I previously used a lesser-known brand of kinesio tape and wanted to try this brand since it came in pre-cut strips, which would make it easier to use than having to measure every time. I've been using the tape for wrist tendonitis (from my desk job) and on-again-off-again knee pain (from running). The tape has been incredibly helpful in relieving pain and allowing me to continue working and running.
However, one thing I've noticed is that the effectiveness of the glue seems to vary depending on the color. Another runner had mentioned this to me before I purchased the tape and I thought that maybe she'd gotten a bad roll. Experience has shown me that some colors really do stick better than others. (Note that I am putting the tape on as recommended: applying to freshly cleaned and dried skin, so no sweat, oils, or water are getting in the way.) I purchased the blue and purple colors at the same time and started using the blue. I noticed that within 24 hours, the ends would start to peel, despite my cutting the edges to rounded corners as recommended in the instructional videos. The blue tape would barely last 2 days, whereas I can get 3 days out of the purple. Showering made the blue peel off more quickly. The off-brand I'd been using would usually last 3 days (and through showers) before I felt like it needed to be removed and re-applied, so I was surprised at how quickly the blue lost its grip.
I continued using the purple for a few months, then recently tried the blue again to see if anything had changed. One edge has already begun to peel after only a few hours. I've done everything in the videos, including rubbing the tape after applying to "activate" the glue. For whatever reason, the blue just doesn't work very well.
Aside from that, I've been very happy with this brand and will continue to use it in the future. It's relieved a great deal of pain from my wrist and has helped whenever pain pops up in my knee. I would (and do) recommend it others, just be aware you may need to try out a few colors before you find the best one. For what it's worth, the other runner who recommended the tape to me said hot pink worked the best for her. I wouldn't recommended the blue, but the purple has met my needs just fine.
I Love this stuff, and great price!, Easy to use, might take a little getting used to apply, but great videos at their website..... I have used both cotton, and the blend one, that is supposed to be water resistant.Living in Florida (humid), I find the cotton is as good or better, It stays on thru a shower, holds up better while sleeping... the other seems to come loose. I apply the blend one everyday, I can do 2 days with this, probably longer, I just want to wash skin even if it is still sticking. I am also older and not as toned in the thigh area, this is MUCH better than trying to find a knee brace that either doesn't roll down because of thigh or cut into back of knee. I get great support for knee, and allows me to rest up and restrengthen.... I have used for plantar fasciitis, ( first experience) then used for couple of knee strains. ( tendonitis) probably biggest mistake people make is to stretch tape too much, do as it suggests, hard to believe a bit of tape will make you feel better1
My niece recommended this for my plantar fasciitis which has been horrible for 2 years. I watched the KT video online to make sure I used it correctly. The tape made a huge difference right away, and after about a week of the tape plus a stretching exercise I found, I was about 90% pain free. Now I'm using it on my sore elbow. The only downside is that no matter how carefully I apply it, the darn tape only stays on for about 2 days. The edges start peeling up within hours. I trim it off as it comes up. Still, it's worth it to relieve the pain in my foot. I've gone through 4 boxes so far.
My daughter plays VB and needed extra support for her knees through practices and games during the week. It didn't stay on very long for her, about 2 days then it started peeling at the edges.
I had a groin strain and was skeptical about using this since it didn't work well for my daughter but didn't have other options since it was late. I taped late evening and the next morning my leg pain was minimal. I took the tape off after 4 days and it never once peeled off. I'm fully recovered and back to exercising.
This is the best kinesiology tape that I have found. I have been able to leave it on for 4 days as long as it doesn't get caught on my clothes. I found that putting a little 3 inch strip of the tape over the end that got caught on my clothes solves the problem and lets the full strip stay on for 3 or 4 days with showering. I prefer the pro, but the original works well too. I did notice that the pro tape provides a little more support and sticks longer than the original tape. I definitely notice a lower level of pain and muscle spasms when I use the tape. My knee has not given out with this tape on and the frequency and intensity of migraines have decreased when I have this tape applied. It is easy to apply. The KT Tape website has instructions and videos to show you different applications for the tape. I also searched for instructions and found many more from different sources. This tape is my go to when I am in pain and increased my ability to function on a daily basis. I have used it for chronic pain and spasms as well as to help muscle injuries heal. It also comes in a nice plastic case. I have sensitive skin and this tape does not irritate my skin like other brands did.

Description
KT Tape is a strong elastic sports tape that reduces pain and provides support for many common injuries. Kinesiology tape, treatments, and application techniques have been used by healthcare professionals such as orthopedics, chiropractors, physical therapists and athletic trainers for over thirty years. KT Tape is the first brand of kinesiology tape ever to be offered directly to consumers and is widely adopted by healthcare professionals and sports teams.
