Babycakes Mini Cake Pop Maker

Babycakes Mini Cake Pop Maker

Babycakes Mini Cake Pop Maker

SO glad I bought this versus making cake pops by hand. I was able to make over 100 cake pops in under 2.5 hours (non decorated of course). 2 tips to future users- use the recipes in the included booklet. There's less water and the consistency is PERFECT! And 2, use a ziplock bag with a corner cut out to fill the cake pop holes 3/4 way full for perfectly rounded pops!

First off, this mini cake pop maker is a life saver! I used to make cake pops the traditional way with crumbled cake and frosting, then followed by rolling them into balls but that whole process took far too much time so I decided to invest in this machine. With this machine I don't have to worry about the consistency of the cake pop and the frosting (when it's too moist the cake pop will break through the lollipop stick or it can sometimes break when you coat your chocolate due to the weight- very frustrating!).

The first time I used this machine, I used brownie mix and it turned out to be a disaster. The brownies would stick on the non sticking plate even though I rubbed/sprayed cooking spray on it every single time. The second time I used the cake mix box sold in stores and they came out to be perfect! Greasing the plates were not required because they popped right out and in perfect shape! When I poured too much cake batter into the maker, it'd overflow and leave extra cake scraps but it's easy to remove. Some of the balls had "Saturn" rings around it and I kept it that way without trimming the edges because it wasn't too visible and it kind of gave the cake pop a natural lollipop look to it. In the end I coated my cake balls with Wilton Candy Melts which can be purchased in Walmart, Michaels, or Joanns.

Pros:
Easy to use
Easy to clean
Makes the cake pops extremely fast! (3-5 minutes for a batch)

Cons:
Machine gets extremely hot so make sure to touch the handle for open and close access

Overall my experience with this machine was good. I wasn't too happy with this machine at first because my pops failed (with the brownie mix).. but practice makes perfect right? They came out perfect the second time (as shown in my pictures when I used cake mix) so don't be discourage if you fail the first few times because you need to get the hang of it first. It is recommended that you do test the machine to make sure it works properly and test your cake balls before you decide to make cake pops for any occasions.

I have held out learning how to make cake pops. I have never been that excited about them because when I want cake - I want cake! I thought I could create a treat table with pops and a cake and cupcakes. So, If I was going to learn cake pops, I need it to be as easy as it can be or I don't want to do it. So I read the reviews, watched the tutorials and decided on this cake pop maker. It came on time and was packaged well. I read the directions and decided to give it a try. I washed it first as is recommended. I just used a store bought cake mix and candy melts to cover the pops. The directions say to spray the maker before using it. I used Wilton cake spray. It worked great! The batter never stuck to the maker. The directions say to use 1/2 tablespoon of batter for each cavity. I did this and worked great. It also said to bake them for 3-5 minutes. Three minutes seemed to be perfect for my batter. The cake mix I used made six cupcakes and 65 cake pops. I loved that I did not have to heat up the oven and that the pops cooled while I was making more. I would recommend using this maker if you want to get into cake pops. It made the job easier and less guess work of how long to cook the pops. It does have to be hand washed. Now if only decorating the pops was just as easy....

I have only used it once, but was at it for over an hour, so I have a fair amount of experience! I used regular from a box cake mix. First batch, I tried to just "spoon" in the mixture. That was a disaster.... it just took too long, and the first ball or two rose too quickly, so when I closed the lid, it smeared everywhere. No worries - easy to clean up!! I poured the rest of the cake mix into a zip lock bag, and cut the corner, to have a more controlled pour. Filling moved quickly (just don't squeeze the bag too hard, or it'll pop open and you'll have a bigger mess on your hands).

As this was our first time, we just ate them as cake balls - no sticks, nothing iced/coated. They were delish!!! So not sure how they would hold up to being dipped in coating. Of course, I used regular boxed mix, so that stuff isn't made to be fully iced. There are a few recipes in the instruction booklet. I may try those later on.

