Honeywell HT-908 Turbo Force Room Air Circulator Fan Black 15 Inch

Honeywell HT-908 Turbo Force Room Air Circulator Fan Black 15 Inch

Honeywell HT-908 Turbo Force Room Air Circulator Fan Black 15 Inch

It literally just got here about twenty minutes ago. I've already found my likes and dislikes about it. I've owned quite a few fans in the kat decade since my room used to be the garage, and just got renovated into a bedroom, but never got fitted with an A/C vent.

Pros:
~It's ridiculously quiet!
You get that classic white noise that you'd get from a fan, only it moves a lot of air for such a quiet motor. On the lowest setting, is almost unnoticeable. You can easily forget that it's on.

~It's the size makes it versatile (check pictures to understand)
I really chose to buy this fan after seeing a picture of somebody drilling it to a drywall to cool their XBOX. I figured I'd do the same next to a window in order to get a cool breeze blowing into my room. What I discovered was even better! I was roasted the fan all the way up, and out the base of the fan at the bottom of my window. I slid the window down to pinch the base, and BOOM! Instant window-mounted fan! I literally dropped everything and came to write this review immediately! I'm so pumped because I was planning on getting a window fan since my walls are solid concrete, this is perfect! No time spent borrowing a drill!
I've got a nightstand stacked on another nightstand next to my bed. It serves as a four-drawer, waist-high nightstand that way. My previous fan was table fan that was small enough to fit in one of the drawers, right next to my head, angled at my body as I sleep. This new fan isn't small enough to fit when sitting on its base, but rotate the fan completely horizontal, and turn it on its side, and it lays in the drawer perfectly angled at my bed to cool me and my bed at night!

~The color/design is subtle
It pretty much blends in anywhere I put it. My room is blue, with black furniture and a neutral cream mosaic tile. The matte black of the fan makes it a perfect accessory to any article of furniture in the room, and blends in well when I attach it to the window the way I explained.

Cons:
~The fan ajustement
It can't be rotated 180 degrees from one direction to the other. It stops at 90 degrees. Honestly, it's not that big a deal. It only caught off guard as I expected it to go all the way over, but it's easily solved by simply turning the fan the other way lol.

Final: as for durability and lifespan, I'll have to update you with any details as things progress. I'll try to update when it starts to get dirty, and how easy or difficult it is to clean/maintain.

What a great fan this is. FINALLY, I have a fan that on the lowest setting won't keep me awake. This "little" fan moves VOLUMES of air, and when the temperature gets above 75, I have to have moving air to help me sleep. This is the PERFECT FAN, neither too big nor too weak, as it is positionable right where you need it. Right now it is on at speed 1, and from here (10 feet away), it sounds like tires on a distant freeway or a gentle rushing river some n.n yards away. Perfect. This will also help with my insomnia as the gentle rushing sounds are at about the same frequency as "highway hypnosis", calmly to help usher me to sleep. On hotter days I have two more speeds, but I always use the lowest setting, and the product description is RIGHT ON, very quiet ("30% quieter than before").

Great name, great product, indispensable in the summer, and more powerful than it looks. Forget the bulky, non-adjustable box fan that sounds like a seaplane taking off. Buy it.

I've had it for two months so far, and I totally love this fan. It really cools off the entire room, and if I sit in front of it for too long, I get the chills (even when it's 90 degrees out!). Perfect for an apartment that doesn't have an AC unit.

Update: it's over a year later, and this fan is FANTASTIC! I seriously cannot be enthusiastic enough about it. It works amazingly well and is still going strong. It is also not very loud (and anyway, I find the white noise of it relatively soothing). I very, VERY strongly recommend it.

This fan is not the same fan of years ago. It appears to be made cheaper and that is why it cost less than a few years ago. The plastic seems ridged and it does not blow as hard as I expected. I do not expect it to last a long time. You get what you pay for. It was intended to be a carry along fan. It makes the grade as such. Cheap, light weight for easy transport, blows air ok, and when it breaks I will not shed a tear. Where this fan will go I would not take the chance of damaging my Vornado Fans. So I give it 5 stars because it meets my needs for a cheap fan I don't care about. A cheap and easily portable fan that goes into the trash if it breaks down in a short period of time. Nothing to be proud of or concerned with. Just use it.

Update: After approximately 4 months of very little use it stopped working. I got what I paid for ha ha ha. It actually exceeded my expectations of when it would stop working. I expected it to last 12 month of regular use. I never expected it to stop after 4 months of very little use.

This fan is a little giant! It is quiet enough to operate at night in the bedroom. The white noise is actually helpful for sleep.

