Systane Complete Lubricant Eye Drops, 2x10mL TWIN

Systane Complete Lubricant Eye Drops, 2x10mL TWIN

I had lasik eye surgery many years ago and a side effect I have suffered with ever since has been that my eyes dry out at night when I sleep, to a fairly severe degree. They are okay during the day....the problem only exists when I am sleeping.

The only solution I have found that helps is an eye gel, this one in particular:Systane Lubricant Eye Gel, 0.34-Ounces. Even this one though, tends to lose its effect during the middle of the night. So, that's when I add "regular" eye drops.

I have tried many brands, including of course this one I am reviewing, also from Systane. It does a good job, but I don't see any significant difference as compared to another brand I have been using from Bausch + Lomb, this one: Bausch + Lomb Soothe XP Dry Eye Drops, Xtra Protection Lubricant Eye Drop with Restoryl Mineral Oils, 0.50oz.

Note that the Systane brand at one third of a fluid ounce is much smaller than the Bausch + Lomb brand at half a fluid ounce, and (as of this writing) is also a few dollars more expensive. As far as value, I would recommend the Bausch + Lomb brand, since it costs less and from my experience is just as effective.

I uploaded a photo to give you an overview of both. Note the size of the Systane box compared to the size of the actual bottle. Clever marketing, no?

Bottom line is that it does do a good job of lubricating your eyes, and it touts the benefit of "nano-droplets" for better coverage, but I simply did not experience any major difference from other brands I have used, including the Bausch + Lomb brand I mentioned above.

I hope my experience helped you to some degree....thanks for reading!

I have chronic dry eye, so I have some experience with many types and brands of eyedrops.

As thickness/viscosity goes, this is truly one of the thinner preparations I've ever tried -- the "nano droplet" descriptor seems to be appropriate. I find that they hydrate extremely well because, being on the "thin" side, they can get into all little recesses under one's eyelids, and they do not blur my vision longer than a couple of seconds. That's really a big positive, as I've had a lot of negative experience trying to get high-viscosity drops to coat my eyeball fully.

As for duration of effectiveness, I'd put these at a medium-short length, compared with other drops on the market. They do seem to last longer than most low-viscosity drops, but they don't last as long as I'd like for a drop that advertises itself as "long-lasting."

With that said, if you want a thin drop that offers great coverage and lasts for a medium duration, these are very good, and I can highly recommend them.

Best Systane so far, just edging out...was it Ultra or Balance I used to use? I don’t remember, but it doesn’t matter - this one is the best!

Great (best?) price - I have it set up on my Subscube and Save, a pack of two bottles per month. One stays at bedside, one I take with me in my bag.

Complete works very well with my contact lenses. I’m currently trying to get in the habit of pulling them out and re-lubricating my eyes and lenses a few times a day.

This - the contact dousing - probably runs counter to the indicated usage per the package instructions. Most eye drops say not to mix with lenses. But hey - mine are dailies. And, really, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, particularly when it comes to bone-dry eyeballs and contacts about to be sticky paste dry adhered to the aforementioned eyeballs! When I realize I can’t see clearly and there’s a film of haze, this stuff saves the day!

Also, perfect for wake up and before bed. I have several types of eye drops to get my eyes going in the morning, and these are the ones which lubricate my eyes to a near-normal state.

If anyone finds something better, let me know - my Restasis is not able to cover my desert eyes, not at the moment!

If anyone has an overnight product that really works (so far, no luck with OTC ointment nor gel), please pass your secret along!

So, yeah - if you’re trying to decide between the various Systane drops (or others), in my experience, these are the new best!

I realize everyone’s eyes/bodies react and perform differently. Ex: I seem to be good without the single-use, preservative-free tubes, at least, I’m good with these drops. I do use up the bottles quickly, since they feel soooo goood, so I’m sure frequent replacement with a new bottle helps prevent potential issues.

What do you guys think? Holla to any other Sjogren’s...ies! Is there a cute nickname for us, like Lupus/Lupies?

Sorry if I steer anyone wrong, but a few CTD friends of mine also stick with the Systane line for lubricating drops. I hope these work for you!

I have dry eye, lacking proper lipids. I’ve been using Systane Balance (recommended by my Opthamologist) and it worked, but didn’t last very long and also didn’t help with the itching. I have such severe itching, that in one eye, I have eyelash loss. Systane Complete is fantastic!! It doesn’t evaporate quickly, so your eyes are comfortable for hours. I used one drop in each eye before bed and woke up without blurry vision, stinging, no sticking to my eye lids and no itching! I love it.

Excellent dry eye relief. Helps with irritation and long lasting hydration. Possibly better relief and longer lasting than Systane Ultra, which is also an excellent product.

Recommended by my eye doctor. I really like the drops and the way they feel. I was cautioned to use no more than 4 times a day since this has a preservative.

I have tried several dry eye therapy products because of severe dry eyes. My ophthalmologist recommended Systane “Balance” and it works pretty well. A few weeks ago I purchased this new product “Systane Complete” and It is fantastic! I’m not a doctor so I have no idea what the difference is between the other sustain product but I can tell a significant reduction in irritation and dryness.

Pricing is very reasonable compare to the other eye drops for dry eye condition and really works better.

I have a dry eye, and have used Systane Ultra for several years, having found it to be the most effective. This new drop from Systane works and lasts even better. I was using a bottle of the Ultra each week, and the Complete lasts twice as long.

Very soothing and effective
