Original Flonase is well-documented here and elsewhere and is well respected. My allergist specifically recommended it, saying not to waste time with anything else. There are a couple of things about it that may not be common knowledge. One is that, unlike most similar products, it actually stops allergens from entering the nasal passage rather than just deal with them after the fact. That is supposedly what makes it so effective. The other thing to know is that because of how it works it can take up to 3 months for the body to realize its full effectiveness. Based on these facts and my own personal success with using the product I believe it earns 5-stars.
But what if it was better? What if it didn’t get the inside of your nose so wet? What if it didn’t have that scent? What if you didn’t have to stick that nozzle so deep into your nose and pump so hard?
The same allergist introduced me to the new Sensimist version recently as an improved version. It apparently has all of the same benefits but is scent-free and sprays a fine no-drip mist from a shorter nozzle.
I’ve compared the two and agree that it is an improvement, with the addition of a rounder more portable bottle that doesn’t leak in a pocket or purse.
[NEW INFORMATION] since I posted this I've talked to a top allergist who advised me that I was spraying the product wrong. The proper way is to spray against the outside walls of the nasal cavity, not directly into the cavity. She also gave me a tip about how to know how much is left in the bottle. Rather than tear the label off (which she discouraged in case there is a recall or adverse reaction) she said to simply hold the bottle horizontally with the green cover removed and the tip pointing at a window or bright light. You will be able to easily see the pump tube and know which way to hold it to get the most use out of the contents.
I had almost given up on finding a product that would help relieve my husband's terribly allergies. We live in the country so every allergy season is bad, but this year was much worse than normal and it seemed as if no medication could possibly help him. It was so bad for him he could barely breathe and almost could not work. My mother-in-law recommended this product as another of her sons has terrible allergies and this worked for him. As stated this product needs time to build up in the system before it can do very much, but once it takes effect, it has very good results.
My husband went from barely being able to function (on his normal prescribed "maximum strength" allergy medications) to perfectly normal and healthy right in the middle of haying season only using Flonase.
In the past my husband and I have had multiple disappointments with supposed "miracle" allergy medications while trying to find something that worked for him, but this one has finally provided consistent relief that we did not think was possible.
During the day, I don't have many problems with nasal congestion. My nasal congestion seems to begin almost every morning around 4 AM. Within 15 minutes, I am completely stopped up to the point that it is impossible to get any more sleep. So I will either just get up a few hours earlier than I would normally do and just be tired for the rest of the day or I use a product like Afrin which has always worked great for me and will allow me to go back to bed and get my normal 8 hours sleep. The problem arises if I have to use Afrin for more than a couple of days, the "rebound effect" will kick in and will make the congestion worse. With Flonase, there is no "rebound effect" so there is a definite advantage to use it if it works for you. For me Flonase is about 50% as affective in relieving my congestion as products like Afrin but with the advantage of being able to use daily with no "rebound effect". When getting a really good nights sleep, I will still go to a product like Afrin. So my strategy is to use Flonase as much as possible but still keep Afrin around for when I really need some big relief.
This year's seasonal allergy was rough for me. Violent sneezing and sore/infected sinuses are a bad combination. My fall back allergy medicine, benadryl, was just too rough to handle this year. Allegra was a fail in previous years. So I decided to try Claritin again. I'd give it a C: I got some relief (most clear breathing) for about four hours after taking it--no where close to the 24 hour promised. My Dr. recommended Flonase. Amazon had the best price. Two days later, my life changed, lol. Good stuff. I now don't need to take it every day, but it's a great option to have.
I have really bad allergies and this is the only medicine that works.

My doctor recommended this to help with my sinus infections that occur like clockwork twice per year. I ordered this from Amazon because it was a little cheaper than my local drug store. Came packaged in a way that I knew it was official and trustworthy. Would order again. Hopefully this will help keep my seasonal allergies and sinus infections at bay.
I never had allergies until I moved to California. They were bad for a couple years, then they seemed to go away. Little did I realize that was only because we were in a drought. Now, after this year's epic rains, the plants are ecstatic and having an orgy in the air. My allergies were so bad I was planning on moving away, anywhere, despite the fact that I otherwise love it here. Complete and constant misery. I tried all the major allergy brands and they all provided some relief, but absolutely nothing compared to this stuff. Almost 100% better after just a couple of days. So pleased! Try it!
I don't always know what is causing my allergies to flare, but this year has been worse than most for me. I haven't used Flonase in the past except once, but I came back to it after trying a bunch of other things that didn't work. Thankfully, Flonase did. I used it for several weeks and over that time, my symptoms all but disappeared. I did not experience any negative side effects.
Yeah...I know...its aggravating. This stuff does work and there are a couple other trade name products with the same active indignant. I guy this one since it comes in a larger size. There is another similar product with an additional additive that is prescription only and it works great but it cost about 4-5 times what this does, no generic. Anyway this works for me as I have some type of allergy that impacts my breathing at night.
Ive struggled finding something what actually worked for me and I finally found this spray! Ive made it part of my morning routine to do a spray in each nostril. There is a loading dose which means for the first week you have to do 2 sprays in each nostril then after that is just once spray in each nostril every day. Hold your head back for a couple minutes to avoid the taste going to the back of your throat but even if it does its still not a very unpleasant taste. 10/10 recommend!
