My wife went into labor a year and a half ago and that labor went very quickly....so quickly that she ended up giving birth on our bed in the presence of EMTs. We then went to the hospital where I stayed overnight with my wife and new baby girl. The next day, once things had clamed down, I went home to clean up before they came home. For those who have witnessed or gone through child birth, you know what a mess I arrived to. For those who haven't, suffice to say there are many different types of fluids and a lot of them. Let's just say I was fully expecting to be purchasing a new mattress. To my amazement, once I'd bagged our sheets and this mattress pad, our mattress was perfectly fine. I bought another one immediately and will continue to use this brand as long as it exists. I challenge anyone to put it through a more rigorous test and I'm positive it can stand up to some sweat or your child's pee in the middle of the night. I could have posted a pic but it's better for everyone if I don't.
I spent many hours reviewing water proof pads for our king size bed. We have an expensive mattress and I wanted to ensure we were purchasing the correct product. I read all of the 1 and 2 star reviews for a variety of pads hoping to find the perfect pad, and guess what, the perfect pad does not exist. I decided to purchase the SafeRest and was extremely happy that I did. I have no idea where the 1 and 2 star purchasers found the negative about this pad but after washing and drying as instructed tested the pad to ensure that it would at least be minimal leakage. 5 minutes after pouring a cup of water onto the pad, over a large pan, there was no leakage. I removed the excess water, dried the pad a second time and placed it on the mattress with absolute certainty that for, my wife and me, adequate protection was assured. Not one of the negative reviews came close to describing the product I received and I am perplexed to say the least that the product I received could be the same as described in the 1 and 2 star reviews. From the description of the pad, size, fit, no side protection, quiet, no zipper etc the pad was received precisely as described.
I replaced my 5 year old pad with this one and believe this one with provide the same service for one-third the price of my original pad. Product is exactly as described in the on line information, description, size, materials and workmanship. Excellent pad for the price.
Our dog has an incontinence issue and has leaked on our bed before. It didn't take long until the vet recommended medication. During that time we learned that not all mattress protectors are created equal. We tried the Cool Shield first, which ended up leaking very easily. Second we tried the LinenSpa Lucid which was more waterproof but not perfect. It was slightly less breathable. After this one failed we got a new mattress and I read hundreds of reviews before purchasing this one over a year ago. The SafeRest breathes excellently and hasn't leaked. I tested it thoroughly first. I also tried the Beckham which is softer and thinner but a bit less breathable. My only very minor complaint with the SafeRest is that it stains fairly easily. Do be sure to follow instructions for laundering, never use bleach. I'm willing to live with it permanently being slightly dingy even after washing as it works so well. None of the ones i tried were crinkly, but some were hotter to sleep on. If this one goes I'll buy another but spend the extra to get a full zippered encasement. I never found one that didn't have at least some bad reviews, and this one is no exception. If you need severe waterproof protection your only option is usually vinyl. But if you get any brand that breathes and feels good under the sheets be sure to test it in case the coating is defective.
Purchased this as a "better late than never" after one of our cats urinated on our bed, soaking through to the mattress, which we didn't discover until we were exhaustedly going to bed at 11:30pm, ugh. Thank goodness for air mattresses! After telling friends about what happened, they all suggested we get a waterproof mattress cover, explaining they'd come a long way since grandma's plastic wrapped days. I went with this cover because of the high ratings and am very happy! It arrived a day early so I had time to wash it before putting it on the mattress (which was still drying from the steam cleaning) and saw the water beading off of the inner liner when I put it into the washer as it filled with water, so that made me feel confident. I have not otherwise tested the waterproof-ness of the cover. It washed easily with a set of sheets (queen size) in a regular sized washing machine and dried in the dryer alongside the sheets. It did need a little extra time in the dryer after the sheets were dried, but it didn't take much longer. It's crinkle free, no plastic rustling or crinkling sounds when you touch it, which was honestly my biggest concern. Little noises really irritate me but thankfully this is silent! It fit my mattress easily with plenty of depth and is thin enough that my regular mattress pad still fit over it, as well as sheets without any problem. I'm very happy with this mattress cover, hopefully it won't ever be necessary again, but it was a painless $30 to spend on peace of mind vs. the cost of the mattress steam cleaning, buying enzyme cleaner, sleeping on an air mattress for 5 days and the elbow work and sniff testing the mattress to make sure it was cat-pee-free. Knowing that the worst case scenario of this happening again is just a few loads of laundry to clean bedding is very relieving.
After I read the reviews I went ahead and purchased the mattress protector because the price was right, most of the reviews were positive, and I was purchasing for my personal bed so I only needed minimal to moderate waterproof protection, BUT BOY WAS I SURPRISED when only 3 months after purchasing my son was sick and slept in my bed. After fluid being released from every orfice the protector WAS WATERPROOF! I followed all of the directions, everything cleaned up and off, no leakage, and here it is back on the bed in perfect condition!

This is our third re-purchase mattress cover. We have a great Dane (that sleeps in our bed) and a toddler (who plays in our bed). Because of this mattress cover, our mattresses are in pristine condition. The first time I re-purchased was simply to have a back up, and this most recent was to replace our first one - bought 4 years ago. I only did so because I couldn't stand to look at the stains on it anymore LOL, but it still was fully functioning. I'm very happy with this product I just bought a new bed and mattress (mattresses aren't Cheap!) so I decided to protect my investment with this mattress protector. Worth every penny- this saved my mattress! We have a warranty on our new mattress that is void if it is spilled on. I purchased this and a few weeks later, a significant amount of liquid was spilled, forming quite the puddle, directly on the bed sheets. By the time I realized it, I pulled the sheets off, certain the mattress must be ruined. The sheets and mattress protector were both drenched. The mattress was still perfect. I would also like to add that this mattress protector doesn't "sleep warm" as others do. I've had to return some in the past that made my husband wake up in a sweat throughout the night. It also doesn't make annoying rustling sounds or anything like that. It really is invisible protection. I'm planning to order more for the other beds in our house.
Amazing. I bought this months ago & came back to write a review. In the middle of washing my sheets there was an accident with some pink sunny D. I have yet to wash it yet but I cannot believe it did not sleep through to the bed one bit! Not even on the edge. So thankful I bought this now. It’s a one time purchase that will save you a hassle in the long run. Especially when you have a memory foam mattress.
We've had this on for about a week. When we first put it on, my husband decided to test it's "waterproofness" (his word) by pouring water on it. Yes. Actual water out of a bottle, right on the cover. Despite reviews and product description, I was wary of him doing so. However, it all turned out just fine, as the only wetness stayed on top of the mattress protector - and on his side. It did not go through, our mattress was not wet. YAY! So we go to bed. I was a little worried it might be crinkly or noisy, as some customers had reported. It didn't *feel* that way, but I could definitely tell there was a lining underneath. Thankfully my worry abated as soon as I crawled into bed. I couldn't tell at all! And I haven't noticed it on other nights either. I am definitely happy with this purchase so far. My only concern - and it's minor - is how the lining will hold up when I wash it. I'll be sure to follow the care instructions closely!
I would definitely recommend this product to others and intend to buy another - so that when I wash one I can just put the other directly on (like I do my sheets). :)
