My husband and I have bought 5 of these. They last FOREVER but we wanted new ones because of the new top part. The new product (this one) has the mouth part that pops out for easy cleaning. This keeps my coffee warm for HOURS, doesn't leak, and I love the new lock so it can't spill if I put it in my bag.
Pros:
- leakproof
- keeps coffee hot (sometimes I have to leave the top off to let me coffee cool otherwise it takes too long)
- fits nicely in my hand
- easy to drink from
- fits in car cup holder
Cons:
- color on the mug does eventually chip off in the dishwasher even if on the top rack (but only after about 4+ years of daily use)
- spurts a little bit each time the first sip because of the built up pressure after you put the top on (not a big deal, after I screw on the top I just push the button once to let the air out before I take a sip)
i love these travel mugs. I usually have 3 in rotation at a time. They are the perfect size! Completely spill proof and keeps my coffee hot during my ride into work.
My one gripe is, i must be rugged with my cup holder cause my top rack is not that strong and the blue one is chipping away after 3 months of use! My last ones lasted 3 years, and yes that paint chopped away too so they didnt appear to fix that problem. I also do want to add that the older style shut design was starting to see its use so I think this new slide method appears to fix the West and tear ball shut design.
I love these! I originally found them at Costco and feel in love. Mine 3 years later still going strong I need to buy 2 more because one was supposed to be for my husband but I kind of stole his. 🤪 So I had to get him new ones. They keep your coffee warm enough so that is your like me, keep putting your coffee down, forgetting it for 30 minutes You won't HAVE microwave it! They fit perfect in the car cup holder and they are spill proof just in case you need to throw it in you purse, diaper bag or your toddler happens to get ahold of mommy or Daddy's morning sanity juice. Lol. I want to buy more, but just because I want new colors. Lol
As advertised, I can lock this coffee cup down and throw it in my (expensive leather) briefcase without worrying that it will leak. It doesn't leak.
As advertised, it keeps hot stuff at least moderately hot for a VERY long time -- right now, at nearly nine in the morning, I'm still sipping hot coffee that I put in there at 5:30 a.m.
One minor drawback -- when the beverage is very hot, it's hard to sip without burning yourself. Other cups somehow seem to handle this better than the Contigo. With this cup you have to tip it very gingerly or you're likely to get boiling liquid directly to your lips.
That said, I still consider this the best travel mug out there.
Love this!! Easy to clean and does its job! Keeps hot drinks hot for hours and it works even better with cold drinks! Spill proof and fits perfectly under my keurig!

The ultimate in on-the-go convenience, this thermal coffee mug is leak- and spill-proof thanks to AUTOSEAL technology. Press a button to drink and release to seal after every sip. THERMALOCK dual-wall vacuum insulation keeps liquids piping hot up to 5 hours or icy cold up to 12. The Easy-Clean Lid pops open completely when you’re done drinking, letting you get into all the nooks and crannies for thorough cleaning. The innovative lid is also one connected piece, so there are no parts to misplace when you toss it on the top rack of your dishwasher. Stainless steel bodies are hand-wash only. Comes in a 2-pack of 16 oz. mugs.
These cups are not only excellent, they are beautifully designed, keep liquids either hot or cold for a surprisingly long time and, most importantly for me, provide computer insurance because they are spill proof! I've learned the hard way never to have liquids close to your computer. You can knock these mugs over onto your computer in complete safety--they won't spill a drop! One mug now travels with my laptop wherever it goes. Well worth the price! (One small caveat: there is a slightly dishonest spin in the product description: When it says these cups hold "up to 16 ounces" they mean brimful without the lid attached. When you screw on the lid (which is the *only* reason to buy the cup) the amount is reduced to 14.5 ounces!)
Unbelievable! It's astonishing how long coffee stays warm in the Contigo. I bought these for my husband's long morning commute to work, but I tried it once, and I just had to steal one for myself!
One of my biggest pet peeves is cold coffee. An even bigger pet peeve is microwaving my coffee 2-3 times before I can even choke it back. I have 2 young children, so I hit the ground running in the morning. Sometimes I don't even finish my coffee until noon, if I can even find it... Yeah, I'm one of those. With these though, I fill a mug around 5:00am and it will still be mildly hot (very drinkable) around 1pm. It will definitely keep your coffee warm. With that being said, i'll address, what I've found to be the only problem. If you put piping hot coffee in the Contigo, it's going to stay piping hot for a long time. Therefore if you want to slam down your coffee in 30 minutes, you're gonna have a bad time. This mug is for the slow rollers. Which I love it because can steadily drink it throughout the morning, and it'll still be warm down to the last drop. The duration of heat retention is both good and bad. I guess it was engineered too well haha.
It's really easy to clean The lids are dishwasher safe, however, I mainly hand wash since my husband and I use them constantly. The lids have a "tab" that you can pop up so that you can deep clean the auto seal flapper. The mug has and ergonomic design suited for both people with big and little hands, making it very easy to hold onto without having a death grip in fear of letting it drop. The lid has a tight seal, Which is huge perk. I can toss this thing in my purse, and it won't leak at all! That gives me both my hands to wrangle kids, carry groceries, ect.
We've used the mugs 1-2 times a day since Christmas and we've not seen any signs of degradation in the lid, or components.
All in all, Contigo has won our hearts. I'd love to eventually replace every mug in my cabinet with one of these. I don't see us purchasing anything else for a long time.
I have to be honest I have used these cups for years. They keep hot things hot and cold things cold for many hours. As long as you do not put these in the dishwasher and you handle them the way the instructions say you will have them for life. They are very durable and they're very flexible as far as what you can put and them. Truly anything from coffee to wine. You will love these cups and take them everywhere you go. They are attractive and functional. Clean up is a breeze. Do yourself a favor and make the investment. You will not regret it or they will buy them back.
I needed a replacement for my old travel mug. I wanted something that was easy to use and one hand operated. Most cheap mugs with a way to close the lid leak and don't keep the coffee hot very well. My last mug did keep the coffee hot and when it was closed it did not leak. However the type of closure was a click type closure that wasn't easy to use one handed and over time got sticky and didn't work very well. From my first week of use the lid on this is easy to use and the mug keeps the coffee as hot as my last mug. I doubt based on the design of the closure that it will fail or start sticking. The lid is also much easier to clean than my previous mug.
I LOVE contigo mugs. I have 3 (different sizes). They keep liquids hot/cold for hours, don't leak, are easy to carry, lightweight and even look good! The only thing I dislike about them is that they're impossible to clean after you've drank tea in them a couple of times. Maybe I haven't tried the right combination of cleaning products, but regular dishwashing soap has not worked and neither has vinegar/baking soda, there is a constant fark residue on the inside. It doesn't smell or anything, but the discoloration does bother me a bit. Still, won't stop using them, will just keep replacing them every couple of years. Must.have.mug! Once I got my first, I threw out all my other ones within 3 months.
