YETI Rambler 14 oz Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug with Lid, Black

YETI Rambler 14 oz Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug with Lid, Black

YETI Rambler 14 oz Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug with Lid, Black

My story may be a little different than most. I am a person with a disability and it's progressive so as I've aged I've lost strength and control in my hands and arms. It occurred to me recently, after some near misses, that an open mug of hot tea was becoming increasingly dangerous. We have Grande sized travel mugs that my hubby uses to make me a latte sometimes but for my middle of the night tea breaks I like to use our ancient Hot Shot and make my own. Problem is the receptacle height of the Hot Shot maxes out at 4.5" which will not accommodate most lidded commuter mugs. After reviewing all options out there I went with my YETI although the price was more than I intended. I AM SO HAPPY I DID! This thing is nearly perfect:
Sturdy as heck.
14oz rather than 12 because of it width.
The lid is secure but not too hard to put on.
The handle is big enough for my larger lady hands.
The lid slopes down towards the opening so extra liquid runs back in at the end of your sip.
The visual design is gorgeous and flawless.
Dishwasher safe!
5 year warranty but I know this thing will outlast me!
Beverage stays warm for HOURS so I can ditch my desktop coffee warmer.
My only teeny complaints are you have to be careful as you tip to drink as more will rush out than desired if you tip too quickly or far. I did burn my upper lip a bit before getting my technique down but that's on me. And it's a little heavy but overall I LOVE THIS THING! It is not spillPROOF but I am now safe from scalding sloshes. YAY YETI!

I have a toddler and she keeps me very busy so I kept coming back to cold coffee. It was getting really old so I started putting it in my 30 oz Yeti Rambler. It worked great but I really prefer a mug. I was so excited to come across this! It’s perfect. I actually have to leave the lid off for a bit so it can cool down enough to drink! If I get up and won’t be able to come back and drink it for awhile I just put the lid on and it stays warm till I get back to it. Definitely recommend for toddler mamas!

Beautiful product. Keeps my coffee hot for longer and cold drink cool. With other cups my coffee would get cool within 10 minutes. With this baby it' still warm after half a hour, and that's with the lid it came with, which is with a fixed hole and cannot be closed. I have a feeling that it'd stay hot/cool for much longer with the magslider lid. Must get for people who tend to let their drink sit there for extended period of time while focusing on work.

Edit: 12/13/2017
2 hours with the included lid, filled with coffee from k-cup machine, still warm and going strong!!!

I am really really really happy with this mug! I have several Hydroflasks in all sizes and styles for hot and cold. None of them are exactly right, most are too heavy, lids leack, they don't fit in car cup holders, etc etc. Their coffee mug burned my mouth (I stopped using it after a second burn). Their patented "honey comb" lid insulation truly traps hot steam. Their other coffee thermos are off too. All of them are now retired in my kitchen cupboards. Sigh. I ONLY use my 20 oz and my new 14 oz Yeti coffee mugs now. My newly purchased 14oz mug is quite functional. I pour my morning coffee in it, and even though the lid has an open sip area, the coffee stays wonderfully hot for over an hour without scorching my poor mouth!!!! I truly love this mug and highly recommend it :)

Pros: perfect size for my daily cup of tea in the morning, color is great, sturdy, well insulated, big enough for soup or oatmeal

Cons: doesn’t fit in my cup holder :( I don’t think it will fit in any standard cup holder because of the shape. I’ve been holding it and sipping on my tea during my commute to work, there is a little flat space between my cup holder and my gear shift with a divet that I can place it down on for a moment or two but i wouldn’t trust it for too long, I don’t want it to go flying!

Overall I recommend this product, just be aware of the challenges it poses if you like to drink your caffeine in the car on your way to work like I do!

Love the color and function of this Yeti 14 oz mug with handle Pronghorn Outfitters delivered super quickly even though it was not on Prime shipping.

Wow, what a great product. I’ve transitioned from a regular coffee cup to this. I was always reheating my coffee but no longer. This mug keeps my coffee hot for a minimum of 2 hours. Allowing me to get a few things done around the house, while i enjoy my coffee here and there.

It does keep things hot or cold. The only thing is that I didn’t like drinking from it as the ledge is too thick and I don’t like drinking with the lid on it.

Like the product, does its job of keeping coffee hot longer than your average mug (about 1.5 hours). Wish it came with magnaslider lid and didn’t have to buy one separately. But for reference the 30 oz. tumber lid does fit it. It’s a little bit of a bulky mug with an awkward handle, but I’m happy with it

Well, from the name of this product, you’d really think it’s a monster, but this mug is almost regular-sized. Just a little bit squat. Or should I say Sas-squat? :)

This will be a long review, so you may as well get yourself a cuppa.

"Double-wall vacuum insulation keeps cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot until the last sip" is how the product is described, and it doesn't fully live up to that promise. Still, I think this mug is worth buying.

The first time I used this mug, my coffee stayed hot for about twenty minutes, warm for another fifteen or so, and just tepid thereafter. I’m not sure why other reviewers say their coffee stays warm for hours, but perhaps they ordered the separate lid that closes completely. The one that came with this mug is the kind that is just an open slit, so it’s not as effective at keeping heat in.

The tiny tab makes it slightly difficult to pull off the lid, and there is a vacuum seal, so if you do it with a full cup of coffee or tea, set it down on a hard surface for leverage so it doesn’t spill on you. Since the sides are smooth, there’s no traction for your hands.

The second time I used it, I ran the empty mug and lid under hot water before adding my heated coffee to it and it did stay warmer, longer. No matter what, though, with this model, the heat will dissipate through the slit opening. By the third try, I ran the mug and lid under hot water, put the heated coffee in, and also put a make-shift covering over the slit opening. It helped somewhat, but I still needed to re-heat after an hour or so. The covering I used was a napkin, weighted down by a round fridge magnet.

Despite its shortcomings, I’m still a believer. It does save me from having to re-heat in the microwave as often. I’m a slow sipper, and since I add creamer to my coffee, I’ll inevitably end up with that dreaded layer of burnt-creamer film across the top of it which has to be scooped off. This is a nice, solid mug and the handle is comfortable enough, although it’s not padded. It’s not spill-proof due to the slit opening, so I wouldn’t recommend taking it with you in your car. Also, I doubt the wider bottom would fit into any standard cup holder.

Another minor issue is that condensation forms underneath the lid which may dilute your coffee.

In closing, I do recommend this mug, but if it’s imperative that your cuppa stay piping hot, consider the magnetic slider lid version. Told you this would be a long review! Thanks for listening.

PS Just a reminder not to put this mug into the microwave, as its inside is made of stainless steel. It’s easy to forget that it’s not microwave-safe, since the outside is a seafoam color with just a hint of silver across the top, making it look like a regular mug. The reminder not to put it into the microwave is on the inside of the label in small print, so you may miss it.

Update on 2-7-19
I'm not as bullish on this mug after using it for almost a month due to the difficulty of opening the mug once condensation from coffee steam forms a vacuum seal. I'm not sure keeping your coffee slightly warmer for a little bit longer is worth the hassle of having to fight with your mug to get it open. Coffee break or tea time is supposed to be peaceful!
