Holmes HAPF624RUC 12" Oscillating Floor Fan w/Remote, Breeze Modes, 8hr Timer

Holmes HAPF624RUC 12" Oscillating Floor Fan w/Remote, Breeze Modes, 8hr Timer

Holmes HAPF624RUC 12

It's bigger than I anticipated, but I have room for it. About 16" wide at widest part and 18" tall including handle. I was skeptical that it would be efficient because it doesn't oscillate like other fans I've had. I turned on the fan at the lowest setting and it was alright, but once I turned on the fan rotation, my mind was blown. It rotates counterclockwise at a reasonable pace, and the curved/slanted slats on the outside actually move air around the room, not just blowing it in one direction. Also, you don't have to worry about it not being adjustable; the slats also help air move up/down. This is on my floor and I can feel it from my bed about 8 feet away and 30" off the ground.
I'm also pretty picky about fans in general, because I use them for noise and cooling, especially while I'm sleeping. The lowest setting is quiet and steady, but not silent. Perfect to help me sleep. Haven't tried the higher settings because it's still cold out, but I'll try to update this once summer rolls around. The remote is also a nice touch, but it doesn't come with batteries. Two AAA batteries are all it needs. Even better if I get too cool/too hot in bed (not ashamed to admit I wouldn't feel like getting up while I'm trying to sleep or nap).

I've been using this fan all summer in my bedroom, in conjunction with the window a/c unit during the day, or solo at night. Honestly, I only have a single complaint. Unlike most appliances with remote controls, I actually use this one. It's nice to be able to make changes without getting out of bed. But, the buttons don't light up. So, you have to rely on tactile memory, chance, or turning on a light, to make an adjustment. I usually use my phone to see the remote's buttons. The fan has been reliable, it's quiet, easy to clean, and really cools the air, not just move warm air around. Oftentimes, I get too cold and have to turn it down, or oscillate it. That's not a complaint...it's wonderful---that's what I want my fan to do! $40 bucks may seem high, but you get what you pay for. This fan is worth the price.
**Update 07/18**
This fan is still going strong. Cleaning it was easy. I actually came back to order another one, but they are either out of stock or no longer in production, which would be a crying shame. I lucked out and was able to get a used like new from Amazon warehouse deals for 1/2 the price. I recommend buying fans during November through February. They are priced lower and easier to find in stock.

**UPDATE**
My family loved this fan so much that I bought 5 more. One for myself, my boyfriend, brother, sister, and the living room. Definitely worth it! My dad’s is still going strong with no issues. 110% recommend this fan.

This fan is AMAZING. I got this as a birthday gift to my dad because his table fan in his room is old. It's super loud and makes this mechanical noise, so it's not good if you're trying to sleep. I saw this and decided to give it a try! I thought the remote control was a nice touch because I've laid down in bed before and have gotten all nice and comfortable when I realize I forgot to turn my fan on that's across the room. This fan is super powerful and relatively quiet. It's highest setting was as loud as the first setting on my dad's old fan. He absolutely loves this thing and has used it every night since mid July. No problems so far! I wish the remote had a back-light for the buttons though for those times you need to change the setting in the dark. But that is my only complaint. If this still holds up well, we are going to order a few more for the house!
Oh, just a heads up. This sucker is big. I though the whole unit was 12 inches. NOPE! The diameter of the blade housing is 12 inches. If I remember correctly, the actual height came out to 19 inches and going across is about 14/15 inches. Just keep that in mind when buying it! I did not realize that when I bought it, but it still fit on his counter. It moves a lot more air around the room so the size turned out to be perfect. My dad just started using the osculating feature and loves it. It even has a timer on there!

I have really long hair, and trying to blow-dry my hair in the summer (even with air conditioning) can be a problem; the dryer produces a ton of heat, and I can't open the windows, nor can I blast the AC down to 58 degrees, and so I end up either not fully drying my hair (I look like hell) or I turn into a disgusting ball of sweat (also not very appealing).

