend upgrading the "dusting brush" to a horse hair bristle model, to avoid marking up painted walls, etc.

And if you have fine wood floors, you can order special soft, all bristle floor attachments for it as well, and handle your sweeping and dust mopping in one fell swoop.

The plucky little Mighty Mite gets four out of a possible five stars for the following two reasons:

1) The sharply bent wand just begs for clogging, and the suction bleed-off control is placed where you'll constantly be knocking it open! The fix for both of these annoying features appears below...

2) The HEPA feature is laughable! This vacuum leaks so much air around the HEPA filter as to render it superfluous and useless! This is one of those abuses of truth in advertising, that you need to be mindful of... Sure, it accommodates a HEPA filter... But it is by no stretch of the imagination a HEPA grade performer--there's too much exhaust air leakage for that! Nope, you will not be doing any asbestos abatement with this puppy.

If you want true HEPA performance for your home, look into something like a Lindhaus HEPA Vacuum ( $$$$ ).

But even with these noted shortcomings, and my own allergy problems, I've ordered two of these little suckers--one for us, and another as a wedding gift. I think that much of them.

When used with genuine Eureka bags, the air filtration is acceptable, even with my allergy/asthma problems. Around our home, we use a combination of this vacuum, a Eureka Commercial Upright Vacuum (with disposable bags) for the carpets, and a Hoover Electric Broom, for pretty much everything we need a vacuum for! And the combination of these machines is far less than a the coast of a new Lindhaus. And the bags are easy to come by too!

So, yes, with a couple of tweaks, and realistic expectations, I do recommend this product!

THE FIXES for the AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEMS:

1A) Order a gently curved wand extension and attach it to the user end of the hose, to eliminate the constant clogging.

1B) Rotate the suction bleed-off control completely around backwards on the wand, so that you won't constantly be knocking it open.

2A) Dispose of the HEPA Filter and forget about it (unless your need of a HEPA vacuum is certain). Keeping a clean bag and motor filter in the vacuum will satisfy most home owners as far as dust filtration goes).

2B) Use the Genuine Eureka Bags in this vacuum, and swap out the filters routinely. And don't forget to promptly change the bag if it's full! If you want compactness in a vacuum, you are going to have to accept a smaller bag capacity--there's no way around that. A larger canister-style vacuum will clean better, longer, only because its bag capacity is larger (and it will also be heavier and take up a lot more space).

I for one, am not a fan of the so-called bag-less vacuum cleaners...

P.S. Get your genuine bags right here on Amazon, and get any spare parts from the OEM, as they're cheaper and they won't nail you on the shipping costs like so many parts houses will.

I've had a Eureka Mighty Mite for years big the power button broke. I did have it repaired and the vac repair man said "This is a good vacuum". I used it for years afterwards until the heavy handed boyfriend broke the button again. I purchased this one an was glad to see that the button was redesigned. It has great suction and is very reliable. I wanted this to vacuum furniture, walls, pillows ect as it is easier and lighter to handle tan the shark vacuum. With the shark I have to wield around the motor section which gets quite heavy after a while and I have found that a lot of vacuums are like this. Ones that do have a hose has quite a short hose. The Eureka has quite a long which I need for my applications. This has the attachments at the end of a light hose and does the job easily. I did purchase the pet hair attachment though that should only be used when needed as it is more taxing on the material than just suction. Love this!

Purchased this vacuum to clean out pews in our sanctuary. Works like a charm! The custodian is thrilled that her life is made easier, which is a good thing. Thank you!