It has three fan speeds. I find the speed jumps significantly. The fan speed differs greatly and is worthy of a smooth analog control (doesn't have it). Since I'm using it about 7-8 feet away, it means I need to adjust the distance by 2-3 feet. At this distance, with the temperature in the upper 70's, the lowest setting is plenty. I have cranked it to the top speed when the heat started to approach 100. Even at this distance, it still feels like a tube of moving air. It hasn't started to break apart yet.

The tilt is also discrete, it doesn't have a smooth transition in the angle. This is good/bad. All my fans with infinite adjust wore out the adjust first because I change the angle so frequently.

The base is incredibly sturdy and sits securely on my 4.25" windowsill. I care a lot because I'm seated directly under this window. Sturdy. Secure.

Cleaning the grill is fairly easy. Use a damp wipe and the dust comes off easily. If you're into cleaning every nook, you have to mold your wipe into an point to get all the grill. However, I suffer from the need to clean my fan blades. You can only get in there will a small sponge on a stick. Very small. So, the dust on the blades are sticking their little dusty tongues out at me daring me. Humph.

This fan has displaced my little 8' personal favorite which just doesn't move enough eir even if you're 3-4 ft away when it gets hot.

This is a good fan in the under $30 class. It's quiet, it moves a decent amount of air, and while it's not going to win any beauty pageants, it's compact enough to not be a hideous eyesore.

NOISE: it's a gentle hum, not an annoying rattle. I only had to increase the TV volume by one level. It's not Dyson-quiet, but then again, who has $300-500 lying around? Not me. So this is a good compromise. Some people might even appreciate the white noise.

AIR: if you're like me, and have been suffering for years with a crappily underpowered "tower" fan, do yourself a favor and get one of these, because it feels like it's about double the output. I fully admit that my cruddy Holmes tower fan was purchased in desperation from a grocery store a decade ago, in part because I thought a tower would be less hideous to look at. However, it was rickety and anemic from the get-go, and never really delivered significant air movement. In comparison, you can actually feel the air moving with this fan. It won't be enough to significantly cool a large room, but it could make a small room or living area more tolerable.

LOOKS: Well...everything looks ugly when you compare it to a Dyson. At least it has a wide, stable base, and despite the fact that it takes up an annoying floor footprint, it's not nearly as hideous or bulky as say, an industrial carpet-drying fan. For under-$30, it's about as good-looking as you can get.

Perfect, just what I needed. I actually bought the smaller version of this fan, and it's been on consistently (for the better part of a year) in my garage. I have it to keep it cool in there, because while it is close to finished, it was never fitted with any AC, so it gets stuffy. Seeing how great the little fan does, I bought the bigger size for inside my house because in the room where I and my boyfriend both have our computers, it gets very hot if we are both playing games. So far, the fan is helping significantly to keep the room cooler. My dogs are also enjoying the nice breeze. If you need a fan, this one will not disappoint!

This is the larger model of the fan I bought a few years ago. I ran that one almost all year round, either as a fan in the summer or in the winter as an air circulator. It lasted about three years running nearly 24-7. This one looks to be a bigger model and the only thing I don't like is that the base is a little awkward, but I think it's just because it is bigger. It also doesn't seem to have the same velocity as the one I had before, despite being bigger. I do have a new model of the smaller fan, and it also doesn't seem to have the same velocity. I don't know if I'm just remembering incorrectly or if it is a change to the motor itself. I do know that it's not a big enough issue to not recommend it! It's sturdy and works great and moves a lot of air!

This little fan is great. Small stuffy apartment, no AC, have been running two of these almost 24/7 for over a month and they work great. You can feel the airflow all the way across the room! Quieter than I expected, definitely does not impede conversation or anything. One of my favorite home purchases, as our quality of life has improved a lot since we started running these.

Update: Have been running these for over a year now pretty much continuously and they still work! Also used packaging tape to secure a HEPA filter to them when the air quality in our area became really terrible and they measurably cleared up the indoor air quality.

This simple review is for the HT-908, which is the 15 inch version with 10 inch blades.
This is exactly what I was looking for, which is a fan to place under my desk at my work because my coworkers all think 76 degrees Fahrenheit is cold and turn the thermostat up to 78 (the highest it is set to go by our HR department).
I had the smaller HT-900 in the past, several of them, but the one I had at my office was the oldest. Although it still works, it is now well over 6 years old and is noisy. It wasn't always noisy, but even brand new it was more noisy than my new HT-908.
The HT-908 is a great mid-size floor fan that does a good job moving a fair amount of air, and it does it quietly. I use it on low because it is right next to me under my desk blowing upward, and if it were not for the nice breeze it is quiet enough that I might not know it is even on.
The only thing I could wish for, which does not affect my office use, is that the fan could be point downward instead of only horizontal thru upward vertical. I'm hoping this nice and inexpensive fan will last as long as the previous smaller models I still own, and by looks of it I believe it will. The motor looks well built, as does the entire fan, and it is also easy to remove the front grille to clean.