For the last few years I've been looking for a fan that was powerful enough to help me fix this problem, but also didn't turn my bathroom into a wind tunnel of doom. I wasn't successful until I tried out this little thing; it's quite lightweight and it's relatively small, so I can stick it on my bathroom counter and get a cool breeze while I dry my hair. It has an oscillating feature that really helps, and the remote control is a nice touch.

The best part though is that it has a little compartment for the cord; it's not hanging everywhere and I can easily stow it away under my sink.

I ordered this fan based on the ratings but without really reading about it. WOW. I feel silly for being this excited about a fan but this thing rocks!
1) calming sound, totally opposite of the squeaky fan it replaced
2) It's mechanism of "oscillating" seems almost magical. It doesn't physically rotate side-to-side, it uses a revolving airflow guide. I've never seen anything like it. Watch the video.
3) intuitive remote
4) small compartment in the back so I can tuck away extra cord -- it's the little things

If you need a new fan, this is the one to buy.

Fan was a bit larger than expected, a bit noisier at the lowest settings than expected, and the blowing force a bit more than expected...This is not a horrible thing but I had to aim it carefully. Still *just* quiet enough that on the low settings it can be good white noise in the bedroom without being/sounding like a wind tunnel.

Would still recommend, but if you want quieter, or a softer wind, you might go for a smaller option.

I'd highly recommend this. My favorite feature is the simple turnoff timer. I usually set it for an hour before going to sleep at night. Air rotation across room is perfect due to the front rotating grill and adjustable speed settings. Also, though some people might find the simulation of random breeze feature weird but i loved it. Sits perfectly on my window. Couldn't be any better.

Just received this fan today and am impressed by all the features. 2 speeds that vary to mimic actual wind (don't know what the difference between the two settings are quite yet though), a holder for the remote on the back, and hidden storage compartment for the cord. Since it doesn't oscillate as far right & left as expected, it's probably not the best fan for a larger room but my room is moderately sized so I think it'll work perfectly fine. The handle is convenient and I really appreciate the numerous timer settings - many fans of this size/in this price range have only one timer setting, usually 4 or 8 hours, which isn't ideal.

Will update if it falls apart in the coming months or is too loud at night, but so far very satisfied.

This is a great fan. I have three. 2 in my living room and one in my bedroom which I am in a lot. I don't use it at night because I have actually 4 other fans in my room. I have to have air. but I don't like leaving my big a\/c on at night. so these work great. I like everything about them. I like the fgac they are thin and not fat. I wish they would make a smaller one as well just like this. I like too you can use the fan with our without the rotating grill. Its just a great fan and helps circulate the air really great. Except on humid days. lol but nothing works on humid days except an a/c. but I would buy this again for sure. It was definitely worth the money. I find that it seems to work better on the floor than up on a dresser or table. I do however have it on a plastic computer stand about 12 inches from the ground. so, it kind of blows on me from across the room.

At a glance,

Pros:
1. Lightweight
2. Remote control! How awesome is it to have a remote control fan?
3. Extremely powerful for its size. When I put the speed setting to 3 its like a hurricane wind blasting through my apartment.

Cons:
1. Wobbly, this thing can easily tip over. While its light and that means no broken toes, if you have a dog or a child expect this to be put on its back a lot.
2. Not extremely silent. Speed setting at 1 isn't bad, but at 3 it's pretty loud.

EDIT: So, this guy gets quite loud after some use. Oiling the bearings can reduce the rickety noise of the spinning direction grate. Though even with that, if this fan is placed on an uneven surface on anything but the 1 power setting it'll tip over or rock back and forth loudly. If you put this on a linoleum surface on the 3 power setting the fan will push itself across the floor. So, what is a person to do when they like a product but the few flaws it has prevent it from being truly acceptable? You improvise. If you want this fan to be stable, not to rock back and forth, and to be even more silent than usual, buy a few heavy steel ball bearings from amazon, my suggestion would be three 1-1/2 inch size bearings. Place these in the small compartment that the power cable can be stored in, and voila, the fan will not move, shake, rock, or vibrate loudly. If you're a techy you could even unscrew the casing and put bearings in the opposite side, knowing they that space is probably hollow too.
