I have one of the deluxe Drive walkers with 7 inch wheels that is very good for extended walks in open areas, but is virtually useless in the close quarters of my home, so I ordered this walker from Amazon two days ago, and it arrived this morning. Fast service. It was well packaged and very light, and expanded easily when removed from the packaging and the restraining bands removed.
I had read the reviews and following the advice of other purchasers I snapped the front wheels on in a way to keep them inside the legs. A smart move, and the rear leg extensions snapped into place easily. For my height I used the fourth button hole on all four leg extensions, and that is a comfortable height for me. I found that this walker goes easily through all the doors in my home.'
The rear leg gliders do tend to drag some on carpet and outside so I have ordered a pair of the "ski" type gliders to place on the rear legs. They are sold by Amazon, and I expect to receive them soon. Judging from the pictures they should slide up over rugs without snagging them. This walker has proven to be exactly what I need, is sturdy and folds and opens easily. It comes at a great price, and I would happily recommend it to anyone who needs this kind of support. I am 90 years old and a little unsteady on my feet, and have fallen a few times. This unit gives me great support and confidence so far, and I have nothing but good things to say about it.
Edited a few days later to add that the ski gliders are exactly what I wanted. The hardest part of putting them on the rear legs was getting the original gliders out, but once that was accomplished the shi gliders went in easily and I used a Philips head screwdriver to tighten them in place with the adjustment screw on the bottom of each glider. They slide up over carpet edges perfectly. A great buy.
Such a sturdy and light weight walker. I've used this for a month now. It is easy for me to fold it up, put in the car myself and get into the car. The only challenge was when I bought skis and tennis balls to put on the bottom after seeing it recommended on Amazon to buy this together. This is so it glides along better. I couldn't get the bottoms off. A few people said they had to cut them off, sounds like a bad idea. Or they took it apart and pushed a rod through the hole and pushed it out. This is why I gave it 4 stars. It shouldn't be this difficult. Especially since I bought the recommended Drive products to go with this.
I purchased the walker for a relative but told them that when they were through with it, I would buy it back from them. The walker was easy to put together. I tested it out on carpet and linoleum flooring and it was a breeze to use. To fold up the walker, I found that the release levers were easy to push down but if you have limited use or strength in your hands, it might be more troublesome for you. The back legs have a smooth rounded surface, so the need for tennis balls that you often see on walkers are not needed. Now, I might consider them if walking over wood flooring, just to be on the safe side as I would hate to scratch it.
Here’s my personal experience setting up and using the Drive Medical deluxe two button folding walker that I just got from Amazon. And I’ve included my own pictures too, to show you what I’m talking about.
First, I liked that this Drive Medical folding walker came in flat box that was only 4” deep, which made it really easy to lift, carry up steps and into the house.
It was also easy to open the box and slide out the walker. The walker is folded flat, out of the box, and the front wheels and back leg extensions are separated into plastic bags.
Putting the legs on this Drive Medical walker was much easier than I thought. And I really love that I put the whole walker together without any tools! You just slide on the front legs (with wheels), and back legs, onto the existing walker legs. And you can adjust this walkers height by aligning the holes in the leg extensions with the locking button on each of the existing walker legs.
Really, it was very easy to attach all 4 legs and adjust it to my height. As you can see, I’m pretty short, so I set my walker legs to the #2 position.
Now, I gotta say, I was worried about how this walker would fit through my doorways & hallways. A few of my hallways are narrow and I was worried that this walker would be just too wide. BUT, here’s a very helpful solution I really want to share because I think it can help a lot of people: when I was reading reviews of different walkers, I found a great tip on [...] that showed me how to reduce the width of my walker by just switching the wheels!
It’s a really EASY fix: just take the front left & right legs, with wheels, and reverse them. And you’ll see that your wheels are now sitting inside the frame of the walker. Not on the outside. By switching the position of the front wheels, I cut down my walker width by almost 4”! And now my hallways are not a problem. I found this easy fix on [...]
I tried out the push button release, at the top of the walker, to unfold the two sides. I was happy to see that the red release button was easy to press down. I have a little neuropathy (numbness) in my fingers, so I have to avoid buttons or levers that are hard to press down. But I didn’t have any problems using the red release button on this walker to fold & unfold it.
This Drive Medical Walker is light, but it still feels very sturdy to me. The 5” wheels roll smoothly and I don’t see that the wheels have made any marks on my floors. (That’s important to me.)
The hand grips on this walker are cushioned and I think anyone would like the way they feel. I’m going to try this walker for a while, and if the neuropathy in my fingers flares up, I can just get inexpensive, even more cushy walker handgrips covers to help.
All in all, I really love this foldable walker and I would recommend it to any friend of mine. I guess, the only thing that I think could be improved would be to clearly mark the legs with wheels to show that they should be put on the front of the walker. When I first put on all the legs, I put the wheels on the back. Wrong. It was my mistake, I know, and I could easily fix it, but I think the directions/packaging could have been a little bit clearer.
All in all, I think this walker is a winner. In my opinion, it’s a great mix of quality & price.
My PT recommended a walker as safer than crutches, and I found these most helpful after foot surgery, when I couldn't put weight on my foot for 6 weeks. The 5" wheels definitely make this walker move better, especially over carpeting, than older versions with smaller wheels. (However, the smaller wheeled ones I borrowed felt safer going down the wooden ramps I had to have built for the two 8" steps to my house.) I found that this 5" walker was a little narrower than the borrowed one, which made it easier getting through my narrow bathroom.
When you have only one foot you can use, it's very painful to hop around on one foot and the walker. So I also bought a knee scooter and found it most helpful both inside and outside the house for longer distances. But the walker helped me get into narrower areas of my house that I couldn't with the knee scooter, which has a wide turning radius, so it was good I bought both.

I am really happy with this walker. It is very lightweight and easy to fold so that I could put it in my van right behind the drivers seat. I broke my ankle about 4 weeks ago, and it saved me from killing myself using crouches. I am 67 and was not doing well on the crutches, so this was my life saver. I did have to tape some foam pieces on the handles since they are not as soft as I needed them to be. I used the foam that you wrap outdoor pipes for winterizing, and it works real nice.
Hi, I bought this Deluxe Two Button Folding Walker by Drive Medical, some walkers are hard to open and close,maybe because there old? But this walker like any walker takes time to getting used too, and the height adjuster is great for short to tall people. The two buttons are like pushing the walker, once you try it out a few times ,you get it and feel comfortable with it,! I have bought a few products from Drive Medical and they are very good quality ! Thanks K.Red
Seriously much cheaper than all of the local places I looked, and it is the exact product.
Lightweight and portable, folds easily, and a lot of people ask this but you can actually move the wheels to the opposite side and make it slimmer so it fits through doorways easier.
I recently had hip replacement and bought this as a second walker for indoors since the one they gave me at the hospital was getting worn out walking around outdoors. Strongly recommend.
It's hard as you get older to know what things will make life easier. I've got most of the aches and pains older people are heir to, but when I started using this walker, my aches and pains seemed to disappear! Not hyperbole, they literally seemed to disappear. It's a good product and I'm happy I finally took the plunge. And it was easy to put together!
Very nice! Lightweight, not overly bulky. Easy for my husband to maneuver. Fits well through doors, etc. Very easy to assemble, height adjusts easily. Wide range of height selection available. (Husband 6"1", not even on very top height available!)