I had the CMC joint anthroplasty reconstruction on my right thumb. Six weeks after the surgery, I was allowed to remove the post-surgical brace and begin using my right hand “with light force”. Well, that is difficult! Once the brace came off and I started using my hand, old, unconscious habits came back. I would reach for a mug of coffee, or I’d twist my hand to scratch an itch, or I’d pull a shoe off my foot without thinking about it ... until I got a jolt of pain in my hand. My physiotherapist put one strip of this tape across the back of my hand and my CMC joint to “reduce the mobility a little”. That helped a lot, but my arthritic hand still hurt in other places like the outside if my wrist, that had been stressed for months before the surgery. So I ordered a roll of this tape and used it to basically create a flexible brace that would lightly reinforce my hand where it tends to hurt without immobilizing it anywhere. The result was amazing! I can use my hand for everyday tasks without worrying that I’ll accidentally reinjure it if I bend or twist too far or use a bit too much force. And I can continue to exercise and strengthen it with the tape-brace in place.
I’m honestly surprised at how well this stays on. I get shin splints when I run more than 2 miles or so, if I forget my compression sleeves, and yesterday I ran a 5 miler with no support. By the end of the night I was in significant pain so I finally decided to open the KT Tape I’d bought a few weeks ago. Usually a bad case of shin splints takes me a few days to a week to get over, but by the next morning I felt 100%! I could’ve easily run again today but work didn’t permit. It also stayed on during the disgustingly hot, humid (93* and 80% humidity) day we had today in Georgia, despite me wearing skinny jeans. I was certain it would peel off when I took off my jeans but it didn’t budge. So then I took the hottest bath on record, and it STILL stayed put. So I am totally sold on KT Tape brand Keniesiology Tape. I won’t be without it again. It’s certainly cooler to run in than thick compression socks or sleeves in the summer as well. My only wish is that it came in larger rolls than 20 pieces, because just to tape shin splints takes 4 whole pieces, which means there’s is only 5 applications in a box. It was very easy to apply, I just went to their website and they showed me exactly what to do. I used rubbing alcohol to wipe down my legs first before I applied, just to remove any lotion etc... and help it stick better.
I have been quite impressed with how these "simple" looking tapes can take pain away so quickly and effectively. I have 4 very bad discs in my back and my doctor did not recommend that I have any surgical intervention, so periodically, without doing anything strenuous (I am partially disabled), my back "goes out" and then I'm out of commission for anywhere from a few days to weeks. After trying so many treatments, meds, OTC creams, etc., I went online to see what others were trying. I came across a testimony which sounded promising, and it was using KT taping techniques, so I didn't have anything to lose. I couldn't get the tape quickly enough as my back had been out and with spasms and muscular pain for over a month (I was having to stand up in the classroom as I couldn't even sit for any length of time. It came with instructions but I chose to watch a video (they offer through their website) and had my husband watch it with me. After about 25 minutes after he applied the tape, I couldn't believe it; I was free of pain, no pain at all. I was skeptical at first, but then after several days of being able to be in any position, I still was free of pain. Amazing! I decided to use it on my feet (I have RSD of my left foot) and a "fasciitis" and neuropathic pain to my other foot. I can't believe how it's helped me even with that. I ordered some for my sister, who also has neuropathy (also, from a bad back). She was quite skeptical herself as she had tried so many things, but couldn't believe she was pain free. I have told other family members about this and they, too, have been amazed as how well this tape works. Thanks for this tape. It works!
Here's the thing with this item. It definitely works. I have not had pains in my hands since using it. The only problem I have with this item is that it does not stick to you long at all. The moment it's wet, you might as well get ready to change it. Other than that, excellent product.I thought this one would stick longer than the off brand ones, and it didn't work any better. Once this one was wet, it did not stick anymore either.
I've used a few different tapes and this one is the best. I have carpal tunnel and I use this tape when I do any workout (strength training / weight lifting, rowing). The tape is durable and sweat proof. It's very, very important to follow the directions for good taping. It works if you follow the directions. I do have sensitive skin, so the adhesive (which works excellently) can be a tiny bit irritating - it sticks well so when you go to take it off, it does take a bit of effort. If you have an adhesive allergy, I'd be very careful. I've repurchased and will continue to use. It's also helpful that there are different sizes. Highly recommend.
Update: follow the directions and activate the tape by gently rubbing into skin. The warming activates the tape to bind to your skin. I washed my hands frequently and even showered with the tape on and it stayed perfectly on.