I only gave this a 4 star, because the balls are small (think of a quarter, if it were a ball) and it was extremely time consuming, even "piping" the batter into the holes. 9 balls just isn't much at once. They do cook quickly - 4ish minutes each round. But that means you have to pay attention to them. I did it by myself, which was fine. But next time, I'll have a family member help. I can pipe in the batter - they can pop the balls out when done. Nothing stuck - it all came out clean. Even any spills or over-fills! I didn't have to spray it before use either. Not sure how that'll hold up for future uses.

Overall, I do recommend this, esp for those who don't want to do the "traditional" cake pops (which are way too sweet to me!!!). I think these would be cute for some themed desserts, such as spaghetti and meatballs or similar.

I would have given it 3 1/2 stars if possible. 1. It is not really worth the price, it only makes 9 at a time (of course knew this when I ordered it), it was not worth the cost to buy the one that makes 12 at a time, only 3 more. Nooo. I still wanted to give it a try. 2. It takes longer to fully preheat then the user manual or the light indicates. It took 14 minutes for about the first half a batch I made then about 6 mins for the second half of the batch. 3. I had to rotate the balls about half way through for even cooking (rotating is not in the user manual to do so, because it is unsafe, possibility to burn yourself. it is just what I chose to do). I will keep it, and I will still use it in the future when I don't have a time limit of how long I can stay in the kitchen to bake. It did work well for making gluten free muffin balls. I used a gluten free muffin recipe, also free of eggs, milk. Not a easy baking recipe for many cooking appliances or cooking surfaces.

I like this machine. The package arrived without any damages and looked brand new as it should. It comes with recipes but I haven't tried them yet. I did try it with boxed cake mix. I used 1/3 less water then recommended and I refrigerated the batter for at least 15 minutes before I started using it. I plugged in the machine as instructed and waited for the light to turn off and i put all the cake batter in a ziploc bag for quick dispensing. I filled each hole to the brim with the batter quickly and then closed it shut. At about 3.5/mins i unplugged the machine and let the cake sit in there for an additional 30 seconds and then quickly took them out. I left the machine unplugged until i refilled it each time and this kept the bottoms from burning before the tops cooked. It doesn't make perfect balls but then again i used boxed cake mix :) but it did the job. I would definitely recommend because you can use this machine for much more than just cake pops.

Perfect little cake pop maker! I just made little brownie bites (crispy on the outside, fudgy in the middle). The brownie batter is too dense to make it perfectly round like the cake batter, but they still look adorable and are absolutely delicious! It heats up quickly, is easy to clean and is nice and tiny to store. You can make more than just cake pops. I found some great recipes for bite sized apperizers online (pizza balls, corn dog bites, cheesy bread balls, baby quiche, blueberry pancake bites...so many possibilities! Highly recommend, will be purchasing the larger one asap! Holidays are coming up, you must get this machine, it's made me smile all week.:))

My 18-year-old daughter has been into baking cupcakes, cake pops, and cakes for family friends birthdays. My one friend wanted a beach themed cake pops and my daughter had never made cake pops before so we did some research reading amazon reviews and found this cake pop maker that was affordable with good reviews. The cake pops turned out perfect; great shape and color to them. Does not make a lot of cake pops at once, but since it was easy to do we just made multiple batches and every cake pop turned out the same. Would recommend this product.

I love this thing, so far I have made pizza balls, bacon balls, taco balls, cinnamon roles, cake, muffins, pancake bites, corn dog bites, biscuits, cornbread, zucchini bread, and I heated up leftovers like Mac ' cheese for mac n' cheese balls and now food doesn't go to waste because my kids actually like leftovers. I tried making eggs in it but they were the wrong texture and tasted horrible, but this thing has helped me to cut down on air conditioner and electrical bill costs because it does not require as much wattage as the oven and it does not heat up the whole house the way that my oven can. I am disappointed that the balls are smaller than I imagined they would be but if they were any bigger they would take more than 5 min to make.

I sampled a couple cake pops before I added them to my son’s galaxy cake... they tasted amazing. And the cake pops made it possible for me to decorate the inside of his cake with a galaxy. The cake was a huge hit! It wouldn’t have been possible without the cake pop maker. It functioned exactly as the manual said, and was very easy to use. Everything was perfect!
